Draper's face after The Turtle boarded him

It's from TSN, the Canadian ESPN. Still awesome, regardless. If you're talking about the audio from the video, that's Detroit's announcer at the time. Pre-Ken Daniels, but Mickey Redmond is in on it.

Dustin Byfuglien will move to defense

Didn't Byfuglien spend a chunk of last year on D in Chicago?
  4. I'd love to take an old Shanahan jersey off someone's hands if there's anyone who doesn't want theirs anymore. I've got a Starter Shanny from '98, but it doesn't fit me anymore and - being that he's my all-time favorite Wing - I'd love to replace it. So whose got one?

Fantastic. Thanks! Mike is looking good in the Winged Wheel.

Am I just an idiot? I get no photos.
  8. The number a player wears becomes a part of him. There's not a hockey fan alive who doesn't associate "99" with Wayne Gretzky or "66" with Mario Lemieux. But not every player has a number to himself. For example, five of the Original Six have retired No. 9 (Toronto, the lone holdout, lists it among its "Honored Numbers"). No. 1, the number that for decades was given to the starting goaltender, no longer is available in a number of cities, where it's long since been raised to the rafters. Some numbers are overloaded; others only have a couple of applicants -- and most players wear more than one number during their careers. In trying to determine the best of the best, we've attempted to limit players to the number they wore the most, or the one they're best known for wearing. Given those parameters, here's a look at the best of the best of NHL players who've worn Nos. 00 to 33. Also on the list are Luc Robitaille, Brett Hull, with Datsyuk and Osgood as Runners-Up to their numbers. The list: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=536766&utm_source=bleacherreport.com

Just closed the PuckDaddy article because I didn't want to get annoyed by Ellis' "problems" and came here to find it right at the top, haha.

Shanny says he'll always feel like a Red Wing

Might actually be my favorite Red Wing of all time. This thread inspired me to browse the internet for a Shanny jersey to replace my weak (and much too large) Starter one from back in the day. I found one on Craigslist and right now it's in the, 'too good to be true' section - but we'll see what shakes loose.

    Mike Comrie to Penguins

rumour: Mike Comrie has agreed to contract with the Penguins. Ryan Rishaug says 1 year for Comrie. One year deal for less money then last year with the Oilers http://twitter.com/DarrenDreger

    Kovalchuk Deal approved

Hossa, Luongo, Savard, etc. are cleared along with Kovalchuk's deal - as per the new agreement. It will be the last of its kind, though, and all future contracts will no doubt be further scrutinized and perhaps denied.

    Met Mickey Redmond Today!

You paid $26 and didn't stay for the game? You know they sell $5 lawn seats, right? I thought about going to today's game, because I love 'Caps and own FLEX tickets - but opted for Tuesday's season finale instead. Glad to hear Mickey was available, though. It seems like the special guests are sometimes merely in attendance.

    MLB 2010 Season Thread

It's not putting him in for the 9th that kills us. It's when he comes in during the 8th in a 4-out save situation. It needs to stop because it never works. There is no way the Tigers land Crawford. The Yankees want him, and they're going to get him. I'll hold out hope that maybe we'll make a play for Cliff Lee.

Red Wings @ Maple Leafs (Pre-season)

I think I'll be at the Joe when Chicago comes to town in the pre-season for a bachelor party. I honestly care more about the game.

    MLB 2010 Season Thread

Crawford would be awesome, but where does he fit? We have a lead-off man and CF in Austin Jackson. Honestly, if there's one spot that the Tigers are deep in - it's the outfield. The infield is our biggest concern. I love the addition of Peralta at short, but would love to see another bat come into the mix. Honestly, if they could pick up an aging bat at 1B he could DH most of the time and then give Cabby the random days off he might need.

    MLB 2010 Season Thread

Damon was quoted by ESPN as saying, "I love wearing the Old English D" and, "I love Detroit". I'd love to see him re-signed in the off-season. Maggs and Inge, too. I'm really liking Rhymes at 2B, but I'd love to see the Tigers pick up some support in the line-up for Cabby. Maybe a big bat at 3rd/DH, or Catcher. Laird can walk, and honestly - Guillen can, too. He's hurt way too much.

    MLB 2010 Season Thread

Yeah, what's up with this? I'm not too familiar with the waivers system after the trade deadline in the MLB. Inge has been placed on waivers, too, and could be traded. Damon has a no-trade clause and one of the teams on his 'no-trade list' is Boston. Tigers.com says he wants to stay in Detroit, but what happens if he options his ntc? Is he definitely staying here, or can the Sox still somehow get him?
  22. Comparing apples to oranges, aren't we? I fail to see the correlation between what Primeau said in 1996 and this year's squad.

How big of a Wings fan is your Wife/Girlfriend/Significant Other?

I am so sorry. I've replied already, but I can expand. My girlfriend isn't huge on watching games on TV unless they're playoff games. She can enjoy it a lot more when there's "something on the line". We have partial season tickets to the Griffins, though, and she loves it. I'm going to buy her a Jimmy Howard t-shirt before the season starts. Between her love of goaltenders (she was all-state in high school soccer) and Jimmy's former status as a Griffin, it's the perfect combination! Little did I know, during the '08/'09 playoffs she actually watched games without me being around (we were long distance) and grew pretty fond of Ozzie. She told me she didn't want me to get her a Howard jersey if he was going to be delegated to back-up like her other favorite player. She also brought up the fact that when we move out of Michigan in the next year or so, we're going to have to get Center Ice. Now if I can just get her into the Tigers.
  24. I'm someone who still has disdain for Keith Primeau. Defensemen have always been my favorite players on the ice, and Paul Coffey was my first favorite Red Wing. I always looked at it as Primeau's requesting to be traded as having taken Paul Coffey away from my team. Looking back now, Coffey and Primeau were replaced by maybe my all-time favorite Red Wing - so it eases the aggression somewhat; but based on my experiences Primeau will always come across negatively to me. I agree with your Hossa point, not that he was the biggest of all time - but that he was definitely a scapegoat. Just because a new contract couldn't be agreed upon (which everyone should have expected), Hossa was suddenly hit with all the blame. Of course, it's easier to blame the guy who leaves town. Don't get me wrong, he had a disappointing Finals - I would never argue he didn't - but everyone on the team lost those 4 games.

How big of a Wings fan is your Wife/Girlfriend/Significant Other?

Same thing with my girlfriend, except during the playoffs - she'll watch games then. She also got kind of into Team USA during the Winter Olympics.
