The difference between the Favre & Yzerman situations is that the Red Wings can reduce Yzermans ice time to reflect his diminishing performance from what he was and still allow him to be effective in a reduced role. With Favre as a QB it's either he plays all game or he's benched, much harder situation.

Iowa and Michigan were definitely screwed by the officials I also think Notre Dame got shafted tonight in the Fiesta Bowl. They should've had a TD after the fumble recovery to make it 21-20 and have the momentum swing their way, instead it was a bad call to rule it an incomplete pass as the OSU guy took a couple of steps before the fumble. OSU then kicks a FG to make it 24-13 rather than 21-20, a huge call that was blown.

If the Lakers had played with passion and as a team they would have whipped the Pistons even with the injuries in 2004. If the Lakers hadn't been hit by injuries in the 2003 playoffs they'd have now won five in a row and I highly doubt the team would have broken up like it did. If only 'if' counted for anything

Of course Notre Dame can upset USC, it's just a matter of will they? They will need to fire on offense from the start and try to keep USC off the ball for as long as possible. Two weeks preparation for ND could be crucial, and I don't think the USC defensive co-ordinator will relish facing a Charlie Weis offense that's had two weeks to prepare for them! It should be a good game, but if my life depended on it I'd be backing USC

Indeed a great win by TCU Solid win from Michigan by the looks of it. We got the Notre Dame v Pittsburgh game live here in Britain, was very impressed with the Irish. The offense looked awesome, as you'd expect with Charlie Wies in charge. Sets it up nicely for next weeks Michigan-Notre Dame clash

I think the Big Ten is gonna be awesome this year with Michigan, Ohio State & Iowa all looking like national championship contenders. I think Penn State need to convince Joe Paterno to retire before his legacy gets further tainted. Will be interesting to see how Notre Dame goes under Charlie Weis this year.
