I'm still amazed that people are surprised by Hasek's play this season. But for an injury last year he was playing this good in Ottawa until the Olympics - which is why I was so pleased when we signed him in the summer
-
Good win tonight guys - despite the best attempts of the refs to let Anaheim do whatever they wanted out there!!
-
I'm cheering for ABC - anyone but Canada
-
Good game this and well worth staying up late for

I lived in Manchester for 9 years, it is true. All true Mancunians follow City and it is retards from London, China & Ireland that follow United I watched that game live and Rangers were excellent. Rangers will definitely win the SPL next season with Walter Smith in charge. The imrpovement in Rangers since he took over from Le Guen has been amazing. Next year will expose Strachan as the poor manager that he is - Rangers have been pathetic for most of his time at Celtic and that has made him look like he has done a decent job.

Canada beat Switzerland 5-1 and will play Sweden in the semi's. Am annoyed that I can't see any of these games, not even allowed to watch the highlights from the TSN website

These are the current odds for The Stanley Cup: Buffalo 12/5 Anaheim 5/2 Ottawa 5/2 Detroit 3/1 So not a lot in it really. For the individual series' its: Buffalo 8/11 Ottawa 1/1 Detroit 8/11 Anaheim 1/1

Around The Horn picked the Wings to win the Stanley Cup yesterday -
Happy birthday Steve, lets hope you have plenty more to celebrate in the coming weeks
-
I really wish we had Sergei on the team right now, how great would it be to be able to have him drop back to the blueline and fill in for our injured guys there
-
I haven't doubted since during the regular season that we could win the Stanley Cup, and nothing yet has changed my mind GO WINGS!!!!!!!!
-
Howe, Yzerman voted 4th and 6th best NHL players ever

Another 3am start here in Britain for game 6 tonight/tomorrow() But I will be there with the coffee on, hopefully waking the neighbours up with my celebration screams
-
Thanks Red Wings for a great birthday present Woke up at 0630 here in London to get up for work fearing the worst then saw the score on TSN website!!!!!!!!! Given the slow repsonse of the TSN & ESPN websites I think I only just missed the winning goal!!!!!! Much better than the birthday 3 years ago when I woke up to find out we lost game 6 in Calgary GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Non-Michigan fans: How did you become a Wings fan?
LondonWing replied to Chaldean's topic in General
3am start for game three tonight here in London, guess that means a 4am start for those on mainland Europe -
One of the things that makes Don Cherry's anti-Euro rants so funny is that he is married to a lady from Ukraine
-
In Europe every game is a late night game - well, almost!! Todays game was at 6pm here so I had the pleasure of watching the Wings win in a Canadian bar in London surrounded by Flames fans Getting ready for Pens n Sens now, gonna be a good one

My father grew up in Kalamazoo and has been a Red Wings fan from the 1950's and his hero was Gordie Howe and I basically inherited it from him. Living in Britain it wasn't easy to follow the NHL until the last decade or so through satellite TV & the internet so was really only the mid 90's that I became a Red Wings fan, although I really started to get into hockey in the early 90's thanks to the EA Sports hockey games!! Still have family in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo & Detroit so try to get to games whenever I'm over on holiday. If you are ever over in London and see someone wearing a Red Wings jersey there is a fair chance that it is me -
To me Franzen always looks like more than 6-2 out there on the ice - he seems to tower over everyone
-
London would be good(for me, but not really likely to happen), we are already getting two NHL regular season games in September
-
Surely Gordie Howe should be on the list, he was still playing in the 1980's
-
He's not so much washed up but was never ever very good anyway. The ultimate hype over substance sports star. He is a one trick pony and that is taking free kicks. Other than that he offers nothing to a club other than merchandise sales - which is the main reason Real Madrid signed him. Most people here in England have been wanting him dropped from the England team for a very long time. Beckham and his wife must surely go into the Guinness book of records for the highest amount of money earned compared to talent ratio

Soccer is not the only sport in the orld with a world cup, it's just that soccer is far and away the biggest sport on the planet so everyone knows about it. As you mentioned hockey has many international competitions as do basketball and now baseball. There are other sports around the world that have world cups but will recieve litle or no coverage in the USA. Next year the West Indies will host the Cricket world cup, and just this past month the qualifying rounds for the 2008 Rugby League world cup in Australia began. Tennis has the Davis Cup, golf has the Ryder Cup and other international events. Name a sport and it likely has some kind of international competition.

I would love to watch it if it was shown here in Britain, so far only seen a few little bits during TSN's NHL:On The Fly which we get to see here.
