I think you mean misogynistic. Regardless, Milbury is a dick. And while I don't like Crosby or the Pens and I love it when people rip them; somehow Milbury doing so feels hollow since all involved parties are assholes.

Smyly with the start against Toronto this afternoon, and he may very well have the Opening Day line-up behind him – CF Jackson RF Boesch 3B Cabrera 1B Fielder LF Young DH Raburn SS Peralta C Avila 2B Santiago

The most recent ESPN the Magazine has a feature on the park and the things that make it so 'special'. The Marlins front office makes no qualms about the fact that it is meant to be in attraction onto itself with its swimming pool in left center and the nightclub that exists within the park – it'll be good for the area it's in (a poor section of Little Havana) for the stadium to be a success. It'll be a lot better for baseball for the Marlins themselves to be a success, though.

I read somewhere that Jamie Moyer would have been the oldest starter on the Rockies' inaugural Opening Day line-up, too. Jim Price just brought up the idea that - without a decision this close to Opening Day - the Tigers might be trying to make a move to shore up 2B. Sounds like Raburn's defense has improved this Spring - but I still don't think anyone is sold on him as an everyday 2B. At this point it also sounds like Worth and Inge are about the same player and you have to wonder how much longer loyalty will keep Inge around when Worth should probably already have his spot.

Saw a piece on a high school or college player who could do this. He once faced a switch hitter and they kept switching back and forth throughout the at-bat to try and get an advantage. Eventually a rule was implemented - at whatever level of play they were at - that you had to designate your 'side' before the at-bat.
-
His group most certainly did – for the mere price of only $2 billion.

That's great. Glad you posted it. I got an e-mail about it last week but only ended up watching the trailer. The Griffins always do a really good job with their media and Occam Photography always serves them well. I'd like to see an extended version, myself.

Not sure what size you're looking for or if you're dead-set on it being a CCM but I found a couple on eBay. My Dad and I have always shared our closest connection through Red Wings hockey and I remember watching this with him. I was 10 when this happened and we were both so ready for this. The year before was my first full season as a Wings fan and I think this is the moment that cemented my fandom. I remember being so distraught by the Kris Draper injury and the Red Wings' playoff exit the year before and this was the sort of 'good guys win' poetic justice I needed back then. This, the '97, and the '08 Stanley Cups are my greatest memories of Red Wings hockey.

Not that I'm complaining, but there's an Official Beer Thread in the Off-Topic forum. I love stouts of all shapes and sizes, Samuel Smith is pretty good but I think there are better options - especially brewed here in Michigan (I realize you aren't here.) Right Brain Brewery's CEO Coffee Stout is one of the best I've ever had and is a current favorite. I even enjoy Founder's Oatmeal Stout quite a bit, despite thinking that they are largely overrated (definitely are in West Michigan, but at least people are experiencing craft beer). I've never been a fan of Stella, but can agree with some of the other beers of choice on your list - especially PBR out of the tap. I absolutely love beer of all kinds and will absolutely put an orange in a Blue Moon. However, I can understand someone not wanting a beer with fruit added if they are of the opinion that a beer should stand on its own merit - not because it's "not manly" to add fruit. There are hundreds of better beers out there - but at least they aren't giving people a bunch of Miller Lite to swill down.

It will look a lot like it.

I know that I'm a) resurrecting an old topic and b) replying to myself but I saw one in person last night. I went to the Griffins / Marlies tilt last night and spotted some guy wearing a Lightning jersey across the ice. I didn't think anything of it until I passed him on the way out. It was an Yzerman jersey with a GM wear the C would go. The worst of it is, across his chest there appeared to be some sort of corporate sponsorship logo. I'd hate to think that these things were ever a give away of any sort. I feel like I must look into this more, despite how painful it may be. I tried to take a picture of it, but since it's pure evil it didn't show up on camera.

Get ready to see a lot of this.

That's awesome! Congrats. Won't make it to any myself (had tickets to the snow storm game against the Ducks, but roads sucked too bad to go) but I won a pair last year - great feeling! I'm also pleased that it looks like Past Hossa is celebrating your news.

I haven't seen Conks in action with the Griffins yet, but I've heard he's been great in net. Hopefully he can shake the rust off, though I've heard he might get stuck in the AHL for the remainder of the season - if that's the case I hope the team plays better in front of him so I can finally take in an AHL playoff game. Sounds like the Vladdy jersey almost did the trick, though!
-
Obviously you're being (somewhat) facetious, but the Griffins are an obvious mix of NHL-level talent and AHLers. When I say obvious I mean - even as you watch them on the ice - and the likes of Nyquist, Andersson, Smith, etc. make up that core of NHLers, so it's not like we're calling up Jamie Johnson.

Thursday's Tigers postcard: Cabrera passes the test at 3B - and he stole a base! After committing an error on the first ball hit to him and going hitless in his first three games, he's batting .571 with 1 HR / 2 RBI / 1 SB & 0 E - granted that's 7 ABs and a handful of innings across 3 games; but I'm excited, dammit. I think he'll settle into the 3B role nicely. Sure, we'll be 'defensively weak' on on the left side and in the infield, but if he can get what he's supposed to like Peralta - then we'll be fine. A video of the play - as well as and first home runs of the Spring - can be found .In other news, Dave Dombrowski said that, "if you watched [inge] play second base, you'd think he'd played there the last 10 years". While that's obviously hyperbole, I think Inge is a real strong candidate to take that 2B job and I'm all for it. Give me .200 - .250 out of that 9 spot while playing great defense up the middle and I'm on board.
-
Glad you got to take in a game out there - I read about it. Tough loss for a group on the outside of the playoffs looking in. I don't think Nyquist is long for the AHL. He's far and away the most talented player on the ice whenever his skates hit it, and it's apparent from the second he gets out there until the second he's not.
-
"Prince Fielder drills the first pitch he sees in a Tigers uniform for an RBI double." per the Tigers' twitter. Welcome to Detroit.

Word is, Inge will get the start at 2B Saturday against the Braves - which I am all for. Like GoWings, I'll give him a shot there. He's certainly confident (see: cocky) about his chances there. When Leyland delivered the news about Inge's start he also said he'll plan on giving Santiago more time at SS - off the bench, of course - than anything. I love Ramon, but I could be okay with that - until we need him to play 2B. Saw the Gage article about the 611 ft. job, I guess he measured from where it landed - so who knows how far it rolled. Still, it isn't like the ball rolled 130 feet, it was a ******* bomb regardless.

Tigers' first exhibition game is tomorrow against Florida Southern and the line-up is as follows: 1. Austin Jackson, CF 2. Brennan Boesch, RF 3. Miguel Cabrera, 3B 4. Prince Fielder, 1B 5. Delmon Young, LF 6. Alex Avila, C 7. Jhonny Peralta, SS 8. Andy Dirks, DH 9. Ryan Raburn, 2B 1-7 is just nasty, but I don't know how you have Dirks and Young in the game and don't put Dirks in left. Bad news for AJ Burnett, too. Worse news for the Pirates.

Haha, yeah - I've never posted there, actually. I feel like my blood pressure is better for it.
