Quoted for truthiness.

Really nice ceremony before the game. I love Dan Dickerson, he did a wonderful job. Consider this my official proposal for the movement of Casper Wells to 2B. I would love to see a line-up of: CF Jackson 2B Wells RF Ordonez 1B Cabrera DH Martinez C Avila SS Peralta LF Boesch 3B Leyland's mustache Speed and quickness at the top and big bats all the way through the line-up until we get to Brandon Inge's crappy knees.

Any source for this rumor?

JV is unreal. We will be talking about him years into the future.

The Emergency Assistance Fund?

I'd sure Freudian was the intended word.

I don't think Brewer was available for him to 'miss' and I'll pass on offering too much for a defenseman with a history of concussions for 1 year.

From the Canadiens: PRESS RELEASE MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier announced today the signing of defenseman Andrei Markov to a three-year contract (2011-12 to 2013-14). As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. “We are very pleased that Andrei has made the decision to pursue his career with the Montreal Canadiens. A player drafted and developed by our organization, Andrei brings a high level of talent and leadership to our team. We look forward to having him back in our lineup for the start of the upcoming season,” said Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier. Markov, 32, completed in 2010-11 his 10th season with the Canadiens in the NHL. The defenseman registered three points (1 goal, 2 assists) in seven games. He served four penalty minutes and maintained a +2 plus/minus differential, while averaging 22:54 seconds of ice time per game. Markov suffered a season-ending injury to his right knee on November 13 against Carolina. Since 2000-01, Markov has registered 366 points (81 goals, 285 assists) in 623 NHL regular-season games. The 6’0’’, 209 lbs defenseman has recorded 361 penalty minutes and maintained a +31 plus/minus differential. Markov has scored 41 of his goals on the powerplay and two on the penalty kill. He has accumulated 18 points (3 goals, 15 assists) in 49 career NHL playoff contests. A native of Voskresensk, Russia, Markov was the Canadiens’ sixth pick (third round, 162nd overall) at the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He was part of the Russian team at the 2006 Torino and 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. - The deal is apparently worth $5.75 mil / year.

At this point people just want Kenny to make a move. Even if it's a weak trade.
-
No. Call it personal, but I don't want Campbell anywhere near my team. He's grossly overpaid.
-
The Lightning did pick Ritola up on waivers.
-
That's true, haha. Bob McKenzie reporting that Smyth for Brule is dead because of concerns over Brule's health.

If Burns came here, Weber would give him a year long concussion.

The likelihood of the Wings getting Doughty or Johnson away from LA is -50 to 0%. The guy who wrote the article is no different than you or I speculating for the fun of it. Like was previously said, it'd be insane for the Kings to add Richards if it was going to cost them a top Dman.
-
So what will all the 'trade him for dirt!' guys do if Hudler does get shipped out and produces elsewhere? Will he get the Quincey / Leino / Fleischmann / Ritola Hall of Fame treatment?
-
There's no way the Wings don't spend. Illitch is absolutely loaded and loves spending money on Championships. The article also goes on to say this: Just because we haven't landed a name yet doesn't mean anything. Free agency has even started yet and people are acting like it's August. I don't know why anyone's bringing up Carter and Richards like we would've pursued them, anyway. You can't blame Ken for 'missing out' on 2 guys we never had our sights on.

I seriously hate Ryan Raburn at this point and blame and his horrible defense for letting the Diamondbacks back in this game. The inning would have ended one batter later had Raburn not eaten that double play ball, as such, it ended 3 runs later. Coke's biggest issue seems to be that he can't pitch when things get hairy. But I agree, if Coke is going 3 or 4 strong innings - I think it's a sign that he belongs in middle relief.

This. I think a lot of people get caught up on the idea that Wisniewski would actually take a hometown discount, or has been waiting to come to Detroit, when that simply isn't the case. If Holland feels this is what needs to be done to secure a player the Wings want - then by all means. It's a different situation that Bryzgalov, who wasn't getting paid by his team no matter what, and Liles in that Montreal is forcing the hand of Wiz's potential suitors.
-
Buffalo getting Regehr and Kotalik.
-
Even if it means potentially losing out on the one defenseman that it would seem the team has been focused on signing July 1?
-
We could try, but the Kings have $15mil to sign 6 players. They're a lot more likely to move someone like Scuderi before they part with Doughty.
-
Because he acquired John Michael Liles? It's not a contest to see who can bring in the most new faces.
-
I know. I don't understand how giving up a player, in Hulder, for Wiz's rights and a 2nd rounder is better than giving up a 2nd rounder for rights. I understand that Huds is unpopular with just about every one on this board - but there's no point in dumping him for rights when we can get those very same rights for a pick.
-
You don't want to get rid of a 2nd for rights, but you want to get rid of a player for rights and a 2nd?
