For Lilja - Holland wasn't going to sign him for 2 more years and then trade him... That would send a wrong message to all future FA's (around NHL). That's not a way to do it and Holland knows that. Helm and Leino - Why would you put those guys on the 4th line? Let them play BIG minutes in GR!!! Red Wings already have 3 scoring lines... they need energy 4th line...

Wings have enough skill that a fourth line checker/fighter is the not the difference maker. They are going to split Dats and Zetterberg - as far as I remember last season they played 23-24 min average. So, in my mind you can have a energy/hitting 4th line.

Please don't get me wrong - I'm happy that Babs finaly gave chance to Hudler, but I'm just not sure that Babs is Hudler fan... I could see them trading, Sammy and Lebda...

Don't know why - but I have a feeling that we are going to see Leino on the 2nd unit this season (instead of Hudler)... There is no way to keep him on the 4th line. We need energy line like Maltby-Draper-McCart/Downey. I would keep Helm in GR - let him play big minutes there. Sammy on the 3rd line - I have no problem with it.

I think that they are tough enough. As you said, they signed Laraque, Flinn, Shawn Belle... They have also some grinders: Steve Bégin (BIG hitter), Tom Kostopoulos (will drop the golves), Maxim Lapierre (dirty), Def: Francis Bouillon (small but strong), Mike Komisarek (next Scott Stevens), Ryan O'Byrne... I think that Montreal is tougher than Detroit.

Do you really expect Downey or DMac to score some goals???

Every single team in NHL has at least one fighter/enforcer on their active roster - why do you think that we don't need it??? If Lidstrom, Zetterberg and cie. says that they feel better with a player who can drop the gloves and protect star players then what'S the problem??? More people are going to game to see fight than staying away from it...

McCarty isn't going to enforce nobody in today's NHL. C'mon guys you really expect McCarty to be our tough guy???

Great idea - exactly what we need... Lebda + Meech or Quincey (with bonus Sammy) for Neil. I would love to trade Lilja but he just signed for 2 more years.

They have Leclaire and Norena - why would they want Howard? at $2.5M it's crazy... If that's the case Holland should trade for Jaroslav Halak. But I'm not sure about this "rumor"

I don't agree - do you really expect from one of them to score some goals??? We need some protection for our star players and I'm not sure that anyone is afraid of McCarty... I'm not saying that someone is in NHL is afraid of Downey either, but Aaron is stronger when it comes to fightin righ NOW. 10 years ago it was different story... When you have first 3 lines like the Wings have you don't need/expect your 4th line to score - you need grinders with fighting abilities...

Downey was more physical in one warm-up (during the playoff) than McCarty in all games that he played...

Trade Sammy and you will have place for Leino... What about Ryno, any news on him?

As much as I don't like Burke he's right 100%... but Burke did the same thing with Schneider and Bertuzzi... overpaid
