We're talking about active players, not retired ones. Yes, Yzerman was on sucky teams here in DET for a long time. But he's gone and we've all moved on. We've also all moved on from Feds being gone. And DMac. Just check out the boards, can't you tell??

Interesting topic. I don't think you'll see any "Win it for Bert" slogans, so it was ok we let him go. Another player I could see getting some of that love.... Luongo - he's not old, but he's been through Hell in florida, I feel sorry for the dude. Let's get I'm all about players who've stuck with their sucky teams through thick and thin and then finally go to a winner. While we're at it, let's get Olli Jokinen out of there too. Has anyone ever done more with less? Maybe Ovechkin, but that's all I can think of.

Well, everyone can stop arguing about who wants him and who doesn't. Let's all be friends again and start a thread about "you know who" returning at the trade deadline.
-
I'm praying Avery doesn't sign a last minute deal and makes it to the hearing today. Keep your fingers crossed. Any rumors or updates please post in this thread. I'd much rather sign a guy and have him be part of the team all year than come in at the deadline (barring any injuries of course). So easy to mess up team chemistry.

No doubt. Imagine having a "Dallas Drake" type player that could actually score. If Avery hits the market we're in the driver's seat. No way Holland passes on that.

I love the title to this thread. It may or may not happen. You might as well have a thread that says... J.S. Giguere traded to the Wings!!! (it may or may not happen)

Nobody can replace Lids, nobody. He's the best defenseman in the last 40 years. I pray he plays another 2-3 yrs. He seemed to really enjoy being a captain, maybe that's enough of a challenge that he'll want to do it for a few more.

http://www.nhlnumbers.com/nyr.html According to this, which looks current, the Rangers are now officially over the cap. And that's not even counting Avery. We should do them a favor and take him off their hands. Get on the phone, Kenny.

Wow. I totally agree with you, but where the hell did that come from??
-
This wouldn't be so bad. Hey, at least we don't need to add so much grit now with having Drake around. Resign Markov and we'll have all the tools of a very successful team.

QFT. Mowers is a Stanley Cup machine
-
For the upcoming season, definately Drake. Even if he doesn't score much, he's there to put a hurt on people. We need that more than a 15 goal scorer at this point.
-
AMEN TO THAT!!!! A third scoring line of flip, hudler, and grigs would be awesome. I'm really excited to go with who we've got.

I was a basketball player mostly through high school and college. Picked up ice hockey near the end of college b/c I loved it so much. I'm not great, but I really enjoy playing it. In fact, it's the only sport I play anymore.

If he's hurt, then Kronwall. If not then it'll have to be Sammy. But if Sammy starts scoring again I guess we'll just have to pick someone from another team and rip him. Any suggestions for non-Wings to hate on?

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=211308&hubname=nhl The Sabres are going to be cap constrained this year, why not make him an offer? We need a good winger that can finish and he was 5th in the league this year. That's better than any Wing did. I say offer him 2 mil/yr for 3 yrs. It couldn't hurt. I'm not sure about how many picks or what round they'd be that we'd have to give back in return though. Anyone know that info? If it's a 2nd or 3rd I say go for it.
-
No surprise here, good luck Robert.

Aren't the GM's all trying to make their teams better? This isn't a game where we all hold hands and sing cum bay ya around a campfire. the rule is there, why not use it? If someone signed Flip for 2 mil I'd say go ahead and give us your draft picks. Based on the structure for giving up picks and Vanek's probable price it would be giving up way too much to sign him as an RFA. 3 or 4 first rounders minimum. Yeah, too much.
-
Depending on how the other signings go they may not have the room for him. Probably go to arbitration if that happened, then possibly walk away. Maybe we just wait for that. If Holland and Regier are such good friends then maybe he can just ask him if he wants to keep him if they sink most of their salary into their top UFA's. 3.5 mil/yr maybe?
-
I don't think they'd get rid of him anyways. You've gotta have young stars to sell when they get to Hamilton. He's going to be a really good player. *sigh*
-
I have a man crush on Radulov. Could you imagine a second line with him on one wing, Bert on the other, and Flip centering? It's too bad Nashville won't be going into total firesale mode, I'd pick him up in a heartbeat for at least a first rounder no sweat.
-
this fxing sucks!!!!!! What a bullshzt rule. Let's trade the rights to Lang, maybe we can get a 6th rounder out of it.
-
Hudler's situation right now is a win-win in my book. Either we keep him and have a decent 2nd or 4th line winger or we get something in return. i like him and think he'll do well in the NHL. Just put him with somebody that can give him some space.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=210123&hubname=nhl Looks like if Hasek doesn't come back we could always make a low ball offer to Minnesota for Manny. He'd be alot better than going with just Osgood or bringing in some retread like Belfour.
