I guess I understand the backlash, but he is a Thrasher now. Imagine how much it must've sucked for him to get his walking papers after playing such a huge part in the Cup victory. I'm not too superstitious, and if I'm a Thrasher fan I think it's rad that he's embracing his new team in such a way.

Should I complain about the jersey customization?
Travis replied to Behind Enemy Lines in CO's topic in General
That could very well be with shipping included. I got one from DHGate for $42 shipped. The imperfections were too much for me, but some of the Winter Classic ones look fairly accurate. -

No reason not to. They made a mistake, they should know about it. -
You just answered your own question. Mitchell made $3.5 million last year. I'd love to have him to, but unfortunately you can't switch the Salary Cap to 'off'.

Let's see if I can do this without looking up the rosters for other teams. Bruins - Marc Savard Sabres - Ryan Miller Canadiens - Tom Pyatt Senators - Daniel Alfredsson Leafs - Brett Lebda (For not being a Wing) Devils - Zach Parise Isles - John Tavares Rangers - Chris Drury Flyers - Daniel Brierre Penguins - Paul Martin Thrashers - Ben Eager Hurricanes - Erik Cole Panthers - Tomas Vokoun Lightning - Martin St. Louis Capitals - Alex Ovechkin Flames - Jarome Ignila Avalanche - Paul Stastny Oilers - Taylor Hall (?) Wild - John Madden Canucks - Ryan Kesler Blackhawks - Marian Hossa Blue Jackets - Rick Nash Red Wings - Niklas Kronwall Predators - Matthew Lombardi Blues - Jaroslav Halak Ducks - Bobby Ryan Stars - Stephane Robidas Kings - Ryan Smyth Coyotes - Lee Stempniak Sharks - Joe Pavelski I had to check some rosters, but I stand by (almost) all my choices. I've got a lot of new faces on my list. One part new places, one part liking them on their old teams.

The Freep is reporting the Wings want Maltby to return, but on a 2-way contract: http://www.freep.com/article/20100811/SPORTS05/8110381/1356/SPORTS/Red-Wings-want-Kirk-Maltby-to-stick-around

Weren't the Tigers and the Wings in the toilet when Illitch bought the teams? It's not like he needs a whole ton of knowledge as an owner, hire the right people and throw money at it. Like you said, he's always breeding success - so it can't hurt.

I think I'm in the stark minority, but I much prefer the Reebok jerseys to the old CCM/Nike jerseys. I like that they're slimmer fitting, that was my gripe about the old jerseys.

I guess it's sort of ironic for me to post in this thread, but here's my vote:

I think you maybe grabbed the wrong quote? I'm not against it at all.. I just can't afford all the jerseys I want, haha.

Just saw this on MLive.com Very cool news from DetroitRedWings.com's Bill Roose: Mike Modano briefly touched upon playing in front of his parents and a number no-no regarding his choice of jersey number: August 6, DetroitRedWings.com: “Obviously, they’re very excited to see me back,” Modano said. “And if this happens to be my last year than they want to be able to watch my last year of hockey, so they’re excited to have that opportunity with a lot of friends and family that will be able to watch me more often than they were able to when I was in Dallas.” The NHL’s all-time leading American-born scorer was asked about the number that he’ll wear with the Red Wings. He had worn No. 9 throughout his playing career, but that number has been out of circulation since Gordie Howe retired. “I wanted No. 6, but they told me about Larry Aurie,” said Modano, referring to Aurie, who played between 1927-39, and had his number retired by former Wings owner James Norris. “I thought it would be easy to just flip 9 to 6,” Modano said. “I would have loved 6, but maybe 90.”

There are already Modano Wings jerseys on eBay. When am I gonna see a player tee? I wouldn't get a Modano jersey, but I just don't have the money to swing it. I've got a blank jersey I'm having customized, but it'll say Kronwall on it. I also have a Stevie Y jersey that I've given to my Dad and a Shanahan jersey from back in the day. Though, I've gotta say, watching the '97 and '98 Cup wins makes me think maybe I should put Shanny's name on this new one, since the old one definitely doesn't fit.

'Modano also thought about wearing No. 6. We'll keep you posted.' - @DetroitRedWings EDIT Hockeytown Authentics just posted this on Facebook:

lolllll The actual jerseys aren't so 'primary red' looking which is nice; but the Calgary C does not fit with the throwback idea. At all.
-
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this or not. I know there was curiosity about what number he would use. ESPN lists him on the roster and as having #90.
-
I've got a blank away that I'm going to get numbered by SportsK right before the season starts. I'm fairly positive that I'm going with Kronner.
-
The idea of Willie Mitchell joining the Wings is a positive one to me, but something tells me that the reality of it would leave me disappointed.
-
I take Eaves over Miller, personally. I feel that they offer essentially the same thing. Though I liked the Eaves, Miller, Helm line when it was in place last year.
-
I'm a lot more excited than I thought I'd be. Initially I was all about it, but all of that seemed to subside when it became somewhat of a circus. I'm excited for the possibilities and what this means for the team's scoring; does this make Miller an afterthought? I can't really see Abby spending another year in Grand Rapids.
-
So did I.
-
Everything hinges on Modano at this point.
-
That's really awesome of Abby, especially since it sounds like you sat him down for an interview, lol.
-
If the Wings aren't involved then I don't see myself watching a Lightning game this season. Of course I wish nothing but the best for Stevie Y, but I have no interest in watching their team.
-
Yeah, it definitely is. I was just going to post and inquire why everyone isn't wearing one.
-
Just a proposal.
