I always get uncomfortable when the case for a player getting into the HHoF ultimately boils down to picking the absolute weakest inductions and then arguing said player is better than them. Wins should not be the only measure of a great goalie. The bar for goalies is much higher than it is for forwards, so Osgood is going to have a considerable wait on his hands, and there are currently a fair amount of goalies waiting in line before him. I think he will eventually get in, but I am more in favor of the committee tightening their selections versus loosening them.

Agreed, having Lidstrom for so long has utterly destroyed so many Detroit fans' perception of defense. Lidstrom is an all-time defensive freak, yet he has become the standard for good defense amongst fans. Not really a bad thing, but definitely unrealistic. You could have Keith, Chara and Pronger playing for Detroit, and fans would be ready to bloody hang them, for defensive lapses. Rafalski, believe it or not, is 'good' defensively. Not compared to Lidstrom, but compared To any other defenseman in the league who can also put up 50+ points. He is worth his salary.

Howard has been givin his best Osgood impersonation lately (at least 3 goals against). I'm most disappointed in Franzen though ... He's looking like Lang out there. Babcock needs to chain him to the front of the net ala Bowman on Holmstrom for a spell. Man up, Mule!
