that is partially true... However, we do not usually notice when ex-wings have their bad games against us.

The misconception that Datsyuk and Zetterberg are equal
RusDRW replied to JeffBridges's topic in General
It is time to stop this discussion. Both Eva and Elentro-something expressed their minds so we have nothing to discuss about according to these boards Zetter is much better cause he has those long hairs.... it is not that easy to live in a world controlled by women.. -

just wanting to say that Jeff is not the only one Conn Smyte? I would say this trophy should belong to Lids in 2008 -
that won't happen. But if you are right he would be our Todd Bertuzzi...

fights do not win games. Moreover, I do not want to see something happening to our best goal scorer in a fight. I really hope he is staying and Hossa leaving.

that is my choice too. Our defense looks big and steady. At lrast on the paper.

that is questionable to say the least. Zetterberg's fans bringing this over and over again make this thread really pointless. -
The misconception that Datsyuk and Zetterberg are equal

the reason is that people on these boards always believe "by default" Zetterberg is better due to his (i) defensive play and (ii) those 6 goals against Edmonton in 2006 that made him "clutch play-off performer". And once again saying that Dats is better takes nothing out of Zetterberg. He is still one of the best centers in NHL. I would say Zetterberg is "average" superstar like Crosby, Parise, Heatley if you get what I mean. He is excellent and always energetic with the puck, has good ice vision, outstanding defensive part of the game but... has nothing that distinguish him from that elite group of players. Datsyuk is something different. In addition to all those merits he is unique with creating opportunities for his linemates and the only player in this league that may _actually_ create someting out of nothing. Sometimes I think I'm biased a little bit but every time I watch him playing I've got this impression. Watching hockey from both sides of the Atlantic ocean for around 20 years I've never seen players like Datsyuk. -

looks like many people in this thread are taking it too personally. Saying that Dats is better (and he clearly is) does not mean no one likes what Zetterberg brings to the table. We are lucky to have them both. However, I do not see any aspects of the game where Dats is worse (even slighly) than Zetterberg. PS it is really strange to see that offense is so underrated on these boards. You are not going to win without scoring... -
we look tired

this reminds me Flyers game. something tells me we are going to see a very exciting 3rd period...
-
and now when there was a clear hook theu suddenly give a penalty to Calgary... what a joke.
-
I missed two games this season and vs Flames was one of them
-
when watching such games sometimes I want to be a Monthreal fan... or Toronto fan, or Calgary fan... I want to cheer for a team that shows emontions on the ice just like Canadians in the second period. Sad to say but the last time I saw my beloved Wings showing some emotions was 3rd periods of 5th game in SCF. Winning is good but hockey is all about emotions for me.

We all make mistakes... I'm pretty sure you will not even try to forgive. So do not complain when your potential husband will prefer someone like this .

if TSN is not joking about using some "formula" to compute power rankings the explanation can be really easy. Perhaps, it involves a king of smoothing mechanisms like moving average and exponentially weighted moving average as it is often done in statistics to estimate the current standings. Remember we were not that good 5-7 games ago. However, I really feel all this stuff is just someone's subjective opinion...

He turns our fouth line to something meaningful. Power forward Maltby, speedy shooting guy Draper, and playmaker Leino
-
I'm impressed with Leino. I'm also very happy that Wings start getting Finns to their team too. I really like finnish player due to their "don't give up" credo. I guess they are even better than canadians in this aspect.
-
anything on Avs roster with names starting with M and L will be welcomed.
-
Conklin is solid. Very good signing by Kenny.
-
How lucky we are to have Pavel... 6 hits from our soft forward!
-
Leino and Helm are completely different and we need both of them. Helm reminds me Draper of late 90s. Leino is top 6 playmaker.

Am I the only one who thinks it was a good goal by San Jose?
-
no, we're not healthy. still missing 1/3 of our powerplay.. Holmstrom.
