I think at times when he picked his spots correctly he was a very effective role player who could also add secondary scoring. Other times, he just took things too far and made an ass of himself.

I think Andersson is ahead of Ferraro and Sheahan on the call up pecking order. I'm sure if injuries pile up up front, we may get a look at all of them at some point. I'm sure they want to get a look at Andersson at some point this season. Babcock is really high on the kid, and his waiver exemption runs out after this season. Also, I don't think the Red Wings would waive Miller, Cleary or Eaves. The players that would most likely have waivers looming over their heads are MacDonald, Mursak, Emmerton and possibly Huskins. And, once someone comes off IR I'm sure Tatar will be sent back down.
-
Oops. Missed the "all". Sorry about that, I'll go get some more coffee. However, Lashoff is also waiver exempt.
-
False. Tatar is waiver exempt all season. They can recall him or send him back down whenever they'd like. His waiver exempt status runs out after this season. Same goes for Lashoff.

Wait, you included Thomas McCollum in a trade? Oh boy...

Couple articles on Mlive about Kindl's future in the organization. http://mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2013/01/detroit_red_wings_gameday_does.html and http://mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2013/01/red_wings_coach_mike_babcock_d.html Enjoy!

You really have no idea what you're talking about do you? 1st off, I made no mention of where prospects fit in the line up, I merely responded to your notion that we had no quality prospects. Also, where is your speculation on Ferraro, Andersson and Tatar from? I'm not saying that I know where they will end up, but Ferraro has made huge imporvement in just his 2nd AHL season, and Tatar and Andersson are near point per game performers in the AHL... All three are performing better than Sheahan, who you have included in your cute NHL13 fantasy. Secondly, Quincey was an RFA this past summer. Do I need to explain to you what the difference is between a UFA and an RFA? 29 teams did not have the chance sign him, the Red WIngs held his rights. And before you blab about offer sheets, understand that they only come around for real CLUTCH players like top line forwards and top pairing dmen. For what Detroit signed him for, a team would've had to sacrifice a 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick for him. I'm sure a lot of teams wouldn't have wanted to give up their first three picks in the next draft. Lastly... Have you watched any games so far this season? Datsyuk has been this teams best forward. You want to trade him out of fear of losing Filppula via UFA? It's a good thing you don't have Ken Hollands job... For one thing, there's no way Filppula gets 5-6mil if the Red Wings resign him... SMH...

Umm. Sorry but both are Proven NHL players than can play in the top 6 of a lot of teams offense (Franzen) and top 4 of a lot of teams defense (Quincey). Quincey is a UFA after next season and is low risk, I'm sure a lot of teams would take a chance on him even though he is having a hard time in Detroit. Franzen has scored at a 20-30 goal a season pace the last 5 seasons and his cap hit isn't exactly huge. I'm sure a lot of teams would be glad to add him to their team for the right price. We do have some good prospects in the system. Lashoff will most likely be a regular next season. Andersson, Tatar and Nyquist are all ready for shots at regular duty. Ferraro and Sheahan are both a couple years from competing for a spot. Mrazek is putting up good numbers in the net in the AHL. The team is fine. When everyone (or most everyone) is healthy and the PP picks up, this team will be competitive. No need for a full scale rebuild that calls for dumping off just about everyone in the Red Wings Top 6 forwards... A rebuild of the magnitude you are suggesting would give an XBOX360 the red ring of death if done in a season on NHL13...
-
And also, if Quincey really had to be out of the picture we could probably get atleast a roster player or a couple picks for him in a trade.
-
My head hurts from reading all this NHL13 fantasy talk. Buyout Quincey and Franzen? They would both certainly attract something in return from a trade before we would need to buy them out... Do my eyes decieve me, or do I see Samuelsson on the 1st and Brunner on the 3rd line? Wow.

I know people on here (and certainly posters on Mlive) don't want to hear it, but barring more injuries Lashoff will be back in GR at some point this season. The Red Wings have 9 dmen on the team and the easiest one to move off the roster is Lashoff, and that move involves the fact that he is the only one that is waiver exempt. However, if you are patient I'll put a large wager on the fact that Lashoff's play so far this season has made him a lock to stay on the big club when he is no longer waiver exempt next season. If you aren't patient. Make some trades on NHL13 so that he can fit on the 23 man roster, and then post them as "proposals" in the rumors section.
-
Lol. Thank you. My question was out of sarcasm, because I too didn't see it. I don't think Lashoff will be "sent down" until one of either White or Colaiacovo come off of IR.
-
Can someone please point to where in the articles it says Lashoff is being "sent down"?
-
Where did it say Lashoff got sent back to GR? I think he's just going to be a healthy scratch. And to answer your question: No, Franzen could've been sent down in 05/06 and was on the team all year, and Babcock was coach.

An offer sheet for Subban would have to be absolutely ridiculous for Bergevin NOT to match it.
-
Look at what Toronto paid for Kessel's rights....
-
I wouldn't be keen on it either, but I'm betting Montreal would want him as part of the overall package seeing that he is probably our best young player. I'm merely predicting what Bergevin would ask for.
-
No guarantee that our 1st will be high, especially if we're trading it at the beginning of the season to bolster our team. Who's to say if the Red Wings get Subban they don't go on a tear for the rest of the season, putting that pick well in the 20's I have no doubt the 1st would be part of the deal, but I would expect Smith, Nyquist and a 1st rounder.
-
I agree Helm is much more valuable that Abdelkader, but I think Abdelkaders age makes him the most attractive out of the "expendable" bunch. I'd love to have Wayne Simmonds...
-
I'm not against trading Smith, I'm merely pointing out that he probably has the most value to a team considering a trade with Detroit.
-
I agree. That's what I meant when I said the price would be high, meaning that they would want worthwhile forwards in exchange and really that leaves Helm and possibly Abdelkader.
-
I'm sure it wouldn't stop him from trying. We have plenty of depth up front we could add to a trade, but I get the feeling that the price would be high. Bergevin would want atleast Smith and Nyquist and probably a player he could throw in his line up now like Helm or Ericsson.
-
Yes. I think Mrazek is actually waiver exempt for the next THREE season, not including the one we are in... Gustavsson becomes a UFA on July 1, 2014. So yes.
-
Red Wings cap situation is decent. They would be able to afford him under the allowed $70.2mil cap from the old CBA as long as he signs for under $7.5mil a year. However, it would make things tight for next season as the cap is going back down to $64.3mil and the Red Wings already have roughly $45.2mil tied up and need space to replace or resign Brunner, Howard, Filppula, Cleary, Smith, Kindl, White, Miller and Mursak.
-
Yea... That's some big dreaming. Andersson will be the 4th line center before Sheahan gets it. Tatar would get a shot where you have Jarnkrok before Jarnkrok gets it. Sproul and Oulette need to hit the AHL and the gym for a year before they can be considered regulars in the NHL. Mrazek as backup is an absolute waste. The guy is going to be the clear starter in GR for atleast the next 2 seasons. Gustavsson will be fine riding the pine. There's also no way Iginla would come to the Red Wings if they finish in the bottom 5 this season. He wants a cup and has played on enough bad teams in Calgary. However, try this roster in a season on NHL13 and let us know how it goes. I'm curious.
