    Howard......

Well said, Wings fans have a tendency to ban wagon a player on the roster.

    Wings Playoff/Cup chances?

We will never win a cup with Jimmy Howard.

Blues fan here, can I offer some perspective?

Excellent thread, couldn't have said it any better myself. I certainly miss the old rivalry with Blues in the playoffs with Al MacInnis / Pronger etc... Apparently our new young generation of Wings fans think that this team need to win 82 games, always be first place, keep winning or competing in the stanley cup finals each year and keep thinking that all our forwards need to be top 10 scoring. I hope you stick around the boards because if we had 99% more Blues fans that think like you on this board and 99% Wings fans that actually keep complaining even tho we're top 10 team each year ... these boards would be much more mature.

    Babcock Underperforming?

Are you guys serious ... Mike Babcock is the best coach in the NHL. Thank god we have him or else considering how things have gone this year we probably wouldn't even been in the playoffs or probably just looking into the playoffs. This is probably the worst thread I have seen on LGW for years now. I'm really dissapointed by all the Wings fans that are even agreeing that Babcock is under performing. Our problem isn't Babcock our major problem is the goalie and if you guys want to blame our losings on something ... blame it on the goal tending situation. Unfortunately Wings have had no goalie support this year, nor will they ever win a Stanley Cup until they get themselves a above average goaltender. I am not convinced with Jimmy Howard nor do I ever think he can win us a cup. So I hope the Wings are in the market for a goalie ... * Why do you guys think Holland was after Nabby, if you guys actually think it was only due for injuries then don't kid yourselves.

Zetteberg and Datsyuk no longer on the same line

It will at least be a glimpse of our defense in the near future.

Wings sign Howard to 2-year, $4.5M extension

That's because the team is winning more games for him then his winning games for the team. Ozzie was probably in the same situation, all tho the lastt stanley cup win and the stanley cup appearance the following year the team was probably not carried by Ozzie but he stepped up and payed his best in his whole career. (Probably veteran maturity ... experience etc...) I don't mind the Howard signing, it's not that long anyways. Two years is not that long, considering his low pay and age he could be easy to trade away in a worst case scenario. He has 3 years to prove the organization that he could eventually help this team win a stanley cup. If he does, he stays longer ... if not ... Good Bye Howard. Give the kid a chance, he might surprise us with a cup ... (hopefully this year so lids could walk away a champ.)

    J, Rutuu to Anaheim

I would of gotten him for that price.

    In Ten Years From Now

#1 - How many Stanley cups do you guys see us winning? #2 - Is Jimmy Howard capable of winning a cup with this team? #3 - Will Kronwall still be on this roster? #4 - Will Chelios be re-signed ?

Was '97 or '02 team better?

Agreed with some of the posters, the 2002 was probably the one of the best stacked up talented teams to win the cup. All tho the heart and the grit showed in the 1997 was great too. I mean even tho the it was a gritty team we had some excellent talent on that team also with all the Russians and all. Let's not also forget that Hull / Robitaille / Hasek we're near the end of there career. Datsyuk was also in his rookie year but no doubt it was a very talented team. I still think that the heart and grit of 97 would beat the 2002 team due to the toughness and the heart of the team.

    Draper the goal scorer

Sad ... but true. I hate to see old blood retire but we need some new blood to make some impact.

    The Dreger Report

I highly doubt there's going to be any kind of trade happening this trade deadline. The reason being is that we don't have enough cap space, if there we're to be a trade Filppula needs to be involved in this trade because his a NHL decent second line player and is still young. Either then that I only see some of the kids being a potential trade baits but if I'm a GM of another team I would be going after Filppula. His great defensive play and offensive upside gives him the edge. All tho I highly doubt Holland is ready to part ways with him.

    Forsberg Joins Avalanche

Forsberg does in fact deserve the HOF IMO. The guy has great hockey talent but his body just ran out on him. Doesn't surprise me tho, the only way to get the puck of his stick was to play the body, even to that he was tough as nails. Can't blame the guy for trying to pull off a comeback, at least now he knows that he tried everything he could of and wasn't capable of competing in NHL level. He can retire with no regrets. Good career Forsberg, wish you weren't as good as you we're but you we're. I wish all the luck in the future. * Missing the Avs - Wings rivalry ...

    Could this scenario be allowed?

I know that's it's not possible and we would probably never see it happen but I was wondering if it's actually allowed. This scenario: Assuming that The Bolts are not in the playoff hunt and the Wings are in. Ken Holland trades for Stamkos or Lecavalier for the playoffs but then trades them back to TB the following season. Would this be allowed by the NHL or they would be some problems around the league. Would be cool tho don't you guys think LOL.
  14. If I'm starting a new franchise there's no way I'm passing on either Luongo or Miller.

Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

I just don't understand why Nabby needs to go threw waivers. He left as a Free Agent, so isn't this just like signing a FA off the market?

    Retire Osgood's #30?

#1 Chris Osgood never actually had the choice to stay in Detroit when Hasek was acquired. #2 The guy has 400 wins, doesn't come too ofter. #3 2 Cups as a starter - 1 as a backup. IMO this guys is probably not the best goalie to ever play in his time but he sure is a decent goalie day in day out to have. His a goalie that will never quit and play his best every night. Send him to the HOF the guy deserves it.

Starting a franchise- first 6 picks?

Considering there's a salary cap or not one?

    ESPN: J-Ho no sophmore slump

Howard is good but his not amazing I highly doubt he demands more then 3 - 3.5 a year. IMO we should sign Howard to a 2 or 3 year at 2.850 - 3.250.

    Tomas Tatar

Agree, I think we should trade him tonight while he still has value. Sean Avery still available?

    Modano has severed flexor tendon

Modano should take extra time to recover and not rush things. Good part is he could still skate but with no contact.
  22. KrazyGangsta

    Ville Leino

You could put Andreas Lilja on a line with Hartnell and Briere and even he could probably produce about the same as Leino.
