We're not really fighting for the presient trophy but more the opponent we will face. Assuming we would finish 2nd, if the top 3 wins the first round we will eventually be faced against calgary which is probably the only team I'm worried about in the playoffs. Kipper's playing amazing even if we win just imagine how tired we'd be with traveling and stuff to go face the sharks that will probably have an easy first / 2nd rounds. If we could just finish 1st and get sharks and flames to kill each other that'd be perfect.

This team will show it's true self in the playoffs, you could tell there just playing for heck of it cause they know they in playoffs and they know very well that they could kill any team in the league.

Franzen won the cup ... all ready showed some greediness last contract time, don't be surprised if he just wants the money because his still young and knows in the head that his all ready won at least one cup. Hossa on the other hand never won a cup, rarely been in a winning atmosphere is in a great team with the potential of winning the cup more then once if he we're to sign for cheaper and stay with this team. Odds are that Hossa stays here over Franzen. People think that Franzen will re-sign 3.5 - 4 million $$$ deal, he will be looking at 5-5.5 million dollar deal which his worth it but hey I'd rather keep Hossa for an extra mil or 2. If franzen walks and we trade flip, problem saved. Forget about the Stuart trade, Wings will never trade a defensmen. We need him and his cheap for what he brings to team, he might not be having best season, but some players just explode in the playoffs.

Guys I was too young when the wings acquired him, can someone explain me how a team can invest 1$ in a player for trade ... how can you trade $$$ for a player is that possible?

If Osgood wins 1 more cup he will officially have 1 more cup then Sawchuck and nearly as much as wins. I mean Osgood has 2 more seasons with Wings. If he could get 25-30 wins next 2 seasons he could beat Sawchuck wins by a Wings goalie. I say he will pass Sawchuck with cups and with wins. My favorite goalie is Hasek, but Osgood is right in there and if he wins one more cup he will probably pass Hasek soon.

I think if Osgood wins 1 more cup he deserves to get his jersey retired by us, assuming also he gets over 352 wins also.

So technically what your saying is if Osgood puts up some good numbers in 2-3 season he will be the best Detroit Red Wings Franchise goalie with over 250 wins?

There doing that so they could be underdogs again and make other teams under estimate them or they just want to piss the s*** out of you so you could come on the forums and keep writting stuff like this. Yes a team has everything to do with it but don't forget goalies are part of the team. If you don't have a good goalie there's no way you win a cup. Helm is not a play maker, Helm just is so fast and uses that to his advantage. Most of the time the defender just goes on him so he could cut Helm's speed which leaves another player open, he eventually passes the puck to the player. He also just shoots the puck more then Flip which eventually creates chances to score. Helm is energy / grinder player. Filppula is playmaker /defensive. The problem with Filppula is his just to weak on the puck. He get's bumped off too easily. His not to grindy and has a hard time fighting battles at the boards.

Bulls*** CBA ... screw that I hope NHL goes back to the era with no cap where the Owners that want to win a cup spend ... and the Owners that only want to make money lose. I find that the cap is bulls*** excuse for the Owners that just don't want to spend money on there team. An Owner should spend as much as they want for any player as long as there good. Hope no more cap after 2011. We'd keep Hossa Franzen ... everyone lol ... maybe even sign crazy FA's. We need to let Franzen walk ... It'd be amazing for both of em to sign but for the future (cap) and for the present the best move would be to keep Hossa and Hudler over Hossa and Franzen. Let Franzen walk ... you save about 4-5 million right there. Let Leino replace the talent level of Franzen. Make Helm a starter by not signing sammy that's another 1.4 there. 6 million saved by not re-signing Franzen and Sammy ... I think we're okay for a while and the year after that if lids takes a 2-3 million cap we've got 9-10 million saved up with all the core locked up for a long time.
