Just out of curiosity.... If an ex-boyfriend of your wife/girlfriend called your woman "sloppy seconds", would YOU be offended? Would your kids be offended that someone had called their mother "sloppy seconds"? Would her father be offended? How 'bout if an ex-boyfriend called your DAUGHTER "sloppy seconds"? How 'bout if the ex-boyfriend specifically brought the media, camera in tow, into the picture, and called your wife/girlfriend/daughter "sloppy seconds" on national television, for no other purpose than to be a scumbag? You still think that "she" would be the only one who'd be offended?

Unbelievable. I don't mean to single you out, but your post in particular tweaked something.... Please READ what you are writing. Please. Every player you've mentioned above is either a scumbag, a drug addict, a CRIMINAL, or a combination of "all of the above"! Honestly! Do you REALLY want the NHL to attract more "fans" with a marketing campaign of: "The New NHL! Tune in.....Our stars are just as scummy as THEIRS are, now!" Puhlease! Keep those fans, AND those types of athletes, FAR away from the NHL.

^^^What he/she said. Besides... Doesn't matter what anyone here thinks. Only matters what those within the OrganIzation think. And if anyone, ANYone, within the OrganIzation felt similarly to the way you feel..... Conklin would never have been signed this off-season. Nor would Larsson have been. Not to mention the fact that the Wings probably wouldn't have drafted McCollum in the first round.

Hopefully they build on this.

Jebus..... The Duckies announcers have summed it up perfectly: "Of the 36 shots on goal.......very few quality chances....mostly throw away shots......throwing everything AT Giguere, hoping he makes a mistake....." This is going to end badly.....

They're no more controlling this game than if they were firing pucks into the wall in the visitors lockerroom. And they're no less likely to score from there, either. Frustrating....

Shots are just being thrown at the net. I think I've seen two quality shots on Giguere. They are NOT going to score on him by throwing the puck into his chest, with a clear line of sight, from just inside the blue-line.

The Duckies announcers are gleefully announcing how Detroit is pointlessly throwing the puck toward the front of the Anaheim crease with "no plan other than to record a shot on goal."

I'm not sure what everyone else is watching..... I thought the Wings looked more "desperate" and "panicky" than anything. Perhaps I'll switch to the Detroit feed...... The Anaheim announcers are in shock that the Wings look so bad. They can't get over how sloppy the Wings are playing, and how often they're turning the puck over.

Crap goal for Oz to give up. Hope he pulls his head out of his arse soon. That was inexcusable. Despite the shot totals, the Wings look like s***e. Passes aren't connecting. They look like they're playing hot potato out there - No real plan, just throw it from Player to Player and hope something works. Gripping their sticls too tight. They're turning the puck over like they don't want it. Just throwing it away. The shots they're taking are low quality. Again....throw it at Giguere and hope it goes in. They're losing every single battle. Giguere is popping out rebounds like a Pez dispenser. The Wings haven't gotten to a single one of them. Their puck retrieval is for caca. Looks like they're skating in oatmeal. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy. What have these imposters done with the defending Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings?

LOL..... Geoff always seemed to bring his "A" game against Oz, probably for that very reason. For everyone in mild panic mode.... Relax. Oz will be fine. While he hasn't been spectacular, he hasn't been nearly as bad as the stats make him look.

Listen to/read Babcock's comments recently. He IS having "that chat" with Oz. Whether or not it's being said behind lockerroom doors, it's being said. You just have to read between the lines. In response to rotating the two goalies? Babs stated that he wanted Oz getting 2 of 3 games to open the Season in order to "Get your Starter going", then he'd consider rotating them. He then stated that Oz would get more of the workload later in the Season, because that's when you "Go back to your Starter", getting him ready for the Post Season. Even immediately after that long bomb scored by Tyutin, Babcock's response was little more than how impressive it was for Oz to have posted his 372nd Career Victory, and how a goaltender really had to be "top notch" in order to achieve that. He even went so far as to poo-poo the long bomb, stating that Oz would be fine, and that he "wouldn't worry too much" about Chris Osgood. I was encouraged by Ozzie's reaction after the Columbus game. He was frustrated and upset with himself. He knows he needs to play better. I agree, though.... He needs more than every other game to get it going. He needs a few consecutive Starts.

Not quite 10 years. I can tell you the exact date Osgood last let in a center ice goal.... March 8, 2002, against...... The Columbus Blue Jackets, scored by Geoff Sanderson. Was the turning point in a personal slump he was in the midst of. He let in 3 goals on 6 shots in the first period. Rather than pull him, (as he'd been doing), Laviolette left him in there. He had a chat with him between periods 1 and 2. Oz didin't allow another goal that game. (4th goal was an EN). During the flight home, Lavi pulled Oz aside and told him that he was going to have to get his game in gear, because he was "our guy", and there was no need to look over his shoulder. He did. He was lights out from that point on.

Are you honestly sitting at your computer, typing your (apparently) expert opinion, regarding what it takes "to be a goalie", and attempting to apply THAT opinion to the obviously lacking career of an NHL goaltender, who is rapidly approaching 400 Career Victories, and has his name engraved on the Stanley Cup not once, not twice, but THRICE? You're right, Anomalously. On all counts. Many thought it was insanity to take a chance on the career back-up, when there was a Cup winning Starter on the bench. They were shouted down by those who pointed out that the career back-up was posting "much better" regular season stats than the Cup winning Starter, using this as justification for staying with the career back-up as the #1, and backing it up with "Babcock obviously agrees with me." Worked out well during the regular season, (as we all knew it would). Not so much so in the Post-Season, however.

As "badly" as the stats make it appear that Osgood is playing, he's playing WORLDS better than Dom was playing to begin last Season. Not to mention the fact that the Defense was solid during Hasek's "slump" last year, whereas the Defense has been downright awful in most games this year. Big difference.

And if your grandmother had testicles, she could be your grandpa. <shakes head>

Of course they are. Brent Johnson is a back-up goaltender who's been masquerading as a starter. He's coming back down to earth where he belongs.

From your keyboard straight to the ears of the Hockey Gods...... As an aside, Oz sounds good and pi$$ed in this write up From MLive. He looked nasty mean against New Jersey last week, and I thought he had a fantastic game. He looked good against Vancouver, too. The Wings didn't play particularly well defensively in either of those games, but Oz stood tall for them. He stole the NJ Game outright. Unfortunately, all it takes is that CRAP game against the Pittsburgh Crysby's and that third (kicked in) goal by Pettinger (Prospal) to make folks forget about those games. That's the nature of the beast. Hopefully he IS good and pi$$ed. He always plays better when he's got a chip on his shoulder. Oh, and congrats to the Conklins!

Hopefully this will light a fire under Ozzie's arse. He hasn't been playing as badly as his stats indicate, but he can definitely be better. Much better.

"To compensate" my arse... If the team was playing as well as they're capable of playing, neither goalie would be lugging those numbers around.

Welcome (back) to the 2008 Stanley Cup Finals. And as long as the Wings players keep talking to the Press about how "the Team that's ahead gets all the bad calls against them, because the League wants to even it up and/or wants higher scoring games", it will CONTINUE to happen. Whether it's true, or not....(and I believe there's more than a grain of truth to it).... Keep your head down, keep your feet moving, keep your mouth SHUT. The very LAST thing Gary Bettman wants to see is Detroit with a chance in Hell to repeat. The Wings are good enough to win despite the bad calls, they proved it during last years SCF. They just have to quit allowing the calls against them to throw them off their Game.
