Bettman serves at the behest of the NHL board of directors. Go to the end of this Charlie Rose Interview to get how Bettman thought in '96. The fox puck is hilarious: http://www.charlierose.com/view/interview/6414

Easy - the team has lost confidence in him as well.
-
Downey has demonstrated repeatedly that he can't really play hockey.
-
agreed - I have major osgood hate right now. Complete no show for this game.
-
I love franzen, but we're not signing all 3 and our goaltending will render this team pointless. That would be shame, since the talent is as good as at has ever been.
-
Umm, goaltenders need to goal tend. The number don't lie.
-
I'm thinkin if Kenny has the balls he trades Franzen for a goalie ths season... Or wings figure Conklin is it here on out.
-
Cmon drapes skate... Don't loaf
-
I trust Babcock too... Thats why Conklin will get the majority of games from here on out.
-
Assgood has brought nothing.
-
apparently McLellan somehow turned Thorton into a non-*****.
-
No Osgood is an avg. goalie at best.
-
the wee little man went down early leaving 3 feet to shoot at.

Summer 2010: Use Lidstrom's cap space to sign Luongo?
clutchngrab replied to Reilly's topic in General
Jesus Hell no... First, Goalies are notoriously hot and cold - other than the truly elite, they go north and south for no apparent reason. Invest your money in players that will pay off in the long term and pay dividends in the short term. Conklin is a great example of a solid investment for the medium term. Not expensive, but a great upside for performing well, while not much risk for crashing and burning. -
Thread revival is cool because it is a reminder of how armchair fans pretty much have their heads up their ass 90% of the time

The thing that pavs has that he shares with feds in his prime is skating ability. Forget the sick moves - its the skating. It just jumps out at me every time he is on the ice. His brain and his skates are connected like few players. Feds was a powerful skater, but I don't think Pavs is the same. He's more like gretzky in that hi skating ability is deceptive and elusive.

This is a statement game and our goaltending and defense has been making a statement all season. Sharks win based on that.

Food for thought: Interesting Statistics that speak volumes

Yeah, and how many of these guys are in the box when the opposing team scores the game winning goal. Give me that stat smart guy. -
The biggest problem, besides less than stellar defense and goaltending, is motivation. As a team they are not hungry enough and rarely play a 60 minute game. Some younger blood on this team in place of, say, maltby or draper might be the kick in the pants they need. They either need more speed or more banging from the 4th line to change the tempo of a game. Hossa has been the spark far more than he should have to be. I wonder when they will decide to turn it on?

short-side: Osgood is a small little man. Almost like a unlucky leprachaun.
-
Cheaper by far than NHL Centre Ice and won't get screwed if your local provider doesn't carry NHL Network. Reason enough for me.

Who would produce the most on the 2nd line?
clutchngrab replied to wingslionstigers's topic in General
Our 90's 4th line is very aware of the young blood nipping at their heals. -
I just think the wings need a spark from the 4th line. Back in the day - say 10 years ago - the grind line could change the tempo of a game. Today they are passengers that wait for Hank, Pavs, Hossa, Flip, Mule or Lids to save the day. Last year I predicted we would not win the cup with uneven contributions but fortunately winning for Drake seemed to motivate at playoff time. I don't see that happening again.

This is a team of haves and have-nots. Our best players are really good - but it seems if I was grading you would give A's and B's and F's. The F's (you know who they are) really need to pick it up. The good thing is that Babcock will only give a grace period for a limited amount of time.

This could be the sharks year. They obviously are a harder working team than in the past. Hats off to McLellan so far.
