To be fair, those offers have come from Atlanta. Despite what they're trying to make out of the situation in order to save face, I think it's much more a case of him not wanting to be a Thrasher, than him being greedy.

Per ESPN:

I've seen him play in a handful of games, nothing stand out - but he's been solid enough. For what it's worth, Red Wings Central has him outside of the Top 25 Prospects.

For the record, love the thread. Not necessarily a lot of dudes I admire from other NHL clubs, so I just went through and chose in a 'best of the bunch' mentality. Even with that, there were plenty of teams I left alone. Atlanta: Kovalchuk Boston: Savard Calgary: Hagman Carolina: Staal Chicago: Hossa Colorado: Duchene Detroit: Kris Newbury's mustache Los Angeles: Kopitar Montreal: Gionta Nashville: Legwand New Jersey: Elias Philadelphia: Richards Pittsburgh: Malkin San Jose: Blake Toronto: Kessel (?) Vancouver: Sedin Washington: Semin

I was thinking that, even as I typed it out. The difference being that the tandem of Hossa and Kovalchuk will, obviously, become the greatest 1-2 punch in the history of hockey, racking up 147 points during the Hawks' 16-0 playoff run. Brian Campbell will be a -41.

I heard mumblings about this, too. I've also seen the Devils tossed around as possible candidates. If the Hawks land Kovy it will take a monumental effort on their part not to win the Cup. I don't understand it, either. One look at their roster says that. While landing Kovalchuk would be huge for them, it would, however, further the case that they're putting it all on this year.

I definitely want to throw the Penguins FSN announcers into the hat. Awful announcers, annoying people, mega homers, etc. Not surprisingly, I actually once heard a Pittsburgher complaining that the guys weren't home-biased enough. Personally, I enjoy that Mickey will actually speak his mind, even if it doesn't necessarily please the homer in all of us. Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling him impartial - but compared to some of these boners..

It's so great to see him so excited. Everyone on the ice seemed so stoked after that goal.
-
Looks like he jumped into the second one.

That's so awesome for the both of you! I wish I didn't work Friday and Saturday night. Not to hijack the thread, but I thought for sure they'd stick Abby on the first line the other night - if only for the introductions, but they didn't. I even got their early in hopes of hearing the roof come off the Van Andel. Oh well.
-
Backed. As far as I'm concerned, if you don't have any faith - then why bother watching?
-
Newbury and his newly added mustache looked good on Friday. They could be a great pair. Mostly his mustache, though. Pyett and Kindl could make a decent pairing.
-
That's awesome. I love that the Griffins make their games so accessible. In addition to Fridays being $1 beer night, they also offer discounts for students. I got tickets 4 rows from the ice behind the visitor's goal for $10 each last Friday.

I think people are taking it too seriously. It's quite obviously meant to be over-the-top and humorous.

I am the Walrus.

Most every hockey player is overpaid. Sure the cap hit hurts, but I'm in the minority here that hasn't bailed on Rafalski. As has been stated by others in this thread - he's been largely solid and it's not like he's the only star whose numbers have declined this year. Besides, most of his shots from the point are head hunters - which are always fun to watch.
-
Yeah, I really fail to see how this trade works. Even for the sake of team chemistry, there's no point in bringing in another new guy. We've already done plenty of that.
-
Boom. Roasted. Agree 100%

It's nice to have an enforcer-type like May, strictly in the name of keeping goons of our guys' backs, but I'd hate to see the loss of skilled players for him. Despite what Mr. Khan says, I could easily imagine May playing in Grand Rapids if he clears waivers.

What do you plan to do when the Olympic break goes on?
Travis replied to chukjones's topic in General
Miller's mask alone will be good for some key saves. I will live my life as I normally do, I do plan on catching some of the Games, though. -
This. Something about the Rangers just screams mediocrity. Year in, and year out. I know I'm not saying anything new, but I was just thinking the other day about the early-00's when everyone pointed at the Red Wings' spending and the Rangers were spending way more with way less to show for it.

But Friday is $1 beer night!

The NCAA Hockey final four is at ford field this year.
