Well we all know that the Red Wings we're big spenders in the era of no salary cap but since then they have toned down. I got a couple of questions tho which I was discussing with some friends and wanted to see your opinions on. 1- Are the Wings a better team in salary cap era or non salary cap era? 2- Will the salary cap help or hurt the Wings in the long term financially assuming no signing new blood FA's = possibility of less excitement = less tickets sold? 3- We all know that now that there is a salary cap the owners are making much more money then before, now that the Ilitches got used to this income, lower salaries do you guys think if the non salary cap era does return that the Illitches themselves will have a cap number in private with the club or will it be back to the old glory?

Sergei Kostitsyn and his brother are a cancer to any team IMO.

From what I've read and heard around seems to be a quality pick. He did only get 6 goals in a defensive system which is understandable. His still young tho his going to get groomed for years to come, all tho his size and strength is going to give him a major boost in his production and cut his time in GR by half.

Ericsson won't be what everyone think he will be and 32 year old is not that bad, you can get a good 5 years out of him.

Agree with most of posters but is it me or was it last year that Ovechkin came out and said " I see what are fans are writting about us but don't worry we will win this series" or something like that.

The reason we got trade Leino was more to open up cap room then anything. At the time we traded him he didn't look too great but a different scenery did make a difference in his case. We got a 5th for him so it's not that bad. We had no intention in keeping Tollefsen for NHL duties IMO.

Agreed with you still unproven but Yzerman did sign the best rookie coach out there. IMO it's a big achievement for him as his first year as a GM signing the best rookie coach. Now here in Montreal they are so hyped up about Boucher that the fans we're actually wanting Martin out and Boucher in. Habs fan did not want to lose Boucher at all trust me. Don't forget also the Habs have been developing better coaches then players lately. Please no Zherdev, one of the laziest floating players the NHL has seen. We really don't need him, for that price we might as well grab a player like Lombardi or keep that space to grab someone in the trade deadline. You are right tho Drapes will not contribute anything to this team except for some leadership and energy player to rest the team up. Look for Helm to grab Drape's spot following this season and it will end the era of Kris. No thanks pass for Zherdev tho.
