I have no idea why people are actually upset at the idea of him wearing number 64. It's just a number. At the center of it, it's no different than someone wanting to wear a number for sentimental reasons of because it's what they've always worn. It doesn't really mean anything outside of identifying who's wearing the sweater.

The Griffins just posted a 'Congratulations' to Joey on their Facebook. Hopefully it's not a sign that he's moved into the back-up role.
-
Fingers crossed that he ends up here.
-
I really hope it's an AHL deal. I do not want to see Joey MacDonald be our back-up.

It's great to see the Tigs grab the top spot right before the All - Star break. My confidence for the second-half comes from the fact that they just sort of hung around throughout the end of the first-half. It's not like they played lights out baseball, which would have me worried that they'd come back flat. They've just been there the whole time. Fitting that JV gets that win, too. Last Tiger to win 12 games before the All - Star break?

Because Dick Williams was the manager of the '84 Padres team that the Tigers beat in the World Series.

Bill Peters, formerly of the Rockford Ice Hogs is the second assistant coach, according to the Red Wings Facebook. LINK

Griffins are getting nasty specifically for Marlies games.
-
I think this one might be more fitting / relate-able.

Well said on all accounts. Good for Penny to get the win in a really well-pitched game from him. Glad the Tigers' bats finally woke up. Max more so than any of the other starters needs to find himself. He raced out to those 9 wins and has been well below average ever since. Verlander and Scherzer should be a great 1 - 2 punch capable of stealing games for us. JV has been 1, but Max needs to be the 2.

Grimson's out, he's gone soft. http://www.tvspots.tv/video/32159/FOUNDATION-FOR-A-BETTER-LIFE--HOCKEY

I think that everything I've ever known about Mike Commodore just changed.

Yeah, I was thinking about that earlier. I'm for giving Hudler the first half of the 11-12 season to make right - and I'd love to see a redemption story of sorts. Hopefully he's putting in the work this off-season to provide us what we were looking for out of him last year.
-
That wouldn't do anyone any good. Hudler isn't a bottom 6 grinding forward. He wouldn't be effective in the role, and it would be a waste of a forward spot.

Ian White is also a gamer. I think that him actually taking less for a guaranteed home and a chance to win says a lot about the kind of guy and player he is (As opposed to Wiz cashing in with mediocrity). I'm sure it was already posted, but I read this article in the Detroit Free Press over the weekend. Welcome to Detroit, Mr. White. I look forward to you wearing a Wings sweater.

Yeah, Knapp's firing was largely reactionary. I doubt it changes anything. The pitching staff is what's struggling, not the coach. Obviously, it doesn't help that they've had 2 days off in the last 40. Here's hoping for a series win in KC and a rebound after the All-Star break.

Amadio is a good dude. Was the Griffins representative for AHL's Man of the Year award for his efforts within the community. Video on DRW.com of Kenny talking about their acquisitions featured this most-excellent picture of Exelby.
-
Just saw that. I'm really intrigued now to see who these coaches might be.
-
Just lots of turnover since the Griffins have been down right atrocious the past 2 seasons.

Welp - JV got outdueled by Haren last night. That said, Kendrick is out at 1st long before he ever comes around to score. In all, the officiating was an absolute joke - but it doesn't change the fact that the Tigers' bats weren't there. Bless You Boys says Hiroka Kiroda (SP, Dodgers), Jeff Keppinger (2B, Astros) and Wandy Rodriguez (SP, Astros) are all potential targets for the Tigers at this point; though Guillen is slowly making his way back to the majors. Obviously, this Tigers team needs a capable second baseman and someone to pitch well that doesn't wear # 35. Hopefully we don't end up with Huff-and-Washburn-type deals.
