So which rookie is going to crack the lineup this year? Is it Kindl or Smith??? Tatar going to make some appearances in the year? What's your thoughts fellow fans?
-
Make that 2, couldn't say any better.
-
Agreed on what your saying but there could be a different way to approach it. Assuming Holland does retire and a year or two Yzermans contract runs out and he joins the teams as an assistant GM and the following year as a GM. I'm 75% sure Yzerman will one day be the GM of this team. When? That I cannot answer you but I am pretty sure the ownership / fans all want that to happen. Will it happen? Will never know but looking at some facts on how his family is in Detroit, his career was all in Detroit etc... Chances look good ... but at the end of the day ... It might not happen. I don't think we're fooling ourselves tho, I think the possibilities are really good.

Babs has been the best coach in the NHL since 2002. IMO his the best coach in the 2000 era. Lock him up for life. * Yes Stevie too will eventually become GM of this team there's no doubt about it, after our GM steps down which I hope it'll be a good long time.

Would of rather had Nabokov over Niemi any day of the week. Couldn't care less if Niemi has won a cup I can assure you he will never win another one. As for him taking a 1 year contract, of course he is because no one's giving him a 5 year contract 3m >. Sharks should of re-sign Nabby or get Turco.

I would love to have Ozzie as a back up goaltender until 40. Not only does he bring experience / leadership but is a great mentor to Howard / McCollum.
-
So there's no way we can nab him at 850 000? What's are current cap space haven't looked into it since the Modano signing? It's really a shame that Lils had to play the greedy card on us considering we're the team that actually brought him back to the NHL to give him a shot at a cup. All tho if there we're any way we can have him on the team I wouldn't mind. Great PK'er IMO and good for block shots.

Please Kenny pass on this one.

As we all know when Federov left his game went to the decline and by looking his stats his defensive game has dropped with having all +/- below 0 for his last seasons. I was wondering tho, do you guys think that Federov's career would of ended better if he had indeed sticked with the Wings or it would of had been the same, production drop?

Official, Kovalchuk re-sign with Devs.
-
I for one would like to see Osgood stick around for 1 or 2 more seasons as backup, enough time for McCollum to groom in the AHL. At this point I'd probably keep Ozzie as the backup over anyone in the league. It's good for him too, instead of staying home he can get a pay .
-
Minnesota = Fail ... what a waste of money 7 million is way too much, would of been better spent if they had let Koivu walk and grab Kovalchuk at least the guy can score 50.
-
I just hope we can re-sign Lilja too, his great on the PK.

Here's how it works with Bettman. Having Bettman as commish of the NHL for the fans / history / hockey = Worst Candidate. BUT Having Bettman as commish of the NHL for the owners / business wise = Perfect Candidate.

I would love for Modanno but if he doesn't join us I really wouldn't care. The only person that will be the loser here is Modanno. Modanno signing was probably for marketing reasons more then anything. As I stated if Modano decides to go else where well too bad for him because it's his only chance to play with one of the greatest franchises in the NHL. His loss not ours we have tons of kids willing to center the 3rd line.

I'm not into NBA so I wanted to ask to all the NBA fans, how does is the feeling to keep seeing almost the same 2 teams win over and over again. I mean I looked up at the previous champions and realized that from 1950 - 2010 Lakers and Celtics have won respectably 15 and 17 championships and one of them will get 1 more this year. Now that's 33 including this years championship titles in 60 years. Doesn't it just get boring keeping seeing them same 2 teams hoist it. I mean comparing to the NHL yes we do get teams with 24 cups and all but there are so many other teams that have won meanwhile. (Carolina / Anaheim / Lightnings / Avs / Hawks / Pens) Yes back in the days there use to be a lot of teams winning couple of years in a row but not when the league became 30 teams. I mean if I we're a NBA fan I would just be like BLAH ... another celtics and lakers. What's your thoughts I'm curious.

I would love to see an Yzerman in this era, it would be awesome but as another poster mentioned a player like Yzerman comes once in a lifetime.
-
Even tho it's a rumor, I would love it to be a 2 year deal. Lower cap hit and a good center 3rd/4th line player for 2 years.
-
40 - 50 I'd say.
-
Well Kovalchuk is not actually asking a lot of money, all tho his asking for a guarantee of a long term contract. He doesn't want to re-negotiate when his 34 and is looking for the same type of contract as Hossa a 10 year deal in which he could be guaranteed his big $$$ and due to injuries or bad play will not lose his value.

After losing Lidstrom, I must have to agree with some of the posters about Chara. We really need to get him on board. Weber and Seabrook are amazing too but I'd go with Chara. He really wants that cup before he retires, could be perfect timing IMO.

R.I.P. Bob Prob, I can't believe it, so young. My condolences to his family, he was a great character player and a guy. Sad to see a nice guy like him leave us so early.

Modano would be a great addition to this organization, classy player for a classy team. Modano would provide us probably with a great 3rd line center and even 2nd if need due to injures.

Here's what most people aren't realizing is that Brodeur is eventually going to hang up the skates and when the time does in fact come, the Devils will officially be Dead-ils considering if they stay with the system they have in place which is defense first. I have a major feeling that organization has realized that after Brodeur's retirement this team will need to start scoring and not rely on there goalie as much as they do now. So having Kovalchuk back will guarantee them with a 40-50 goal scorer which is a very good thing to have on your team. As much as people want to say that Defense can make a goalie better and all, I agree but you also need to score to win games no matter how many saves your goalie does if you don't score you just don't win.
