    Wings re-sign Miller to 2-year, $1.65m contract

Hudler is as good as gone.

    Jackets sign Wisniewski: 6-years $33-million ($5.5m/yr)

Wisnieksi for 5.5 is way overpayment, thank god he signed with Columbus and not us.

    Question Regarding RFA

I was wondering, assuming if a team we're to offer Stamkos 7-8 million per year and obviously Tampa Bay would eventually match that offer. Would Stamkos have the right to chose with whom he can sign with or his obliged to sign with Tampa Bay?

    Give me one reason

Steve Yzerman or not ... It's not personal, strictly business.

    Wings re-sign Ericsson to 3-year, $9.75m contract

Everyone keeps forgetting, sure 2-2.5 million would be a good deal IF THE CAP DIDN'T GO UP. The cap has went up, therefore contracts are going up.

    Wings re-sign Ericsson to 3-year, $9.75m contract

WoW I've never seen a signing that has caused LGW to go this crazy. I just don't get what's the bad part about signing Ericsson. Sure, he didn't perform to his expectancy but the his still 27, 6-4 and 220 ... which I really don't mind having. I really think he will pan out to be a good defenseman eventually if we hire a defensive coach that can groom him better then Brad McCrimmon did. Did you guys forget his first playoffs when he stepped him and everyone was happy (The Year We Won The Cup. The following year, Brad McCrimmon stepped in as defensive coach ... the defense has never been the same since his arrival. IMO, his poor play / poor play of defense has more to do with Brad McCrimmon then anything else. It would be a real shame if he did go to another team with a better defensive coach and pan out to be a good player, then everyone would be complaining on how Holland let that slip by. I could be possibly be wrong, Ericsson might just lack the level to play in the NHL but that one we won't be able to tell for at least 1 more year (with a new D. coach). IMO, there are no quality FA's this year and if Holland didn't sign anyone and brought the kids up to play I would be very happy. The only FA that would of interested me is Wisnieski but please Kenny don't overpay him.

Red Wings trying to move Jiri Hudler

I hope we get this done, could open up cap space and get rid of a useless player for the wings.

    Wings re-sign Ericsson to 3-year, $9.75m contract

I think the Defense coaching had more to do with the poor play of our defense and the growth of Ericsson then his actual play. IMO since our D coach has changed, this team's defense has never been the same. IMHO if we can grab a decent defensive guru that can groom the upcoming kids and just put Ericsson back into line, this could be a good signing. Until then this signing is nothing more then a desperation / backup signing by Holland. After Wisnieski, I don't see any other defensman that is young and that would even interest me. So having Ericsson back isn't that bad after all.

    Habs shopping Wisniewksi's rights + for a 2nd rounder

You Crazy????????? Hell, trade Hudler to NYI for a bag of hockey pucks.

No, No, NO! Jagr interested in Detroit.

Jagr 39 > Hudler (in his prime ... if he ever does get a prime)

Winter Classic Foes All But Official

How about making the Habs play the Bruins or Wings in a classic match for once.

    James Wisniewski

Wisniewski would be a great addition to this team. Watching how the Canadiens play there defensive trap game, his game is not at 100%. I would mind paying him Wisnieski for a solid defensive with an excellent offensive upside. His speed could help us out a lot specially after Rafalski's departure.

    The Rafalski Effect On Lidstrom

Here I was thinking about Rafalski retirement and came up with some scenario's on how Rafalski's decision could effect Lidstrom's decision. 1- Rafalski wanted to spend more time with his family. ---> (Negative) Could give Lidstrom ideas, considering his older then Rafalski and his family / kids are in Sweden which is further then Rafalski's family. 2- Rafalski didn't have any gas left in his tank (Body wise). ---> (Positive) Lidstrom has a choice to make he is fully capable of going a good 70 - 75 game season, therefore Rafalski was more forced to make the decision that he had to make. 3- Money is not the issue (let's not kid ourselves ...) ---> (Neutral) Lidstrom has made tons of millions, but an extra 5-6 million wouldn't hurt the bank nor the familly. 4- Rafalski retiring. ---> (Positive) Considering Lidstrom is probably the current face of this franchise / captain of the team he probably thinks he owes one to the team to stick around for at least one more year to help contribute considering that we lost our #2 defenseman and how it could possibly hurt the Wings if they not only lose there number 2 but also there number 1. That's pretty much with some scenario's I came up with. You guys have any scenario's yourself that you would like to share?

    Atlanta Thrashers move to Winnipeg

Agreed, I'm from Montreal and last I heard from the arena was that it wouldn't be up and running before 2014. I haven't re-heard any other news in which it indicated it'll be up and running as early in 2012, unless I missed some news. I could be wrong tho.

    Very Sad To See

It's very sad to see that some Red Wings players will eventually retire. * Rafalski - Retired * Lidstrom - Last Year / Retiring * Holmstrom - Last Year? * Kris Draper - Last Year * Ozzie - ??? I know Modano is retiring too but in my heart his not a real Red Wing. Worst part is that all of the above players are probably the key components for our stanley cup success. I'm really going to miss all of them.

    Kronwall's New Role?

Kronwall will not be number one if Lidstrom returns. Assuming we don't sign / trade any defenseman I clearly see Stuart and Lidstrom pairing. The only way IMO Kronwall will get a start as the 1st pairing is if Lids retires.

    Brian Rafalski appreciation thread

I think your right but I also think your wrong. I do agree that he did put the team first all tho the reason he retired is probably not due to that he can't produce. I think he realized that his health is more important and being a player that's getting paid 6 million a year and being injured was not his type of a player. I'm really going to miss him, it's going to be a big blow to our defense. For all those that wanted Rafalski out the past couple of years ... well get ready guys our defense just dropped about 20% and our offense by 15%.

Brian Rafalski announces retirement after 11 NHL seasons

Sad to see him leave, I hope we can sign Weber.

Brad McCrimmon will not return for 2011/2012

Since McCrimmon was hired our defense was never the same. Great news for the fans and the teams present and future success. Wings should really think of hiring a very good coach, we've got kids coming up and they need good coaching. Anyone else think Ericsson's play might have something to do with McCrimmon?

Thanks For the Great Season, Wings!

Yes good season indeed, we need some improvements on defense and offense in off season.
