According to HockeyTradeRumors.com, the Islanders have sent a memo to the other 29 teams asking for offers for Mark Parrish. I know the Coyotes and Wild have been interested, but I expect others to jump into this as well. As a Leaf fan, I'd love to see Parrish in blue and white, but at this point Phoenix and Minnesota are the only two teams I've heard that are seriously interested. The McKee rumours have begun, just like I said they would. Once again, Phoenix is said to be the front-runner, with Toronto, Colorado, Florida and Washington also said to be involved. Apparently Buffalo is trying to package Biron into this deal, which leads me to believe Colorado may win this one, as they still need a backup. http://www.newsday.com/sports/hockey/ny-sp...ockey-headlines

September 4, 2005 Flyers looking at Smyth TheFourthPeriod.com The Flyers are looking to lose a center, and according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Michal Handzus appears to be the odd man out. Handzus, who is set to earn $2.1 million this year and next, could be on his way to Edmonton for winger Ryan Smyth, claims the paper. Flyers GM Bob Clarke has long coveted Smyth, who has yet to sign his one-year qualifying offer of $2.7 million. The veteran winger is apparently looking for a three-year contract worth around $12 million. http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/phi050904.html

04 SEPTEMBER 2005. FLYERS INTERESTED IN SMYTH? PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER: Tim Panaccio reports the Flyers want to lose a center and gain a winger, and Michal Handzus could become trade bait to accomplish this. Panaccio suggests a Handzus for Ryan Smyth trade would make sense. Smyth is seeking a three year deal (believed to be worth $4 million per season) which may not fit under the Oilers payroll, while Handzus's $2.1 million contract would fit, plus provide the depth the Oilers need at center. Panaccio believes it would take more than Handzus to tempt the Oilers to move Smyth "but not that much more". Spector's Note: There's been speculation for some time now that the Flyers are trying to land Smyth by using Handzus as trade bait. Smyth has already agreed to a one-year deal with the Oilers, meaning they're in no rush to move him at this time. That being said, Smyth's trade status should be the subject of rumour for some time. http://spectorshockey.tripod.com/spectors_...de_rumours.html

If you want to trade with Islanders, you MUST pick-up Hunter. If you want to trade with Penguins, you MUST pick-up Malone.

Montreal will try to trade Koivu + Theodore for Luongo this week. They are getting Richards tomorrow so Koivu is on trade block...

Edmonton Swinging A Deal? I just recieved an email from a Global News employee in Edmonton that the Edmonton Oilers have a news conference set for tomorrow, where they will announce the aquiring of Colin White and Viktor Kozlov from New Jersey. Jani Rita or Cory Cross is going to New Jersey, but not both. This was not part of the email, but I expect a draft pick of some sort to go to New Jersey as well. This information is not confirmed, but it makes a lot of sense. Stay Tuned... http://hockey-leaks.blogspot.com/ If this happen Edmonton will be GREAT team with GREAT chances to win Stanley Cup...

Trade your (just signed) second best defenseman for a fourth line journeyman? LOL... From economical point of view it could really help us - trading 36 years old Offensive Def. no need to mention that we alredy have the best one in Lidstrom and Kronwall who is going to be force + Delmore who could provide some offensive + we have like 7-8 ''D'' We could use that money on Datsyuk and Zetterberg (I hope that they are more important to this team than 36 yo Schneider...) Yes, I would trade 36 yo who is going to make $6.6M / next 2 years Please consider the logic of timing. If MS were signed a couple years back and his salary was not desirable than sure, shop -- but the organization just spent sick money on legal fees to retain the guy you suggest they trade (and that untradable salary) -- he is not a marquee player like Hossa who you have to sign to trade. Matt was UFA! If your IQ is above Curious George you don't have to figure this out... Sorry if I seem mean, I am not, but anybody who thinks a company will sign a man to a contract, then fire, trade or lay off that same guy who they had no obligation to in the first place is not reading into the big picture -- even if they get a lesser guy at less salary... He'd blow Vancouver's Cap anyway... Crickey... Salary cup = $39M Lidstrom + Schneider = $11M Not because he's signed - that he's great addition... Not because he's signed - that he can't be traded... If we need money to sign Datsyuk and Zetterberg - would you rather trade Schneider or loose one of them??? This offseason = everything is possible...

I would really like to have him... Schneider anyone????

LOL yeah at first I was going to pick a couple out to mention by name but then as I thought about it they all were overpaid (at least those that signed for more than $1-2M/yr). I'd absolutely love to keep him around. Tremendous talent that hasn't fully been tapped yet, but what good is it if we can't surround him with the type of linemates he needs to succeed? peace You are damn right on this one... I know that maybe we have overpaid Schneider (and maybe we didn't needed him as we need Datsyuk) - but I rather give Datsyuk 3.5M - 4M than to Schneider. We have 2 Def for around $11M (with the $39M cap) and Datsyuk is still young with tremendous talent... If you have to pick one player that you have to overpaid - I hope that you will pick up Datsyuk over Schneider... Trent Hunter Ryan Malone Kraft, Morozov, Fehr, Witt and Zubrus... could be nice in Red Wings Jersey if we HAVE to trade Datsyuk... I still hope that we can keep him... We didn't sign: Murray, Kovalev, Palffy, Khabibulin, Thornton or even Lecavalier... either of them as we were supposed to do... so I hope that Holland do this one right and he get Datsyuk signed

Do you think that Schneider is worth $3.3M-season???
