If You Think Hudler's NOT worth $3 Million...
Dominator2005 replied to LeftWinger's topic in General
Can't compare these 2 players, Hudler is getting more PP minutes than Flip and Flip is getting more PK minutes... They are not used the same way... -

With this kind of compensation we could move up in this year's draft and pick KASSIAN -

Holland waiting for 09-10 cap (update on contract offers)

Qualifying offer = you keep right (to match any offer) for RFA, if they are going to sign (and you don't match offer) with another team you are getting compensation (draft picks) If you don't qualify offer, RFA will became UFA... -
Never forget Bertuzzi vs. Chelios battles... EPIC

Still better than Brisebois so I'm gonna say MONTREAL...

Sammy MUST be re-signed = Detroit toughness... (I know this is sarcasm)

If Laraque is getting paid $1.5M WHY NEIL or Lappy can't ask for $2M or $2.5M? $4M or $5M for Beauchemin isn't much if you compare him to Rozival or even Stuart... Someone is going to pay $2M for Bertuzzi... Jay Bouwmeester is worth AT LEAST $6m... Larose should ask for same money as Cleary...

Right - there is desperation - look at Montreal...

Wich players you are talking about?!

George James Malik covers it nicely so check out his sensible take. http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2009/06/ap...reeagent_t.html Appealing grinding free-agent targets for Red Wings may be more expensive than they appear Posted by George James Malik June 21, 2009 05:53AM The Detroit Free Press posted a gallery of ten unrestricted free agent forwards of the third-and-fourth-line variety which the Red Wings may target, especially assuming that the $4 million of cap space the Wings have won't allow them to re-sign Jiri Hudler, Mikael Samuelsson, or Marian Hossa (thus, necessitating a little more grit)... But the problem involving almost every player listed is simple: they've had the kinds of seasons which merit $2-3 million salaries for grinding players in early July. Examples? Sure, let's run down the list. The Free Press makes excellent arguments as to why the Wings may target said players, so here's the "by the numbers" version, with the salaries listed reflecting the players' 2008-2009 earnings: Chad LaRose, Carolina Hurricanes. 27 years old, posted 31 points in 79 games while racking up all of 35 penalty minutes, and earned $750,000. LaRose is the kind of player who could get "Dan Cleary money" ($2.5 million plus) from an interested buyer. Ian Laperriere, Colorado Avalanche. 35, posted 19 points in 74 games (with 163 penalty minutes), earned $1.15 million. Someone may very well toss $2 million at him. Chris Neil, Ottawa Senators. 30, posted 10 points in 70 games for Ottawa (with 146 penalty minutes), earned $1.2 million. Looking for more than $2.5 million. Samuel Pahlsson, Chicago Blackhawks. 31, posted 18 points in 65 games and earned $1.4 million...Okay, this one makes some sense. Pahlsson had an up-and-down season split between Anaheim and Chicago, he's never posted more than 26 points, and somebody might throw $2 million at him, but he's a 3rd-liner. Jay Bouwmeester, Florida Panthers. Not a forward (defenseman), 25, posted 42 points in 82 games, and earned $4.875 million. Even in a flat-capped NHL, someone will toss $6-8 million at him over the course of a long-term deal. Dream on. John Madden, New Jersey Devils. 36, posted 23 points in 76 games, earned $2.938 million, posted 20 goals and 43 points the previous season. See: "Dan Cleary money," short-term contract version. P.J. Axelsson, Boston Bruins. 34, posted 30 points in 75 games, earned $1.85 million. Won't take a pay cut. Francois Beauchemin, Anaheim Ducks. 29, posted 5 points in an injury-shortened 20-game season, earned $1.650 million. Someone will toss $4-5 million at him if the Ducks don't first. Mathieu Dandeneault, Montreal Canadiens. 33, posted 12 points playing both forward and defense in an injury-shortened 21-game season, earned $1.75 million. Won't take a pay cut. Manny Legace, St. Louis Blues. Goaltender, 36. Earned 13 wins in 29 appearances before clearing waivers and heading to the AHL's Peoria RIvermen. Um, no. Todd Bertuzzi, Calgary Flames. 34, posted 44 points in 66 games, earned $1.95 million. Do you want to pay $2 million for Todd Bertuzzi? I've heard names like Atlanta's Colby Armstrong mentioned, and thought about the Wings going after Petr Sykora personally (so I made that one up myself, and don't buy it, he made $2.5 million and posted 46 points in 72 games, so somebody will give him $3-3.5 million for that kind of performance), but...

I agree 100%

We should move up - trade Hudler (rights) and draft KASSIAN -
This is more like Greg Johnson 2.0... I would welcome back Shanahan + sign Moen.

Gauthier would be nice... when you are saying hard hitting - he's hard-hard hitting def... 1. Steve Montador wouldn't be bad either - right hand shot (hard shoot) he can run our 2nd PP unit (bye-bye Sammy), he's gritty def and at $800.00 is BETTER option than Lebda or Meech. 2. Kyle McLaren - if he can get in shape - would be good addition. 3. Kurtis Foster, Walker, Strudwick...
