No actual improvement over Emmerton. Both are not that good 4th line centers.
-
4th line duties are way different compared to what Tatar used to do in GR and should be doing now with DRW. Put Zetter with Miller and Emmerton and the results will be the same.
-
So basically Babcock is saying he is not the one who is making decisions?
-
all these are just random permutations...Why Tatar scratched? He was the one actually doing something in that Bruins game. Why useless Lashoff in while useless Smith is out? Why not someone else like Almquist or Oulette? Give a try like other teams do! Why Glendening recalled? Why not Nyquist? Is he better than Shaean, Tatar or Nyquist? Why Samuelsson is still playing? Why Dats and Zetter are still together while it is evident that second line is not clicking? Why Bert is going to play with Dats and Zetter?... Why we extended Miller? What does he bring others like e.g. Glendening or Shaeah or Tatar or Nqyust can't do? Why we saw no trades to make the roster spot for youngers? Being a fan for more than 18 years I hever thought I would that say that this team has no strategy going forwards... We don't now and I hate it.

I have two cats (5 and 4 y.o.; named just before and after the cup in 2008) one of them is Henrik, another one is Sammy

it seems this loss is a kind of surpise for some of you... You're not starting a seson playing 3 games in 4 nights in three different cities and winning all of them. Especially, when the last one is against a very good team like Boston. I guess our guys were way more realistic compared to most of us as it was clear they didn't even try to win this one. I cannot blame them. Another question is why Bruins were so passive? Seemed like they wanted to match our effort

1. We will miss the play-offs 3. Our PP will be our enforcer scoring at less than 10% 3. Nyquist and Tatar will spend 70% of the season in GR 4. Kenny will sign both Todd and Mikael to 2 years contracts with full NMC 5. We will still love our team

Signed Cleary re-signs with Detroit, 1 year, $1.75m deal
RusDRW replied to wingedominance13's topic in General
completely agree. If only our other players were as competitive as Danny. I immediately became his fan when he came here because of his work ethic... still a fan. -
Voted Nyquist. Just because I would like him to succeed.
-
I also remeber his goal in that fantastic game 7 against Anaheim http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scVutse_U2c hope for 100% recovery, however, as time goes on and he still expierences pain, it becomes more and more unlikely

I like that it is aginst Avs but hoped it would have been 26 of March. Fans have long memories too.

Devils sign Jagr (1 yr deal, financial terms not yet disclosed)
RusDRW replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
trade bait. They just signed a late 2nd round pick in 2014. -
who is Bettman?
-
should (will) Red Wings retire their numbers? From my opinion it is definite yes as they defined a milestone for the team we are rooting for. From the other side we have Fedorov who contributed as much as Yzerman (13 seasons of pure magic) but left with some bad feelings... What do you think?
-
saad never scored 50. Maltby did though I hope he is going to be a mix between Brendan and Hull.
-
Wings tolerated players like Hull or Robitaille that had shoot-first mentality. Those guys were established and had reputation of scoring big goals though. Babcock's Red Wings are all about hardwork and so we can't allow a rookie to be THAT lazy. It may have a huge effect on other players.
-
Sammy was a huge mistake and it seems our menegement wouldn't like to repeat it. From my POV Brunner's deficiencies are too big to be correctable. If a player in his rookie season do not go to the boards you have a huge problem. There are only few exceptions of good development of such players. Well, our beloved Cleary is coincidentially one of them ...
-
Everyone here seems so upset of not signing Brunner.... I would even like to question what is the reason? Just because he is 27 y.o.? Have you seen the regular season and play-offs? He is a definition of a floater, never goes to the boards implying that he does not bettle for the puck his defensive coverage is non-existant. Hell, he makes Johan Franzen a guru of defense. Our game is based on hardwork first and that is exactly what Babcock asks from any player. Even skill comes second. Brunner was consistently getting point playing with Zetterberg but anyone can do it playing with world-calss center (see Abdelkader). One can tolerate such style from someone like Brett Hull or Luke Robitaille but not from a rookie who wants to establish himself in this league. Want to see a comparision? Nyquist vs. Brunner or Tatar vs. Brunner. Those two players are what exactly we need, Brunner? Not so much... I don't like Cleary much at this point of his career but I understand why we try to sign him first. He is a warrior on the ice and sometimes that additional effort pays off big time.
-
it seems normal buyout are still feasible.
-
Nyquist is very promising, so we better sign him long term now but it would require more than 1.5-2m. It is impossible to trade Sammy and buyouting him gives up nothing as this is 35+ contract.
-
we are now vulnerable to offer sheets. Say someone signs Nyquist to 20m/4y. Will be able to match? Will we match? He is not 5M player now, but he could be in 2 years.
-
There are no organizations with so much loyalty to their players. It needs to stop for us to have a competitive franchise in salary cup era. The other way to to find some Zetterbergs and Datsyuks in late round, i.e. we need some miracle to be compatitive if Kenny continues to be that loyal.
-
I've been saying it for years - players feel too comfortable playing for Detroit. There is nothing Babcock can do about it. They are simply not prepared and this is the reason for all those injuries. It is all on Holland. What is more frustrating is that dropping useless guys like Miller, Mursak, Samuelsson and injecting someone like Nyquist, Ferraro, Shaehan into the line-up will not produce any effect as our "stars" (e.g. Franzen, Kronwall, Zetterberg) will still be playing with no pressure on them. Send one of them packing and trade to Winnipeg for peanuts and we all will see a bit different effort from the rest of them.

he can't skate at all. well, at this moment gill is faster than whitney

I think Andersson played well. Hitting everyone in his sight? No, definitely, but his positioning was good, he is going to the tough areas, fighting for the puck. Reminded me Mule in his first games with the big club.
