    Avery comments & suspension

This isn't big deal at all... I think that they should let him play that game vs. Calgary and let Phaneuf or Iginla take charge of Avery. That would be the best ''punishment''...

    Gaborik to L.A.

http://thefourthperiod.com/news/lak081102.html Kings, Wild still talking trade for Gaborik TheFourthPeriod.com The Los Angeles Kings and Minnesota Wild continue to discuss a trade involving star winger Marian Gaborik. According to various reports, the two teams have been negotiating for a few weeks. While talks are ongoing, nothing appears to be imminent. The Edmonton Journal claims Gaborik enjoys the west coast lifestyle and the Kings could package former Wild Patrick O'Sullivan and Alexander Frolov. With roughly $11 million in available cap space, the Kings can afford to add Gaborik and his projected new salary of more than $8.5 million per year. Kings GM Dean Lombardi has set an internal budget, but sources say the team is willing to make the necessary adjustments in order to acquire a player of Gaborik's status. The Kings, along with a number of other teams interested in the 26-year-old star, want the opportunity to speak with Gaborik's agent, Ron Salcer, before agreeing to any deal. The Vancouver Canucks, Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Islanders and Oilers have all expressed an interest in Gaborik. From the Editor: Calls are coming in from a number of different teams, but that doesn't mean a trade is around the corner. The Kings are interested, but whether they'll be allowed to talk to Gaborik's agent is another story. First, the two sides need to get close to terms on a trade, then worry about talking to Ron Salcer. We're still in the pretty early stages of this entire saga. -- David Pagnotta

Pick 1 of the 3 for next year:

I would keep Hudler (and I'm not his fan at all)... So far, he's consistently been scoring points. Flip is way overpaid right now... I would trade him and let Sammy walk. Brink Helm and Leino next year to replace Flip and Sammy...

    Official I Love Conklin Thread

How many games in row Conklin started - and why? Osgood is healthy... That's why in this moment he's our number 1 goalie... Osgood lovers will start bashing Conklin - same thing that they have done with Hasek last couple of years.

Detroit MIGHT be interested in Lehtonen

OTTAWA SUN: Bruce Garrioch reports the following: - "Many NHL observers think Atlanta GM Don Waddell wants to deal one of his surplus goaltenders in an attempt to kickstart his floundering team." Garrioch suggests Kari Lehtonen could be shopped, with the Senators, Kings, Oilers, Red Wings and Flyers as the teams which could make inquiries. SPECTOR'S NOTE: With his club having reeled off three straight victories this past week and currently still well within striking distance of a playoff berth, and their first line of Slava Kozlov, Todd White and Bryan Little leading them offensively,I doubt Waddell is planning to do any "kickstarting" just yet. True, at some point they'll have to make decision on one of their goalies but I suspect Waddell isn't in any hurry to do so at this time. http://spectorshockey.net/index.php?option...8&Itemid=55

where, oh where has our defense gone?

Again - scoring 5 - 5 is problem, Detroit allowed 6 goals last night and score 3. It wasn't Osgood fault but he could made an extra save. I'm still waiting on him to steal a game this season... Chelios needs to get back ASAP.

    Latest on Zetterberg talks

ESPN.COM: Pierre Lebrun reports contract talks between Henrik Zetterberg and the Detroit Red Wings are heating up. Zetterberg could command between $9 -$10 million per season but Lebrun believes he'll have to accept less to stay in Detroit, suggesting $7-$8 million per is the sweet spot. SPECTOR'S NOTE: I agree with Lebrun, who also suggests Zetterberg will have to decide if he's willing to accept less than market value to stay with the Wings. I believe he will but it'll likely cost the Wings upwards of $8 million per to do it. http://spectorshockey.net/index.php?option...8&Itemid=55
