I got 2 upper level tickets for $36 out the door.

Yeah, I don't have any doubt that Brunnstrom gets the newly-opened spot after the way he's been playing this preseason.
-
Orioles are hot right now, and you can't expect JV to be perfect every night. Even if the Tigers can pull into a tie with Texas, Detroit gets home field, too.
-
To my knowledge, GameCenter doesn't work for people who live in-market.
-
I'd be surprised if Penny made the playoff roster. Especially after tonight's masterful performance.

Things are still kind of slow, so I thought this might be a welcome sight. Plus a write-up here: http://islanders.nhl.com/club/blogpost.htm?id=2761

Agreed. It could really go either way. I can't decide if I want the Tigers to play a team who limped into the playoffs or a team who had to play their best baseball just to get there. The Rays pitching staff is spooky scary, though, and the Tigers offense could hang with the Sox'.

We're also talking about it over here: Classy move by Pavel to honor his friend.

The Champs! Pictures of the celebration are up on the Freep.

Hopefully the Wings honor McCrimmon and Salei in some capacity. Be it a sticker on the helmets or something within the Joe.

Knew the streak had to end eventually, but that's okay - 1 game left.

Yeah, it seems like the MLB is really trying to harvest that Pirates thing. It will be cool to have the Cardinals in town, and I'd like to make it to Wrigley.
-
A lot of teams do this already. Baseball has been doing it for years. Not terribly surprising, really.
-
Sorry about that. You were right, I just got a few hours ahead of myself.

Tigers magic number is down to 3 with their longest win streak since 1968. Unleash all the superlatives, this team is going nuts right now and I love it.

Just read an interesting piece of information - There have only been 4 occasions where the Manager of the Year Award has only gone to someone whose team finished outside of the top 2 in their division. That'd mean an uphill battle for Maddon and Acta. Maybe that chain-smoking mad man has a chance. Great article from the Freep about how great of a guy VMart is, too: http://www.freep.com/article/20110909/SPORTS02/109090431/John-Lowe-Tigers-Martinez-leads-field-clubhouse?odyssey=nav|head

Agreed for me, but flip Maddon and Acta.

Magic number is 13. If the Rangers lose tonight, the Tigers alone will have the 2nd best record of division leaders.

Two huge sweeps for the good guys. Great comeback win today and another victory for Verlander despite him not having his best stuff. I listen to Dan and Jim on the radio, but watched a couple of highlights and they look like they're playing with a lot of fun and a ton of swagger. They know they're the best team in this division and they are playing like it. 19 games over .500 at this point - tied with the Rangers for home field advantage. Texas has yet to play, though.

sad day.

They could be a lot worse, but I agree that the away jerseys strongly resemble the Blue Jackets' style. Could have done a lot worse, especially considering how atrocious the Thrashers' uniforms were. Oddly enough, I sense the 'military ties' that they were attempting with the blue horizontal piping across the arms. The vertical piping seems to pay homage to the Thrashers' uniform style as well. I'm not wild about them, though I am happy they went with a classically-inspired look. I think the homes will actually look pretty good on top of the pants that we've seen already.

MLB.com: Tigers biggest trade deadline winners so far: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110905&content_id=24250016&vkey=perspectives&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb Big, big win for good guys today. Bouncing back from a long, albeit great, game and a late-night arrival. Fister was huge today and the Tigers capitalized on the few chances they had against Jimenez. Great to see this team winning in all situations. Also, they're only .5 GB from Texas for the 2nd-best record among division leaders and home field advantage.

Here's hoping they can keep the momentum going from this series win. Sweeping the Sox in grand style and (hopefully) sending them back to hell.
