Actually, it's far more likely that the term fan came from a shortened version of the word, "fanciers" given the era in which it was coined - the early 1900s.
-
That's what I'm saying. They've got a cup to defend.

Eriksson is no slouch.

4 years / $3.75mil per http://penguins.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=676285&cmpid=pit-twt-penguins

TSN also listed Detroit as one of the teams who reached out to Scuderi, but who knows in what capacity.
-
Scuderi is headed to free agency. Wouldn't mind adding him.
-
He's stated he won't play another season in the AHL. Of course, now I can't find the quote. But he feels he's earned his spot with the parent club (which he has) and doesn't want to spend another season in Grand Rapids.

Dreger: Filppula looking for $5.5m/season over at least 7 years

Leaf fans seem ready to get rid of him, that's all I've seen. -
@TSNBobMcKenzie: Correction, Filip Kuba's buyout from FLA is not a compliance buyout. Regular buyout. Buyout $ count against the Panthers' cap.
-
@Real_ESPNLeBrun: No one with the Jackets nor with his camp will confirm this, but I believe Nathan Horton's site visit today was in Columbus...
-
The idea of seizures terrify me. Hopefully he really is all right.

Horton comes with a slew of injury concerns from his history of concussions to this shoulder issue that some are worried will be repeat - as well as a desire to play in a warm weather, non-traditional, hockey market.edit: I don't know why I read this as being a Horton-focused post. My bad. I've already thrown my two cents in when it comes to Clarkson, so I won't bother making anyone read that again.

Report: Red Wings out on Lecavalier - signs with Philly 5@4.5 per

Not allegedly, the Flyers are over the cap with the signing of Lecavailer. -
So, if say, a team picks up Colaiacovo's contract and he doesn't clear waivers - Detroit would still have both of their buyouts, no?
-
Absolutely. Defensemen always take awhile to develop. I think people are quick to judge because of the Calder trophy hype that was flying around these parts which were unrealistic.
-
People seem to forget, too, that we already have our long-term contracts. In this age of the NHL a team can only realistically afford 1-2. Suter and Parise would have been nice additions, but as you and countless others have stated - that term is ridiculous. This isn't the NBA and teams can't afford to ice a handful of superstars, we're just spoiled because we've had ours for so long.
-
They'll get it, but it's a crazy salary demand for a guy with a couple of good years under his belt. Sure, he could be a late-blooming star in the making, but he could also be a product of his system. I don't want Kenny to spend $42 million against the cap to find out. The Flyers' successes in swinging for the fences should be an indication of how well these large and unstable contracts work.
-
What time tomorrow does the compliance buyout window close?
-
It shouldn't be overlooked that Tatar has said flatly that he has no intention of spending another season in the AHL.
-
$60 million for 19 players occupied for next year and $48 million already occupied by 8 players the season after next.
-
He wants to play in warm weather, per Helene St. James and other sources.

An acquaintance of mine created a Dan Cleary Drinking Game, one of the rules state that you must finish your drink whenever Dan Cleary scores a goal. Through the grapevine Dan Cleary somehow heard about this game and sent all of them glasses and autographed photos that said, "Drink up".

I don't think Jay Feaster's moves are a good measuring stick. -

The difference in talent has a lot to do with it.
