I think the only reason he really said that was that at the time, those were his two choices. I don't know if it was a matter of sentiment. Either way, I'm sort of sick of the whole Modano thing. Of course he adds a legitimate 3rd line scoring threat; and I understand that we have enough grinders in the bottom 6 - but I feel like we're losing Miller either way, and I don't know if Abdelkader needs another year in Grand Rapids.

At first, my sentiments were all for Modano joining the Wings. If he does eventually sign, then I'll embrace it because I love the Wings that much; but I'm completely over the whole idea at this point. The Wild and Sharks made contact with him today and now he's entertaining the idea of going to either team and will be visiting with them? Actually reading in print that his presence would essentially result in Abdelkader spending another year in Grand Rapids sort of cements the fact that I'd rather have a 3rd line of Hudler / Abdelkader / Cleary than one with Modano at center.

I think you might be. To call him solid is an overstatement, for sure. My gripes started initially with his giveaways, namely a costly one in 2007. The more I paid attention to him, the more I noticed his lack of.. everything. Fast, true, but that doesn't earn you a roster spot when it's your only upside.

Pierre LeBrun is reporting it to be $2.90M over 2 years. $1.45 M/year.

Well I stand corrected, then. I was under the impression that the 1st movie was shot entirely in Dallas.

Darren Arinofsky (Requiem for a Dream, Pi, The Fountain) was actually supposed to shoot a reboot of the Robocop franchise within the past year or so. Too bad he didn't, and none of the Robocop movies were shot in Detroit. The new Scream movie is being shot in Grand Rapids, maybe Willa can commute. Either way, sucks that this is all hearsay.

Hopefully Johnny Damon inspired Modano. Aging veterans can succeed in Detroit!

That's actually what I was looking at earlier. I think I might try Filp and Huds on the 2nd line, though and make a third line of Cleary / Modano / Bertuzzi.

I was thinking about that last night. He may also go the route of 88, given that was his draft year. I also thought he might pull 89 as adding a number to the front is always an option and numbers in the 80's are more typical of forwards than some of the other options.
