Ugh, Greg De Vries was such a ******, too.

Malts is replacing Verbeek as a scout. Is there video of his announcement anywhere?

It's the damn EDGE jerseys! But seriously: Okay, maybe not so seriously. But seriously. Anyway, Jimmy put up a strong effort in the SO. I didn't see the game, but obviously the Wings let the Avs back in 3 times throughout regulation. I agree that Detroit always just seems to run out of time in OT and would love to see 10 minutes of it. Like has been said, though, they already looked better last night than they did at almost any other point in shootouts last year - so I'll panic if it becomes a trend again.

When he took a puck to the chest on a blocked shot and his heart stopped? Edit: Found this article. Link: http://articles.latimes.com/1998/may/11/sports/sp-48660

Teemu Pulkkinen is tearing it up with Helsinki Jokerit

I hate Marc Crawford and various members of those teams - Lemieux, Foote, Ozolinsh, Deadmearsh, etc; but definitely don't have a hatred for the Av's as a team anymore.

I was really looking forward to what he could bring to the Griffins, but I can understand. He has a young daughter and a family that he probably didn't want to live 3 hours from all year long. Thanks for the years, Malts.

Pretty classless move by Wisniewski. He seems like a pretty big ******, anyway. -
The Blues are seriously all over the Ducks. I can't believe how bad the Ducks look.

I'll put my faith in it, too. I love Kevin Smith and know he's passionate about hockey. I was in a smaller metal band that did quite a bit of touring, so I thought perhaps we'd crossed paths. Soil's pretty big, though, right?

GREAT news. Clicked 'Like' so hard on Facebook that I broke my computer desk.

Someone actually wore one to Griffins opening night. I pointed it out to my girlfriend who had never seen one. Needless to say, she recoiled in horror. Nice to know it wasn't just my school. Having said that, I can't pretend like I didn't save up and get a Tar Heels basketball jersey. And - at least you admit that the 97 Champs jersey is a foul. The first step toward recovery is admitting there's a problem. Honestly, though, I think you get a pass based purely on excitement for that '97 Cup.

What band did you merch for? I'll agree with anyone who's said Miracle is their favorite hockey movie. I watched it 3 times in one night once while doing homework. Mystery, Alaska is good, too. I loved the Mighty Ducks when I was a kid, and they're cool movies - but definitely don't compare.

Right? He said during his intermission interview that Cleary did a great job on the set-up.

10/10 GDT: Grand Rapids Griffins @ Rockford IceHogs
Travis replied to Aussie_Wing's topic in General
Armadio actually started his career in 2001-02 with the Griffins. He bounced around the AHL after leaving the team, and was a part of the back-to-back Hershey Bears Calder Cups last year and the year before. Because of his 'veteran' status and the AHL's rules on veterans, there was no room for him in Hershey this year - so he's back. -
I couldn't get the exact numbers, but the 'Hawks were definitely able to offer Hossa more than the Wings. Something in the range of $12 mil +. The common school of thought is that it was one or the other. Would've loved to have kept Hossa around, but I'll take Franzen any day.

It looked like Kovalchuk had a lot more experience than Mike Green.

For what it's worth, Meech laid down in front of a shot in OT and started a huge break the other way. Obviously, it wasn't enough. It doesn't help that MacDonald didn't stop a single puck in the shootout. Aussie_Wing was right, Janik and Smith were the top pairing.
-
I think these are just potential lines and pairings.

If only there were a way to put Meech's spirit into another body

Great attitude. Glad to have him back in GR. Obviously, it's gotta be hard for him; but you're right - he's got a great outlook. Plus, living here rules. Maybe I'll track him down and get him a beer or something, haha. -
Yeah, I could see Meech in the forward slot. I follow your thinking with the Janik/Smith pairing and agree that Janik is the best choice as far as a mentor so-to-speak. I didn't see Smith in action during the pre-season, so I just don't know if he'll be a liability on the 1st pairing. Guess I'll find out tonight!
