If you take the top 8 college football teams and put them in a playoff, I don't see any of them being a Cinderella. Besides, part of what makes the NCAA tournament so much fun to watch is seeing a small school advancing against the bigger schools. It's not like the national champion ends up being a Cinderella (what was the last one....Villanova in 1985?)

If there was another strong team on Oregon's schedule, maybe they would have gotten more respect. The Pac 10 is a TERRIBLE conference, and all the Duck lovers will certainly quiet down after OU hands them their as*es. As far as the Michigan fans still whining about the refs.....get over it. It's funny, but I can't remember the last time the Michigan fans actually thought they were outplayed in a loss. All I hear is excuses about the referees and injuries. Cry me a river. You're not one of the elite football programs....deal with it.

I think Michigan is going to have their hands full on Saturday.
-
In this order, I blame: 1. Michigan State's discipline, for a lot of costly penalties 2. Michigan State's secondary, for their poor coverage and piss-poor tackling 3. John L. Smith for always playing "not to lose", playing for 3 points instead of a touchdown (amazing considering how awful their kicker is) and for going away from the offense's strengths when trying to control the clock 4. Michigan State's coaching staff for sending the field goal unit onto the field in a panic instead of having Stanton spike the ball at the end of the first half

There must be two people logging in under your username and posting messages. This is what was posted by the "other" redwings1914 on another UofM thread: "We Suck..... This is a disgusting season........ A change is needed....... And you know what.......after today I don't give a s**t about this season anymore. Sure were probably going to beat PSU next week......but does it even matter?" In one post, redwings1914 says he doesn't give a s**t about the season and in the other post, redwings1914 says he'll be there next week cheering his ass off. Which one is it?

You're no Michigan fan. If you follow your team whether they're winning or losing, it makes winning so much sweeter (like watching the Red Wings win the Stanley Cup in 1997). If you give up on the team when they're struggling, you have no place calling yourself a fan.
-
Did you injure yourself falling off the bandwagon? A real fan sticks with his team, win or lose. Going onto a message board proclaiming "Michigan sucks", especially after all the smack talking you've been doing is ridiculous. Will you be as quick to jump off the Red Wings' bandwagon if they become a .500 team?

Smith is going to be like Cooper at Ohio State: I say if he doesn't beat UM next year he gets canned.... No way JLS gets canned just for not beating UofM. He's done a great job of recruiting and coaching, and the school won't neglect what he's done.
-
Well....it was one of the ugliest 4th quarters I've ever seen a team play, but M.S.U. still managed to win at Notre Dame for the fifth time in a row. I still don't know what JLS was thinking kicking that 54 yard field goal instead of punting, but I guess I'll forgive him. GO SPARTANS! P.S. Solid game for UofM today. I think they were taking out some frustration on the EMUs.
-
When M.S.U. gets a lead, JLS goes completely against what got them to that point. I understand wanting to eat up time when you're ahead, but when you can't run the ball you're going to go 3&out and you'll cut your own throat. I also have NO idea why JLS decided to attempt the 54-yard field goal rather than punt and try to pin the Irish back in their own end. I do disagree about it being a "great game". I think it was a great game to watch. The M.S.U. big plays, the Irish comeback and the overtime were exactly what college football is all about. As far as the Spartans' planting the flag, I think it was a big mistake. Not only was it low-class, but it is going to make things difficult for next year's game and REALLY difficult when the Spartans go back to SB in 2007. I think this was a bigger mistake than the UofM fans who threw water bottles on the field last week. You come to expect a small number of idiots in the stands. You don't expect your team to disrespect someone else's stadium.

