"Hearing #coyotes have put yandle back In play. He was available for the right price @ the deadline. Deal is close." - Daren Millard https://twitter.com/darenmillard/status/215999504732786688

Those were the two biggest free agent stories of the summer and he got them both embarrassingly wrong. I also saw him claim credit for breaking another deal even though he tweeted the info about 5 hours after Darren Dreger. The guy is a joke.

Saw this article linked on Twitter. I don't speak Swedish, but the Tweeter indicated Lids has taken a job as a scout for the Red Wings. http://www.aftonblad...icle15086616.ab

signed Wings hire Tom Renney as Assistant Coach (3-year contract)

I believe Renney coached Shane Doan in Kamloops (WHL) back in the early-90's. -

Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild
DesertWing replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
There is no doubt in my mind that researching neighborhoods and schools has nothing to do with waiting to make a decision. If a guy picks a team, he calls up the Captain or another one of his teammates and asks them where to live. It's not like these guys are on a team that is relocating. If Suter or Parise signs with Detroit, they call one of the Red Wings with a wife and kids and get the info in 15 minutes. Shoot, if my company wanted to relocate me to another office they'd have resources available to me to help choose where to live.- 487 replies

The Coyotes just went to the conference finals. BTW, the only way Doan plays for another franchise would be if the Coyotes relocated. There's no way he leaves otherwise.

I would think that the Coyotes would have to take on some salary in any trade. Otherwise, they'll have trouble hitting the salary floor.

The '95 Red Wings only lost 2 games in the first 3 rounds and lost 4 out of 4 to the Devils. I don't see NJ winning the Cup, but they certainly wouldn't be the first team to lose the first two games of a series on home ice and win the series (2002 Red Wings did it versus the Canucks).

Vokoun moved to Pittsburgh for a 7th Round pick.

Assuming L.A. wins the Cup, it's Quick without a doubt.

From ESPN: 4. Justin Schultz, University of Wisconsin Perhaps the most intriguing asset of all, Schultz still belongs -- somewhat -- to the Anaheim Ducks. But probably not for long. If/when the hottest defensive prospect becomes an unrestricted free agent July 1 (other NHL teams can start talking to the college star June 1), TSN's Bob MacKenzie suggests the Edmonton Oilers could be first in line. And while several scribes in Vancouver propose the Canucks could have the hometown edge in signing the 21-year-old Kelowna native, don't rule Detroit out of the mix either. Again, as a right-handed shot with the potential to run the power play, Schultz should fall well within GM Ken Holland's sights. more from ESPN today: If Schultz opts to test the free agent market -- as most believe he will -- the Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers, and Detroit Red Wings are considered frontrunners to land the 21-year-old sensation.

I read earlier today that at least 30 KHL players had already volunteered to play for Lokomotiv.

There was the Oklahoma State basketball crash not too long ago. Uncomfirmed reports that Galimov isn't going to survive due to the extent of his burns.

http://twitter.com/#!/SlavaMalamud It is official now. Belarusian news agencies report that Ruslan Salei was on board the flight.

The Detroit Red Wings aren't expected to spend much more this offseason, not that they've committed much to the future at all. And there's good reason for that. The Detroit News' Ted Kulfman writes, "Next season's potential unrestricted free agent group is so good. Absolutely loaded, actually. While this free-agent class one had a bunch of depth players, next year's is filled with difference makers worth spending the extra millions." The Wings could make a really big splash next offseason because they have no free agents they'll have to pay huge salaries, except maybe Nicklas Lidstrom -- if he decides to come back. If he doesn't, though, there are several elite free agents they could pay with that money, including Zach Parise, Brent Burns, Patrick Sharp and -- perhaps most intriguingly -- Shea Weber. Losing both Brian Rafalski this season and potentially Lidstrom next season could make them an ideal destination for the 2010-11 Norris Trophy finalist.

Sign him! How many times do the Red Wings have the opportunity to sign a guy that won the Little League World Series!?!

Seattle wouldn't. Portland might, but they need Paul Allen (unless someone else wants to build an arena). So far, Paul Allen has been against putting an NHL team in the Rose Garden Arena because it would take away from the Blazers.

If it's simply about which city he likes best, I'd pick Montreal too. No offense to Detroit or Pittsburgh, but it's no contest. If it's about being on a Stanley Cup contender, I'd rank them 1. DET 2. PIT 3. MTL .

Canucks' fans hate every team that isn't Vancouver. They have a strong hatred for Detroit because of our success (and they're still pissed about the 2002 comeback). I've been to a number of DET-VAN games at G.M. Place (pre-name change)and the fans were pretty bad every game (typical "Red Wings suck!" chant, people wiping their asses with Detroit Red Wings' flags, making remarks about the crime rate in Detroit, etc). I've never seen a franchise with 0 championships that felt such a sense of entitlement as I've seen with Vancouver.
