This proves to me what we all know... Kenny has no interest in these players. We could have easily signed him for that or less. Maybe not the same years... who knows. Anyway, Kenny is happy with skill over grit. Don't start telling me how gritty are team is either. The Ducks series showed how badly we needed a little more toughness out there. Chris Neil would be a great fit, but it ain't gonna' happen. Hope I'm wrong.

Players who have left the red wings and watched their careers disappea

Forgot about Schneider... wah-wah. Anaheim, Atlanta, Montreal... where to next? By the way, I don't know what the original poster was thinking, but I would say, whether the player was traded or left town, which former Wing has left or been traded and played out of his mind? Adam Oates... anyone else? -

Primeau, Dandenault, Derveraux, Lapointe, and the biggest loser had to be Feds. He never lived up to potential in Anaheim and eventually Columbus. -
Three players gone... what's next for Wings?
scotzman replied to redwashington2000's topic in General
We've got some good young players who will fit right into the system (as we saw in the playoffs). Helm, Ericsson and Howard will all be playing next year and that is a great thing. Maybe Abdelkader and Leino will even be with the big club. 5 young guys in the lineup is exciting to me. Good riddance to Hossa and his little buddy Kopecky. Conks was great with us this year, but we have so much invested in Howard, that we have to give him a shot. Sammy and Huds need to get their big paydays, so I wish them well. They will not flourish in another system the way they did here. It seems like that is the case with most of the people that leave Detroit for more money... I'm excited about the opportunities that are opening up... would love to see Neil or Lapperiere in the Winged Wheel, but I am not holding my breath. -
Hahahahaha! Thanks Chicago! Maybe they will take a look at Sammy and Huds too...
-
What a ******... That means we'll meet the Hawks in the Conference Finals and he'll sit in a heap after we beat them again. The guy is bad luck if you ask me. Sour grapes... yes.
-
I'd take Sullivan... no idea if he wants to be a Wing. Huds is a lost cause for us... we aren't going to pay him what he is worth on the open market and honestly, we could use a player with a little more grit and size. Huds would be a nice fit on any number of teams that are looking for some offense for their 2nd line. Plus, a 2nd rounder to the Wings is pretty dang good. He could end up being a super star.

Shanny's wife would never allow it based on the rumors as to why he left... ... JR is a douchebag.

Obviously we have overlooked the real reason the Wings did not win Lord Stanley's Cup this year. It's almost like the Brady Bunch episode when they go to Hawaii and Greg wears the tiki god necklace. Our curse happened on the very first game of this season... I give you Joe Elliott. name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>&"> name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350" /> Damn you Def Leppard!!

That show was BRUTAL... what was the NHL thinking.
-
I had a completely different take on it... it sucked.
-
Signing Hossa... BOO!
-
Quite possibly another contributing factor... that and the losing 4 games.
-
I don't know, Def Leppard has had some pretty bad luck. Ask their drummer... you can't ask their other guitar player anymore, because he's dead. It's funny because I actually told my wife when we were watching back then that if I was superstitious I would have thought that Joe putting the Cup upside down was bad luck for us. Wah-wah!

I'm finding it hard to believe there are people actually interested in Grier... he is not very good. He has bounced around and has never been that great. Let's talk truth here... the Wings need some grit so that next year if we run into a team like Anaheim there won't be so many liberties taken on Dats, Z, Flips, etc. To me bringing in Neil and Laperiere would be like a dream come true. Can you imagine Helm centering the two of them? Talk about an energy line... no to mention the protection both of them would provide to the team. They both have some skills too. If we end up losing Huds, Kopy & Hossa, I think that would be the best case scenario. Sammy has his issues, but I think he fits into our system and plays a role. If they bring him back it would not be the end of the world. Conks is not coming back and neither will Cheli. I think Lebda played very well during these playoffs. If it's between he and Meech, I think Meech might be moved this off-season. Lilja just might end up going on long term IR and I think if that is the case they are not on the hook for his salary. If he is still suffering from the effects of the concussion, it may take another season for him to be ready... honestly, I wonder if his career is over. Losing those players (not including Lilja) gives us $11.125 M to play with. Ericsson .900 Howard .750 Abdelkader .710 Helm .500 Leino RFA? Howard will be playing here next year no matter what, he's out of options. It's make or break for this kid next year. Ericsson is obviously in our top 6 D-men next year as well. Helm will be up for sure... I'd like to see Abdelkader up too, but he has options left. How much do we think Leino will want? I have no idea what to think about that guy... he has flashes, but never blew me away. I guess he is a worthy replacement for Huds if the price is right. Would love to see them sign Lapperriere (34) for bewtween $1.75 - $2M for a couple years and Neil (29) for close to the same ($2M) for a few years more. Hossa blows... Crosby sucks... Malkin is a douchebag... GO WINGS!!
-
No one cares what Hossa has done through the first 3 rounds of playoff hockey... he has reached his destination, the promised land and another shot at Lord Stanley's Cup. He should be destroying the Pens... he should be the MVP. This guy is one game away from what he left $70 Million on the table for, if he can't get motivated for that, what can he get motivated for? I don't hate Hossa, he just hasn't shown up in this round whatsoever. He played his worst game ever tonight. He was slow, gave the puck up, played tenative and created nothing. And all this back checking nonsense means nothing if you can't put a puck in the net once in the finals. Dude is choking.

85.7% Home teams are 12-2 in SCF game 7... thus 85.7% chance the Wings take it at home. If they play half as good as they did in Game 5 those odds just get better. Ozzie held them to 2 in a must win on their home rink... we lost by one and had some great chances at the end of the game (not to mention some of the chances early on by Dats & Z).
-
Positives 1. Z was amazing as usual 2. Ozzie held us in the game 3. Pens didn't really look that great either 4. We lost by one goal and we got our best chances in the last 5 - 10 minutes 5. The officiating again played a role in the game 6. Hossa most likely can sign his $70 million deal with Edmonton this Summer 7. Playing that flat in game 6 should light a fire under their butts for Game 7 8. The JLA Crowd will get to enjoy a Game 7 Home Game Win and a Stanley Cup Celebration on Friday night!!
-
Eventhough none of the players mentioned will be benched, Hossa is a total bust in these Finals. This guy should be ashamed of his play tonight especially... absolutely no heart at all. Just dreadful. What is wrong with him?
-
Dear God... please no OT, my heart can't take it. I am already on the edge of my seat with my blood pressure through the roof. How about a nice blowout like game 5 to send Cindy and Ev-Jenny crying to the showers? Go Wings!
-
I just have to say one more thing... why are we letting Ev-Jenny the ass clown run around and hit people after whistles? Somebody needs to put the wood to that *******. Stuart? Krownwall? Anyone?!?
-
They desperately need Dats back on the PP... he is able to create space and hold onto the puck. The other problem is we need to get traffic in front of the net and oh yeah, get the puck to the net. I gotta' believe Dats is coming back in game 5... Wings still have this series. Tonight was a giant smack in the face. Wake up and play Red Wing Hockey!! Go Wings!
