Lets see: in 2007 #2 defenseman was out. An offensive defenseman named Schneider. In 2009 #2 defenseman out. An offensive defenseman named Rafalski. In 2007 #4 defenseman named Kronwall was out. In 2009 #5 defenseman Lilja is out. My point really was that 2 out of the top 6 d-men were/are out. I wasn't trying to necessarily correlate the results of that series to this one. And as far as being *MUCH* better that only holds true if Datsyuk and Hossa decide to show up

As far as I am concerned all 3 of Dats, Zets and Hossa need to be our best forwards or Anaheim will win this series. All 3 are underachieving. I don't think the wings have any easy answer for the ducks and if they can't generate goals with their best players then they are in trouble.

This should be interesting from an officiating point of view. Neither team is Canadien and perhaps the only team more consistently screwed by officials than the wings are the ducks.

If its the wings of games 1 - 3 vs. th BJs, then I predict a sweep. Otherwise, if the regular season D and Osgood show up like in game 4, then it will be difficult. Since we'll probably see both, I predict wings in 6. Otherwise ducks in 7. There - I think I've covered my bases.

Helm is a huge spark for this team. A huge shot in the arm for a fourth line that has looked fairly tired for most of the year - except when he and Leino were up earlier. Babcock seems to love this guy, so he isn't sitting anytime soon. If our goaltending holds up, this team should be even better than last years when you think of the addition of Ericcson and Hossa.

You know, Yzerman went through a long lean stretch before they won. But you could never doubt his commitment and passion. His leadership on the ice was part of what finally got the wings to turn the corner and get the first cup. The sharks are talented, but they play with no heart and no passion. Isn't it ironic that Marleau and Thorton are both Canadien. Put that it in your pipe and smoke it Don Cherry.

I think what makes it controversial is that they don't call it at least 50% of the time when they should. So when they actually use some simple math skills it becomes controversial. -

Now, if you are hurt you don't damage your teams chances by playing through it at the goaltender position. You have to be responsible enough to pull yourself out if need be. -
As underachieving as Thorton is, Marleau is worse. Here is the captain of a team that doesn't show up for the optional morning skate.

No doubt...The theme for this year should be "hit the switch" or sumptin like that. Actually, I am not too surprised about the sakters, but I confess - I was a major doubter (not hater) of the GT. Power on for the Oz... Wings look SC ready.

Umm excuse me...There are still 15 games to win. Granted both he and the team played well for 1 game, but some of you are acting like we've won the cup. Obviously a good start is important for confidence, etc., but c'mon already lets get some perspective.
