Good for the Griffins. I'm looking forward to seeing May with the team.

I fail to see how Kopecky banging home 1 goal is really forcing anyone to eat crow. He had a pretty good game, yeah, but it's not like he proved anyone wrong. He still sucks and I've definitely read a number of Chicagoan (Chicagian, San Diegon?) complaints about the fact that the team signed him at all. Either way, good game for Kopecky and his countrymen. Bad game by the Swedes.
-
Too not Swedish. Doesn't work for those of us under NBC's control.
-
This. Still a s***ty hit, though.

The only team I'd want to see hoist the Cup aside from the Wings are the 'Hawks, due largely to Hossa. I hope he gets a Cup win.

In a [somewhat] related statement, Stephan Robidas might just be the toughest kid on skates at the moment. Nice to hear some praise from another organization. Maybe we're not all crazy!

Sgt Pepper has been in my head ever since I initially read the thread's title.

Browsing Bob McKenzie's Twitter, I happened across a tweet where he referenced Cam Janssen's late hit on Matt Bradley as well as James Neal's hit on Peter Prucha. According to McKenzie, "Cam Janssen will face NHL discipline for late hit on Matt Bradley. James Neal NOT expected to be disciplined for hit on Petr Prucha." Here are the hits: Cam Janssen on Matt Bradley [1:21] James Neal on Peter Prucha [0:10] Everyone's favorite, Puck Daddy discussed the hits as well, but there are also photos. So let's get some discussion flowing. What else are we gonna do with our time off? Janssen's actually looks clean, outside of the fact that it's way late. Hard to tell from the angle, but it looks to me like Neal got his elbow up. Not sure how, exactly, Janssen gets the fine but Neal doesn't.

Are the names on their backs taped on, or what?
-
When I stated that Neal got his elbow up, I didn't mean up and out. You can still hit someone who's vulnerable with your elbow even if it's pulled in to your body. Janssen's hit still looks like it's got a lot more shoulder in it. Either way, there is still a question of vulnerability when it pertains to hits. Especially when it comes to leveling the ruling across the NHL. It's been stated multiple times on this board that there is no league-wide ruling on things like this. If you're trying to establish a precedent on hits delivered to a vulnerable player, then where can we draw a solid line? edited with more substance.

From the replays, it doesn't look as though Janssen's elbow comes up until after the hit. Just a follow through. No denying that it was beyond late, but I don't think he got the elbow up. I checked the Neal hit again (replay at 0:48), I had thought he pulled his elbow up as he went into it - but it doesn't look like it. It's obvious that he runs Prucha's head into the glass, though. Maybe the argument there is that Prucha's head was down.

I love the Wings, but their loses really don't affect my day. I'll gripe for a few, but there are a million more important things in life than sport.

I think my stance goes without saying.

I actually just wanted to post just to argue with myself:

Haha, my plan is foooiiiillleeedd!

That's because we're all wrong and/or stupid.

Filppula is a fantastic player, in my opinion. Just more of that grass-is-always-greener mentality that says he isn't.
-
Let's say it is Eaves, since we've heard little to nothing about him since word that he'd be out until after the Olympics. One thing that we're overlooking is that Lebda is still, in all likelihood, on his way out.
-
Osgood to Vancouver for Roberto Luongo and a 2nd rounder. Meech for Dave Bolland, Dion Phanuef (Leafs get Vancouver's pick), and the rights to Darren Pang. Waive Lebda, May, and Van Zant.
-
Anyone who loves Avery is most certainly weird.

Nabokov stole the game last night - focus on the positives

I came in here to do that. I have been defeated. -
As was stated in the other thread (which is starting to overlap this one) - Kronwall is the likely candidate.

I really hope not, but who else could it even be? That sucks.
