I certainly hope so. The Pittsburgh papers are disgustingly smug tonight, one going so far as to actually suggest that Sidney Crosby almost single-handedly saved the entire NHL tonight. I've seen some over the top BS before, but that is downright vomit worthy.
-
With all due respect, I don't buy that. While the first two came off of turnovers, I still think he should have had BOTH. Had he had his stick on the ice on the first, it never goes five-hole on him. It surprised him. It shouldn't have. He put a TERRIBLE rebound right on Crosby's stick on the second goal. The third, he was dinkering around behind the net when he should have been focused and tight. Hopefully it was nothing more than a case where Oz had Fruity Pebbles and sponge baths on his mind, and he'll shake it off before the next Game.

Haven't read through the entire thread yet, but I'm surprised no one has mentioned goaltending. Oz was mediocre, at best, in this Game. He should have had the first goal, gave up a TERRIBLE rebound on the second goal, and should never have put himself in the position for the third goal to go in off his arse. Hopefully he'll came back LIGHTS OUT for Games 4 and 5.

Will the Pens' whining help them get the calls tonight?
Outsider replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
I would say that based upon Babcock's pre-Game Press Conference comments today regarding the matter, that the League has not taken kindly to Therrien's whining, and have advised him of that fact in their meeting this afternoon. Anyway.... Go, Wings, GO!!!! -
Go, Wings, GO!!!!

They did. That's why they wanted Vernie to take less money. Article also lists a 7th place finish for the Isles in 2002. Wrong. They finished 5th, one point out of the Atlantic Division lead, and a 3rd place berth.

The campaign begins in earnest..... Go, Wings, GO!!!!

You can say that Gerber was good if you'd like. I'll respectfully disagree. He showed a knack for stopping plenty of shots, even making some "great" saves, and then letting in that back-breaking crap goal, time after time. Most of the goals that went in on him were just ugly.

Haven't read through the entire thread, yet, but a few points..... Sens were without Alfie, Spezza was playing through major injuries, and Gerber was just, well.....let's just say that he wasn't very good. Rangers were the fourth lowest scoring Team in the East, and the sixth lowest scoring Team in the entire League. Philly was without Kimmo Timonen, and weren't that good to begin with. Go, Wings, GO!!!!

Noticed that myself. Trying not to think about it.....

Oh.... And the fact that all of the photos in the Free Press of the Wings practicing on Friday were captioned "Wings prepare for Game six" probably threw a monkey wrench into the Karma machine, too. Hopefully the Freep will get that hammered out and stop jinxing the boys....

Detroit has looked awful the past two games. No intensity. They look like they're skating in slush. And they're more or less flipping the puck around the ice, rather than passing it. I've got a bad feeling about this Series. I'm not liking their chances going back to Dallas only up by a Game, and with ALL of the momentum and confidence in the wrong lockerroom.

Yeah! And while we're at it, we could get all those dirty, sweaty GUYS off of the ice! Hey....we could get rid of the ICE, too! Use the space being taken up by these silly NHL arenas for more shopping malls and parking lots! Let's just take everything 'human' out of the game altogether. We could simulate everything, and broadcast the SimGames over the internet, or on HD Pay-Per-View! And HEY!....wouldn't that be a GREAT way for fans to have a REAL impact on the 'games'? Hold some sort of contest and let the winning fan from each SimTeam actually take the VirtualIce along with his SimTeammates. No more human errors, then. No sir! Also...... No more blood. No more sweat. No more missing teeth. No more shouts of jubilation. No more groans of disappointment. No more cursing. No more tears of agony as the Cup slips through your fingers in the dying seconds of the closing Game of the Finals. No more tears of pure joy as you raise 35 lbs worth of your lifelong dream over your head in Victory. Of course......we won't need the actual Cup anymore, either. It could be melted down and put to a much more practical use. Definitely much "cleaner", much more "precise" this way.

In his post-game interview last night, Mike Modano looked outright embarassed over Ribiero's behaviour. In reading his off-day interview today, nothing much seems to have changed. He further expresses the opinion that the very WORST thing the Stars could possibly do would be to attempt to "drag" the Wings into a "street fight". Modano's a smart guy....

C'mon, people. Anyone who's watched Oz play throughout his career has seen him "accidentally" butt-end players skating by just like that countless times. As a matter of fact, I'd almost call that a signature Chris Osgood move. That little clip under the chin followed by the "What? Me? Did I do that?" look. Puhlease. He turned in a couple of BEAUTIES against ToROTno in the '02 Play Offs. As for the slash? Oz is a big boy. AND he sold the HELL outta that. He's fine. And now he's feeling even feistier than ever before. All good things.

Sort of "No, I would NOT like to see the Kid's Menu, thank you very much." Honestly, he looks like he's about 12 years old in that photo. I'm rather jealous.

Alright, folks.....lay off the Wizard. He can TOO grow facial hair. Just takes a couple months, that's all.
-
Scumbag Team, Scumbag GM. Perfect fit. <shrug>

Where do you folks come up with this stuff? Honestly..... From his own mouth: "You know, my home state would be a nice opportunity but honestly, Buffalo's been great to me," Miller said. "I have a lot of fun here. We have a young core of guys. As far as I know, you guys got Hasek and (Chris) Osgood. I'm settled here and happy here. I'd like to stay. I'd like the opportunity to keep building here. Who knows how hockey careers go?"
-
And I predict that if it were Hasek in nets, 46 of the 47 would have been started by YOU.

Ya know....I was gonna respond to this, but..... I think Ozzie took care of it for me. And rather eloquently, at that. 'Nuff said. **Edit: Looks like Babs threw in his $0.02, too.

Yeah.....I know. I suck at Sudoku, too. What can I say? Put me on "Ignore".

<ahem> "We"? Who is this "we" you speak of? Looking around, you appear to be flying mostly solo.
