I do not like that 3rd line at all. We still have two more of less good wingers but Draper is not the guy to center them. Put Abdelkadel, Helm in there. That's not perfect either but still both would be much better than Draper.

there is no point to give Eaves plating time now. I remember how Danny started here - each and every pre-season game was like a last battle for jim, just like 7th game of SCF. He always left everything on the ice. That's why he earned his place on this team, is on comfortable contract now, plays top 6 minutes on the best team in this league, and I can't imagine my Red Wings without him now. He is everything true Canadian hockey was all about (at least, as was advertized in USSR:)) around 25 years ago when I was young. I didn't see such type of effort from Eaves...

Danny Markov is awful in KHL right now so not regrets here. Hudler also shows that he can't be the guy. They play on the same team right now and they lost around 15 out of 20 games in the season by now So we have a good chance to see Hudler back next season... back to the topic. Quincey is the only valuable asset who was given a chance in our system. Mike Green is another story However, I still double we would fit well here.

So it'll be more like Oveckkin-Fedorov-Semin Kovalchuk-Malkin-Kovalev Radulov-Datsyk-Frolov Morozov-Zinovjev-Zaripov I would say that 3rd line would be a nightmare to play against. Two outstanding defensive forwards with a lot of offensive upside plus a guy who is built to play around the net much like Ovechkin. I would go that far saying that Russia has the best top 12 in terms of both pure skill and chemistry. Nevetheless, Sweden will take the gold.

I agree to the some extent that this could be a good thing for organization in overall. From a different point of view... Look we have to good forward ready to play for a big club in Abdelkader and Helm. I don't want them to be in minors as they are already ready to contribute. Both have enough of telent to be slid 2nd line contributor just like Franzen. Playing 4th line minutes does not help them to elevate their skill. More importantly playing with career 4th liners in Maltby, Draper or May may significantly affect their style. Look what Draper and Maltby always do in the offensive zone - they circle the puck and do not even look for any scoring opportunities to create. They just shooting the puck to the net and that's all. I do not want Helm and especially Abdelkader to stuck to that style. Franzen's injury allows us to put these guys at scoring lines giving them an opportunity to learn a different style of the game playing alongside with Zetter, Dats, Cleary, Willisams, etc. guys who are creating opportunities themselves. Do not forget that Franzen was promoted to the scoring line in exactly the same situation - Cleary was injured.

he is exactly what we needed to be competitive with the so-called "hit-first and then let's see" type of teams e.g. SLB, Anaheim. The next step should come from Babcock putting May-Newbury-Abedelkader (Helm) against them. We still may go with something like Draper-Helm-Abdelkader (Maltby) against those who think they can outskill us e.g. Chicago, Pittsburgh, etc. LEt's be flexible a little bit!

Want to see him paired with Datsyk. Chances are slim though... we'll see something like Semin - Fedorov - Ovechkin at Olympics
