    Marian Hossa a Red Wing, 1yr, $7.45m

unbelievable. One year, $7.4 million -- what an ideal signing.

For Raycroft! Most of these are from HFboards.com

Most outrageous, overpaid deals in recent history?

... at least Lilja's trade value just went up!

Most outrageous, overpaid deals in recent history?

The Islanders have managed to put together many of the worst trades and signings in the history of the sport. You would almost think they exist solely to make the Rangers look not that bad.

Wings Offer Mats Sundin 1yr $7/Mill Deal

I almost wish he goes to Vancouver just for the laughs of watching them not make the playoffs again. But right now, he is the best fit for the Red Wings right now, given their cap situation. If we are going to play less of Helm, Hudler, Filppula, etc... I want it for someone of Sundin's talent, not Naslund or Bertuzzi.

Most outrageous, overpaid deals in recent history?

No doubt. I am entertaining myself just by going around to different hockey forums and reading the Finger threads -- they are an absolute gold mine!

Maybe they had second thoughts about leaving proof of any kind words directed to Detroit?

    Islanders Sign Streit

These bad deals are utterly amazing. Lebda should get $3 million/year!!!

    Rolston to New Jersey

Et tu, Lou? I didn't think Lamoriello would be overpaying like this. Is Holland the last same GM left?

    Hossa prefers Detroit?

Yes, though that would not be in Holland's MO -- being classy and all.

    Hossa prefers Detroit?

There's about $1 million in possible bonuses that need to be accounted for, as well.

    Hossa prefers Detroit?

Lose Filppula this year, Franzen the next and it can most likely get done. May need to lose Hudler as well.

    Hossa prefers Detroit?

$10-11 million -- with Filppula still unsigned as well as Howard, Downey and McCarty.

    Hossa prefers Detroit?

There is no way with the Stuart signing we get Hossa... unless Holland starts dismantling this team, and I highly doubt he does so. Filppula gone this year, Franzen gone next year.

    Jagr courted by Pittsburgh Penguins

I wouldn't mind at all if Holland was courting him as well.

    Penguins Sign Godard

    #1 enforcer up for grabs

    Tucker to Colorado

They're really making a strong case to keep Sakic around!

    Penguins Sign Godard

He played in the first game - maybe the first two before Roberts replaced him. Good move by the Pens.

Florida signs UFA forward Cory Stillman

    That's actually a decent signing.

Capitals sign Jose Theodore to 2-year contract

2 years $9 million for Theodore?????
  23. egroen

Okay who is the odd man?

Quincey is not even signed and Meech, Lebda and Lilja are signed until '10. I would prefer to trade one of Meech or Lebda because they are so similar... whichever one fetches the most. Lebda may have the highest trade value because of his solid play in the playoffs... but Meech is bigger, maybe faster, can play forward and may have a higher potential.

    Stuart Re-Signs: 4-years @ $3.75m per

Implications -- No Hossa for sure (never was a chance of that happening). I do not think the Wings can afford Rolston for more than one year... so that really leaves just the one-year contract guys: Sundin Jagr Shanahan Straka ... ?
