From today's 'Afternoon Shift' Griffins blog: "The enigmatic Igor Grigorenko (2007-08) appears to have found the stardom that he couldn’t achieve in North America, standing fifth in the KHL with 23 goals for Salavat Yulaev Ufa."

He still works for ESPN, he does SportsCenter and throws in a few hockey references while covering NBA highlights.

Wasn't, 'they' just Bill Guerin?

Cooke is a total P.O.S. and was the one thing I hated watching about that HBO show. The guy is a total s***head who gets lauded by fans and teammates as being a, 'do whatever it takes' kind of guy who grinds it out to make his teammates better. He's not a heart and soul guy, he's just a ******. I like Marc Savard, but even if I didn't - you obviously hate to see a guy's career take this turn. Another year wasted for Savard, hopefully he can make a full recovery by next Fall.

What an unfortunate situation.

That's nuts. I'm pulling for Keith Jones to be gone.

I've got my PC hooked up to my Vizio by way of VGA cable with a male-to-male 1/8" cable from the headphone jack to the audio-in on the back. If you can run HDMI cables, you won't need a 1/8" audio, because you should be able to run the sound through them.

The Griffins played pretty well in last night's 2-1 loss to the North-leading Bulldogs. Solid game throughout, but the story here is Kolosov's injury. Details are still foggy as he gets checked out today, but he got tangled up behind the net and went down hard - immediately calling for the refs to stop play. He was helped off the ice and the Griffins official website says that he likely suffered and MCL tear. Bad news for the Griffs and Kolosov who obviously needs all the time he can get to continue developing.

LeBrun is guessing he's done for the year, too. @Real_ESPNLeBrun Pierre LeBrun: Malkin likely out of the year; will need surgery

5 goals should be worth fries and a turnover.

Yeah, I can totally get behind that. Especially because Franzen scores in a seemingly effortless manner, you can't help but think that he's just Fedoroving (not trying). I'm hardly an enormous Fedorov supporter - his departure always left a bad taste in my mouth - but it's a hard comparison to make beyond the effort thing.
-
Doesn't Johnson get ejected for crossing center ice in that situation? Or am I totally fogged on that rule?
-
I remember Fedorov's 5-goaler being blacked out. I can understand the point your alluding to with your post, but as others have said - Fedorov was so much better in his own zone. Franzen is great, and has the ability to in any given game; but Fedorov was elite when he was a Red Wing.

If Subban doesn't jump, it's a regular hip check. Not quite sure what he thought he was gaining out of that one.

Beyond annoying. I remember a number of people on the board arguing that it was actually Colorado's announcer. Roy was headed for McCarty and Shanahan cut him off. The two of them meeting in mid-air is my singular favorite moment in Red Wings history.

I'm really into the Lightning Hockey Club patch, and I enjoy the simplification of their jerseys (not too into 'modern' styles) - but I don't know that they had to go quite so simple; especially with the typeface they used for the numbers. Full article HERE. Thoughts?

I like him. He's a solid enough stay at home defenseman that ads grit while playing with the youngsters. Definitely getting what we paid for and is a step up from post-concussion Lilja.

Expected and exciting for the Griffins who will be happy to have them back tomorrow night. I think they both performed well with the big club, especially considering the circumstances. -
We're already realizing it right now. Immovable, not immobile. The implication being that it can't be moved against its will.
