The Flyers look dangerous this year.
-
You're really playing the heel, eh?
-
Honestly, I'm completely fine with the lack of powerplay production. Obviously, they need to turn it around - and they will - but I'm thrilled to see them win without it, because it won't always be working.

I love the Red Wings more than a lot of things, but there's nothing better in sports than the way all of Michigan rallies around the Detroit Tigers. I took my cousin, a California native, to a Tigers game over the Summer and tried explaining to him how dedicated the city is to the Tigers; but even I couldn't have expected all this. Even living in Grand Rapids, every one wears their Tigers gear on game day and it's a topic of conversation to the point where it becomes the ubiquitous 'game'. With the exception of Monday night at Ford Field, the Tigers are the most important thing going right now and I think it's great. Michigan needs something to rally around, even still, and what better than a team that's beaten and tired and playing their hearts out?

Opening Night at the Van Andel tonight. I'm excited to see what kind of horrible things Nyquist can do to other AHLers.

Good to see Abby picking up where he left off last year. +1 for punching the ref in the ass.

Don't like the guy, but I agree with what he said here. The most I can muster is this:

They're just words over the PA. The average urbanite sees 5,000 advertising messages a day - just add it to the list.

Asham said after the game that his gestures were "uncalled for" and "kind of classless" on his part - according to a retweet from Pierre LeBrun. Seems like Asham got caught up in the heat of the moment, and obviously didn't realize the extent to which he destroyed Beagle, a non-fighter who was way in over his head.

I agree with LeftWinger to a degree. There are classics that should always be played and staples that are good, too, but are also a lot of questionable choices on the music front. So now DTE, too, eh? Maybe Mr. Illitch has some big plans for the Tigers off-season spending.

I know 'big win' is an obvious thing to say when their backs are up against the wall, but the fact that they all came together like the team we know we have makes it so much better. I hadn't realized until this series how utterly stacked the Rangers line-up is. It's completely unreal. Our Tigers are hanging tough, and I couldn't be more proud.

Big win tonight. Big, big win.

I actually scored tickets for last night's game. It was an incredible atmosphere and I don't think I'll ever forget Inge tying it up, but what a let down of a loss. As soon as Hamilton doubled the whole mood changed at the ballpark. And when Cruz's ball landed in the Rangers' bullpen the place cleared out, dejected. By the time we walked passed the Fillmore, the game was already over. This series has been way closer than any score would indicate, obviously, but it'd be nice to see the Tigers on the other end of one of these fun last-at-bat celebrations that the Rangers keep having. I've got all the faith in the world in JV, but going back to Texas is going to be tough. Did anyone hear or see any mention made of a fan who fell through the glass barricade in 440? I've been looking online, but to no avail.

Wow. What a way to lose, eh? Tigers leave 13 men on base and give up a walk-off grand slam. Here's hoping the boys can recover from this one, because it was brutal.

I don't know if it was mentioned in the broadcast, since I missed it, but the Wings' Wheel Deal blog also said that 'Love for Lokomotiv' patches were sewn inside the home opener jerseys and will be auctioned off in the future. http://redwings.nhl.com/club/blogpost.htm?id=3096&cmpid=twt:shr:main

Obviously, the Hudler trade talk has reached the saturation point; but isn't it more valuable to the Wings if Hudler and Filppula simply perform at high levels as opposed to 'well enough to be traded'? Personally, I'd rather see them play well and help this team than play just well enough for us to try and steal someone else.

The Tigers just announced tonight's line-up, featuring Delmon batting 3rd – CF Jackson 2B Santiago LF Young 1B Cabrera DH Martinez RF Raburn SS Peralta C Avila 3B Inge I feel so much better about our line-up with Young in it, even if his effectiveness is limited compared to the ALDS.

I thought it was funny that the Red Wings twitter made it sound like Abdelkader destroyed the guy, still, he played really well last night.
-
Porcello in. Dan just said that he was slated for game 4, so I'm really confused about how he was supposed to start '2 in Texas'.
-
I feel like it's to be expected with Babcock and the Wings. Like 55 said, these players know how to play with each other and are used to shuffling of lines.
-
Yeah, it sounded on the radio like Verlander and the Tigers were really frustrated with the strike zone. I didn't come back after the first rain delay. Excited to see that it's 3-2 and the Tigers were finally able to get to Wilson.

Stream doesn't work for me. Keeps saying offline. Hm.

I honestly barely notice it. That said, I only see post-game photos.

I expect the Wings to take this one on gritty performances by Verlander and Cleary.
