    Dear Chris Osgood,

Apparently there IS a switch located somewhere. Great first period. Its wonderful to be able to say that our goaltender outplayed the other teams goaltender.

Round 1: (2) Red Wings vs. (7) Blue Jackets

Thankfully his fingers were crossed those other times when he said that. Just kidding - go team!

Round 1: (2) Red Wings vs. (7) Blue Jackets

yeah, this year does feel almost identical to last year. We certainly lucked out compared to 1-8.

Round 1: (2) Red Wings vs. (7) Blue Jackets

Hossa, Dats, Zets, Lids will all crank it up. Add Helm and Leino and even if they do not play - they motivate the 3rd and 4th line guys to play for fear of their jobs. You may recall one of the best streaks was when those guys were up challenging for jobs. I fully expect the red wing commitment in all zones will prevail. All we need is nominal goal-tending... (crosses fingers.)

Red Wings Round 1 only on TSN?

This bulls*** is why I resolved never to give the NHL a dime of my TV money. There are online alternatives. And those alternatives include every game of the season archived as well.

Hossa's agent hints about contract possibilities

I absolutely love Hossa, but I'm not sure signing him is the best thing for the team. I really like Flip and Huds and would not want to lose them both - which I think is a given if Hossa signs. Apparently Cleary and Rafalski have NTs so what else can you do? Also, we are definitely playing for now and up to about 5 - 7 years from now with these term contracts. Things could be pretty ugly in 8 - 10 years or so. Some of these contracts could get as ripe as limburger cheese by then if they all have no-trades. On the other hand, maybe we have another 2 or 3 cups and Holland cements his genius as the best GM of all time.

    Helm and Leino will play

Helm instead of Maltby for sure. Leino should play, but if he does it is probably should be on the 3rd line. I would not be upset if he played instead of Sammie or Cleary if one of them continues their end of season play into the playoffs. Cleary has been almost as predictable as Sammie at losing the puck along the boards.

Johan Franzen signs extension, 11 years

Man this team will be *ahem* interesting in 8 - 10 years from now.

4/9 GDT: Predators 4 at Red Wings 3 (SO)

I think if you did the math you would find that Franzen has missed more than Hossa over the course of his career.

So you are you saying Hossa is injury prone and Holland won't sign him?

    Detroit's Round 1 opponent tracker

Yeah, the travel is huge and the path to WCF says alot about who will get to the dance. I don't like the idea of Anaheim and Calgary before San Jose at all. Especially when you consider the physicality and gooniness of those teams in addition to the travel. That would be one tough road.

4/6 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Sabres 1

I think for sure, because he should be in contention for the Hart, but won't get it as we all know. They'll throw him the Selke bone.

lurking, lurking...always lurking - waiting for an opportunity to pounce. Jeez - what a joker - like anyone wants Osgood to suck.

4/5 GDT: Wild 2 at Red Wings 3

Why would I do that? I followed the wings since - well, judging by immaturity of your posts - before you were born. Just because I don't feel Chris Osgood is the right guy doesn't mean I don't care about the wings.

4/5 GDT: Wild 2 at Red Wings 3

This will be my last post about goaltending because it is getting extremely boring and the same tired posts keep getting rehashed. I will bet the farm that Chris Osgood will not be in net when the wings play their last game this year - whether that is 16 wins or something less. I just can't recall the last time a team won the cup with the worse statistical goalie in the league. I don't think it has ever happened before.

Nice of you to roll in and cherry pick quotes from earlier in the game when he was looking like his typical self. I acknowledged he had a good third. He had to make a few stops.

    True enough.

4/5 GDT: Wild 2 at Red Wings 3

Its kind of pathetic actually. Even if you think Osgood is the goalie to start the playoffs, to not admit that Osgood has been bad this season is just total denial of reality. But you'll never hear that from Shoreline. In his world inside Ozzie's colon all is rosy and pink.

Malcontent. Non-fan. Take you red-wing bashing to another site pred-lover.

Yes, he made 2 or 3 saves in the third that goalies need to make if you expect to win. I give him credit, but its hard to vindicate a season of sucki-ness on 1 good period which was preceded by a bad goal in the first and a questionable goal in the second.
