With all skills that we have we are brutal on 5 on 5. Please don't compare Detroit with Islanders...
-
Problem is 5 on 5. 5 ON 5 GOALS FOR/AGAINST RATIO IS 1.04 Detroit is dangerous on PP with all talent and skills but scoring 5 on 5 is BRUTAL.

This is HUG FEST not a fight

Blackhawks, Shanahan talking TheFourthPeriod.com The Chicago Blackhawks have contacted unrestricted free agent Brendan Shanahan and his agent Rick Curran about the possibility of joining their team, TFP has learned. Shanahan, 39, has received interest from a number of teams, but would prefer to remain close to the Northeast. According to sources, Shanahan and Curran are done speaking with teams and will spend the rest of the week determining which organizations offer the best situation. Blackhawks senior advisor Scotty Bowman has spoken to Shanahan about what Chicago has to offer, while Hawks GM Dale Tallon has contacted Curran. No offers have been exchanged, although Shanahan is expected to receive a one-year contract worth in between $1.5 million to $2.5 million. The St. Louis Blues, Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins are among the clubs pursuing Shanahan. Sources tell TFP, however, that Shanahan is not interested in signing with the Blues. Once Shanahan has determined which team he would like to join, the two sides are then expected to iron out the details on a contract. Meanwhile, it was reported earlier today that Tallon would contact the New Jersey Devils to check their interest levels in Nikolai Khabibulin now that Martin Brodeur will miss three to four months with an injury. Tallon denied to report, saying that he is not actively shopping Khabibulin. He did, however, admit that he's more than willing to entertain calls for the veteran goaltender. From the Editor: The Blackhawks are very interested in bringing in a leader like Shanahan, and he's apparently interested in the prospect of playing in Chicago. The problem he's faced with is that his family will remain in New York during the season and he wants to play close to home. However, with many teams close to the cap, Chicago might be his best option. The Hawks would need to clear a little bit of space, but that isn't expected to be a major concern. A decision would be made in the coming days. Meanwhile, as far as Khabibulin's concerned, the Hawks like their goaltending situation and Tallon's in no rush to make a trade. Keeping Khabibulin, however, might take them out of the Mats Sundin sweepstakes... unless Sundin tells Chicago he wants to sign with them and then the Hawks will need to push a move.

I agree with you - why would Holland give that kind of money for Laraque when you can go cheaper with McGratten, MacIntyre or even Andre Roy. Go after legit heavyweight and dress him when you need him. What we need is players like Neil, Clowe, Moen, Mayers, Voros... thay can play 5-5 (again problem with scoring 5-5), on PK... They can drop the gloves when needed, skate, hit and maybe score sometimes...
-
We could drafted Lučić - Detroit passed on him twice... They drafted Matthias and Emmerton and we really needed big player like Milan Lučić. I can't see Boston trading him anyway...
-
Wrong - He wrote on www.RDS.ca couple of years ago that he would never play in Montreal because of media. He went to Montreal and the main reason is money.
-
Lebs has been outstanding for us for three years. :rotflmao:

Sorry but McCarty isn't better skater than Downey, McCarty isn't going to score more than Downey, McCarty isn't physical and he can't fight. Downey at least is better fighter. IMO McCarty is useless...
-
Seems like they might try to trade Kunitz and Marchant...
-
After Brown's fight - McCarty should retire!

X 2

That's what we are saying. Look at Montreal, they have Laraque in lineup when they are playing physical teams. BTW don't remember who said on this forum that we are tougher than Habs...
-
Even Uwe Krupp is better than Lebda!!!
-
Can we send Boyd Deveraux for McGrattan?! I would love to have Neil and Erskine. Holmstrom - Datsyuk - Hossa Franzen - Zetterberg - Hudler (Leino) Neil - Filppula - Cleary Abdelkader - Draper - Downey (Carcillo) Lidstrom - Rafalski Stuart - Kronwall Lilja - Erskine (Chelios)
-
Lilja is fine - I don't think we should trade/scratch him
-
Downey isn’t the answer but it’s the best we have. This is sad but true. He isn’t the best fighter but is better fighter (today) than McCarty who is useless (he can’t fight, hit, skate…)
-
C'mon who needs those Euro's - trading for Lučić... Way too tough for this organisation. I'm glad that we drafted Emmerton and Matthias instead...
-
We dont need physical players... We need Katarina Witt and Elvis Stojko!!!
