This guy is a beast, his the best player in the league. It's not my opinion but it's the truth and I agree with it. This guy has 69 pts 4th in the NHL. He gives his best day in, day out. His up there with Crosby Malkin and Ovechkin if he doesn't win the MVP this year then I will totally hate how the NHL is organized. I don't care if Malkin has 25 pts more then Datsyuk, Malkin's team is not making the playoffs and his only in the +15's at best. Datsyuk is +31. Wow 69 pts and +31, his the best player in the league offensive and defensive wise. Yes I know people say that's a defensive forward well his as good as any offensive player by himself being a defensive forward. Anyone disagree? *If he doesn't win the MVP, it's obvious NHL is all about the marketing and stuff. P.S. I also think this guy is underrated by the NHL and NHL fans. I don't think people that aren't Red Wings fans don't realize on how good he is.

Yes I'd have to agree that Thomas has been playing lights out ... but let's not forget Fernandez has been helping out Thomas, I don't think he deserves to win MVP, the only goalie I would be okay with him winning MVP and Vezina would be Kipper.

Now the wings don't pay the 4-5-6 for there goalie they average it out in the 1-3 million ... Second of all the We've got Lidstrom Rafalski ... Kronwall Stuart locked up for a while, meaning core is intact... Third of all you keep forgetting that even if we don't sign hossa we'd be going after Franzen which will also want a big raise. If we we're to go along as what your suggesting we would need to let hossa and franzen walk. Do you want that? I would rather have Hossa between them two even if i we're to pay 2-3 million more.

Seriously, people can't seem to remember past last year ... Rolly wants to win, his 38-39. If he came to Detroit knowing they do have a capable team to win unlike the Oilers I'm sure his play will improve for this year.

Well mostly the trade is to dump salary ... for people that think ... Samy > Cole wow that's just plain sad, Cole more physical and can get you those goals that people on the wings don't like getting there noses dirty. Now I know this trade would never happen but it was just my opinion on how we could dump salary get ourselves a goalie that's in his last years and wants to win a stanley cup before he retires *motivation factor plays here also. Why flip? ... well first of all I am dumping his salary and edmonton wouldn't just make a trade for nothing. By Flip + Sammy + Osgood out you've just saved up about 6 millions in cap for next year which could be used to re-sign Hossa. Now Osgood gone, re-sign Conklin bring up Howard see what the kid got. Re-sign Leino and make Helm starter along side. Let Franzen walk. Probably not this year, but Helm was pretty decent in the playoffs last year which he gained a lot of experience and is gaining his experience this year so he will be much capable of being a starter next year no problem. As for Leino, people probably would say what makes me think his ready for 2nd line, well as of now his not but if continues to play like this and improve, he will be very capable of being a 2nd liner next year. So basically the only real rookies and not as much experienced players would be Ericsson / Adkel, which I'm sure shouldn't be as big of a problem.

I think everyone thinks on this forum that Franzen is expecting to get paid less then 4 million. Wake up people he will be asking over 5 million. I rather get Hossa then Franzen any day of the week. Franzen is good but Hossa's better.

Sorry about that, yes he is a RFA ... so even to that like the previous poster mentioned ... even losing him would mean good for the team.

You get to keep Hudler 2- Re-Sign Hossa 3- Let Franzen walk 4- Let Sammy walk 5- Make Helm and Leino starters Now you keep Hudler and Hossa, and you still have room in the cap ... You've got 2 starters that will be part of your core including Hossa - Hudler - Datsyuk - Zetterberg - Holmstrom What the lines would look like Holmstrom - Datsyuk - Hossa Leino - Zetterberg - Hudler Cleary - Helm - Adkel Maltby - Draper - Downey Lidstrom Stuart Rafalski Ericsson Kronwall Lilja

He looks pretty good, keep him as a starter please. If people didn't realise watch the beginning how he was fighting in the boards for the puck and got it. He created that rush of his hard work, and finished the play with a hard working goal.
