I didn't really have any issue with the announcers. I spent a lot of time talking over them, but until the Sharks exploded for those 12,000 goals - they were all over the Red Wings. I didn't think they were bad. I totally agree with the ads Versus displays over top of the game play, that's what time outs and stops in game play are for.

There was a thread with some post game thoughts in it, but it's gone now.. So I guess I'll post it here. The Wings looked really good off the puck-drop and battled for a few minutes - then the wheels came off. It was pretty obvious how sluggish they were, but they got really rattled really quick and it looked like the game was going to get really out-of-hand come goal number 3. Obviously, we all know they were able to battle back. Without sounding like an ass, I rarely complain about the refs - because I generally hate hearing people complain about the refs - but that was horrible. The worst thing the refs can do, in my opinion, is take over the game.. which they did. Obviously we took some stupid calls, but the Franzen tripping call was the worst one I've seen all year. I hope they iron these things out before we take the ice on Sunday. All in all, we can't expect to spot this Sharks team 3 goals and still win. We played well from then on out, but never got settled. Even the announcers mentioned how it was an odd game. For two puck possession teams, there wasn't an enormous amount of possessing going on. That's fine, though. 1 game out of the way, now we've got to try to get the split on Sunday.

That's exactly what I was going to post. Also, Sharks / Caps almost got me to laugh out loud here at work.

I look at like Ovechkin is the more talented player overall. If we're talking player stats in NHL 10, I'm guessing Ovie has a higher rating. I think Crosby is the better teammate, though. You can argue back and forth about the talent that surrounds them, but I don't think you can really argue the fact that Crosby plays the better all around game at this point - and makes his team better. Ovechkin's problem is that he is the team and their game plan is simply - score goals. I feel like a Capitals game just sort of plays out like a shooting gallery. Shoot often and don't let up, something will go in.

The Hawks were the up-and-comers last year, though. The Canucks should have a much better idea of what they're in for this time around. As long as Luongo doesn't s*** the bed, they could take them.

Here's something I can't help but wondering from time to time.. What if sports were like pro-wrestling? What if, as the game wore down and the Canadiens started celebrating - Mike Green tore off his Capitals jersey and had a Habs sweater on underneath?

When sports are your job, you need to show some professionalism. I'm sick of the, "I'm just a winner" arguments or "I hate losing" that some of these youngsters use an excuse. I felt the same way after LeBron ran off the court when the Cavs lost last year. Of course you're upset, of course you're down - but you have to at least try to battle through it. I'm not saying I expect the guy to go on a long, eloquent monologue about what just happened; but you've got to offer something. You owe it to the media and fans that make your paychecks what they are.

I've found that the Hot N Ready's are generally hit or miss wherever you go - which makes sense. To me though - when it misses, it doesn't miss that bad and when it's on, it's ON.
