If that's true, then this WAS a brilliant deal. Right now I'm not sold on it. When Bert scores his first goal as a wing I'll officially be happy. But why isn't the conditional pick based on whether Bert ACTUALLY PLAYS in the conference finals instead of the Wings just making it?? It could be done completely without him and we'd still owe a first rounder.

It'll be nice to get Guerin traded, then maybe the pins will fall faster. Everyone's waiting for this one move to happen. I think Buffalo is going to get him, probably package their 1st rounder with Philly's second rounder (basically a first rounder again).

Feds? No please. No. I wouldn't care what it took to get Jokinen, this guy is an all-world talent. Playing in florida he's still one of the league's best, he could only help. I bet he's ready to start playing for the cup every year, no place to do that like Detroit!! If we get Jokinen then Dats can go piss on an electric fence, he is SO MUCH better than Dats.

Smart move by the Flyers. I wouldn't be surprised if they had already agreed to a contract extension with Biron before the trade. It'll probably come out in the details later. It's like the ole NBA "sign and trade" action that happens so much. I think it's a great move.

PLEASE get Big George, Kenny. PLEEEEEEASE!!! He is MADE for the playoffs. Remember, he was on EDM's roster last year and was very valuable to them for their run.

With some of the moves that are starting to happen it might be best to wait a bit. It's looking like Dallas WAY overpaid for Nagy. As teams fill their needs that will leave a few guys out there with very few teams left calling. That's how we got Ozzie at such an incredible price as a FA.

Hey, what about Big George? He's on the block now. I'd take him over Bertuzzi, at least he is healthy and would cost less. George plus Guerin/Tkachuk is the formula for playoff success, doesn't matter which one of the Blues we get.

YES!!!! I saw he was available now. If you want grit, why not get the best? Him and Guerin/Tkachuk would be excellent playoff roster additions.

We hit a hot button here. If I'm GM of a crappy team that I know is going to take a few years to rebuild I'd sign about 3 good players as UFA to one year deals. Then ship them all out at the deadline. That would be building for the future on steroids. You'd get twice the picks. Some for your team sucking and then some for trading away your one year players.

I'm just saying this on my own, no rumors, bellowing mooses, or eklunds. With the win tonight the Blues are now only 10 points behind Minnesota for the final playoff spot and they've been playing GREAT. You know those guys want to win and make the playoffs, especially after missing for the first time in forever last year. They're pro athletes, they're competitive. If I'm the GM of the Blues what I'd do is hold onto my guys and let them keep playing well. They may actually make the post season and that would be a great story for all involved. There's plenty of season left. I know this would suck for the Wings, who are trying to pick up a rental player because it would take two and possibly three great deadline guys off the market, but you got to let these guys try and acheive something worth while here. Don't break it up and throw in the towel, Checketts.

Colorado is only 2 or 3 points ahead of StL, it's a really close race right now. I bet if we get Guerin it'll be right at the deadline, I think they wait till the last possible second to trade him just in case.

Worst case scenario for the Blues is that they don't trade anyone and after the deadline all the sudden cool off. You gotta admit, it would be a hard decision to make.

This has been a great thread, one I actually read all the way through. My pick for best Russian player ever (not limiting to NHL) would have to be Vlad Tretiak. He was the best goalie all an era, definately one of the top 5 in the world to ever play the game. Man, I wish he had played in the NHL, even if it was just for a season.

A buddy of mine down here is a huge Stars fan, he walked all the way around the class to avoid having to talk to me today. I got up and went over there, he told me not to talk to him, he didn't want to hear it. LOL All he could do was complain about how there were more Wings fans at the game than Stars fans (as usual). It's like having a home game in TX.

Man, that frickin sucks. Always hate to see a player get hurt. The Slugs were looking like a contender, too. I guess they'll get him back just in time for the playoffs.

Seattle is an awesome city, I loved it when I was there a couple years ago on business. Great people and they really support their minor league team. Any franchise would be very successful there.

I respect the guy and I like Nashville as a team, but it just feels good to have something worth getting worked up about again. These two teams could be great division rivals for years to come. I like what's going on here.
