I have to say Crosby. To be honest I do think he has the best potential to become two way forward like Zetterberg. Aslo he is better player right now. PS it was easy choice for me even though I'm russian.

I like those commercials, especially Game 5 one. This simply reminds me that starting from the 3rd period it was the best Red Wings hockey I've ever seen in my life. Complete domination with all the people at the Joe standing on their feet for a whole 3rd period. The only thing that bothers me is 8 minutes of power-play given to Pens in the overtimes. They did not have a single chance to win it and refs was trying so hard to give PP to them...

I also agree that this is the year to trade up. I would say Flip + rights for Hudler may allow to move in 5-10 range. If we add our first we may trade with LA Kings for their 4th position with a shot at Dushene or Kane.

this is not a homer topic to praise Dats, for example. Also, this topic is not for those who initially say "Crosby" or "Overchkin" and only then thinks whenther they are worth this trophy this year. Just a general question and please provide you thoughts. I would say this year it has to go to either Parise or Dats and my vote goes to Parise. He is heart and sould of the team, very active in the corners and , in general, reminds me Zetterberg last year. Third vote goes to Towes.. but this is my personal preference I can't explain. He just looks like Yzerman in his first years and I'm bit afraid of Chicago of the future.

I do not think MVP should be the best players in the league. As title suggest he he should be the most important player for his team and Parise is the classic example in this category. I would add Mitchell for Vancouver, Chara from Boston...

I like this statistical comparison... Just look at them one the ice. Franzen fits this team well. He does not do tricky things - there is a guy playing in the center who does it much better. He just tries to finish. Hossa thinks he is at least in the same league as Dats and Zeta. But the truth is he is not even close to Dats with his moves and far away from Zeta with his speed and execution. He loses the puck too often. While it is ok for a team like Atlanta it is not excusable when you're playing for the Wings. If we wants at least 2M more than Franzen he is redundant.

year after year we find ourselves in this kind of discussion. I would say it is time to stop worrying and just try to wait till the play-offs start. We'll be fine I'm sure. Leino in, Helm in, Maltby out, as well as Kopecky... Clearly is always energized in the play-offs. Hossa last year was a real force in the play-offs so why not this year when he is playing for a team he wanted to? I have no doubts that Dats, Zeta, and Franz will be our best guys and when they are "on" nodoby can stop them. A lot of worries about Sammy? Take a look at Columbus where Huselius is getting three times more for the same amout of nasty turnovers and people say he is fine. Our D can't really play hockey? We have the best pairing in NHL in Lids and Raf. Kronwall is ready to lay some of those hits. Ericsson looks really promising... Goaltening is a bit of concern... but it always was. Do not forget that Osbad has won it three times. We are much better that we all think.

That's great news! At least for me. I think Franzen fits much better to our system compared to Hossa. Sometimes Hossa looks lost out there... An I the only one to notice that?