Michigan is not as good as Notre Dame You shut your mouth........ Michigan would have won that game if the damn refs didn't give them the ball when we were inside the 1........ and you guys can't say anything.......all you do is play pansies oh wow Stanton for Heisman....wow 700 yards againt KENT STATE thats a real accomplishment...... you'll see next week....ND will destroy you LOL. I wondered how long it would take for a UofM fan to start bitching about the refs. The refs didn't lose you the game today, your quarterback did. As far as "pansies" go, have you looked to see who you're playing next? Since when is Eastern Michigan University a football powerhouse? The only reason i am "bitching" about the refs is cause EVERYBODY..... the announcers, the radio guys....... said that it would be without a doubt Michigan football.......and what does that little sieve in the replay booth do......HE GIVES IT TO ND WHEN HENNE WAS DOWN....... NIU was better than both Kent State and Hawaii COMBINED........every team deserves ONE cupcake.......but no you guys have to put them all over your schedule.... Oh yeah.....i would take Henne over Stanton anyday.....Stanton has always choked under pressure.....at least Henne gave us a chance to tie..... and if henne didn't throw that INT and we still lost.. you would not be saying that henne lost the game when has stanton choked under pressure. Michigan would have, and should have lost that game last year to the spartans. State lost stanton halfway thru the game. If he was in, that would be a different story. From a spartan fan to a wolverine fan, let it go. You will probably beat us in lansing in a few weeks anyway. I did let it go.........but it came back when you spartan fans have to rub it in..... You come onto a thread about MSU with a comment like this: "Who Cares?!?!? Michigan is wayyyyyyyyyy better." and then you have the cojones to say the Spartan fans are rubbing it in???

I'm far from a Notre Dame fan, but I was overjoyed to see scUM get beat today. What happened to that vaunted Wolverine offense that was supposed to lead the Maize & Blue to the national championship game? On a side note, I hope all those classless fans in the end zone that were throwing things on the field have their season tickets revoked.

They never ONCE thought Henne was down. It was a good call. Just because it didn't go your way doesn't make it a bad call.

Yes, Michigan fans do make fun of MSU when the Spartans lose. For you to say you don't is a ludicrous statement.

Throwing things on the field is 100 times worse than being an inconsiderate winner. If the situations were reversed and it was in South Bend, alot of UofM fans would be screaming for sanctions against ND for stuff being thrown on the field. exactly! the point i was trying to make is michigan fans were classless today. And no way does that compare to me feeling happy that notre dame won today. I am sure that michigan fans would love to have ohio state lose tonight and during the season...or since this is a hockey site..to have the avs perform poorly and miss the playoffs. Deep down the wings fans would love that. And there is nothing wrong with that. THE THINGS WERE BEING THROWN BY THE STUDENT SECTION............. JUST CAUSE 10,000 FANS WERE THROWING THINGS ON THE FIELD DOESNT MEAN THAT ALL OF US FANS ARE CLASSLESS...... I never claimed all Michigan fans were responsible for throwing water bottles on the field. I also don't think all UofM fans are classless sports fans. My original post on the subject (throwing things on the field) was about how I hoped the fans that threw things on the field had their season tickets revoked. If 1,000 fans were throwing things on the field, that meant 100,000 fans WEREN'T. Every team has their share of people who go too far (which I'm sure a few on these boards would accuse me of based on my posts today). Ninety percent of my family and friends back in MI are Wolverines fans and they don't miss an opportunity to rub salt in my wounds after a Spartan loss. That's why it's so sweet for me when Michigan loses. As far as RockyMountainWingWhatever goes, all I have to say is that you made statements that were just as bad as anything I said and tried to provoke a reaction from me. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

It's funny, most of the Spartan fans I know get a bigger kick out of hoping Michigan loses, then they do rooting for their own team to win??? I don't know how you can root for Notre Dame with a straight face - I always pull for the Spartans when they play the Irish.... Personally, I cheer for MSU no matter what the sport. However, our football program has historically been inferior to UofM's. I love seeing an MSU football victory, but the past few seasons I've honestly gotten more enjoyment from a UofM loss. I'm sure there are Wolve's fans that feel the same way during basketball season!
-
If you're from Michigan, you should consider moving south of the border to South Bend - I'm sure they'd be happy to appease your slander down there... Why wouly I move to Indiana? I can't stand the Fighting Irish. Maybe you should stop watching TV, listening to the radio and going on the internet. Otherwise, you might find people with opinions that differ from yours (a crybaby scUM fan, I assume).
-
p.s. My compliments to redwings1914 for changing his signature so quickly (the UofM 2006 National Champions signature in case you missed it).
-
Would you like to apologize for that prediction?
-
Maybe they'll bring back the marshmallows so the crybaby Wolverine fans can throw those. Let the excuses begin!
-
Well, I'm sure they'll bring their 'A' game next week vs EMU. My favorite part of this is the scUM fans. They've been trash talking since last winter about their "upcoming football national championship" and now they'll spend the next two weeks making excuses with their "woulda, coulda, shoulda". Arrogant ***cks. OVERRATED OVERRATED OVERRATED!!!
-
Now maybe the Wolverine fans will focus on something other than Purdue's schedule.
