Agreed. Likable enough players, our former ass. coach and their fanbase is surprisingly knowledgeable and best yet - humble (years of crushing disappointment has really taken the boast right out of their sails). This is a great team that will really have earned it when they get there.
-
That would be so awesome if he re-injures it in the Olympics.
-
I like and appreciate that despite being predators, they have yet to kill, disembowel and eat any opposing players on the ice... yet.

Hmmm... Chicago really could get Kovalchuk this year at the deadline (waive Kopecky, trade another similar cap hit player), but they are literally going to push all their bonus cushion into next year ($4.26m). Which would make this a genuine "Cup or Bust" year... Chicago is just going to be a crazily gutted team next year.

If we're talking poles... I gotta go with Lilja.

He's just bitter the Wings did not fall apart when he first predicted it - in 2006. Yeah, Bucci, I'm sure with a healthy lineup the Wings would manage a whole 8 extra goals this season... how generous of you.
-
Who cares? Why do people still feel the need to constantly use them in public knowing many others are offended by them... if they are only words, surely it's no big deal to not use them, or to use an alternative word.
-
Micah, is that.... you?
-
I'll just sick the ushers onto them right away (and usually they will behave, or they'll get kicked out pretty quickly)... the ushers at the Joe are pretty good, and will definitely remove people like this. Sorry for your experience!

Detroit flat-out sucks at playing the trap, and I cringe every time they start playing it with a lead. Puck possession flies right out the window and they look like chickens running around with their heads cut off... it's funny because there is always a tangible moment when you see it and think, "oh s***tttt..... here it comes". Factor in that the refs always feel obligated to give the losing team a few penalties at the end of the 3rd, and the disaster delivers right on schedule.

After a loss like last night (and after giving numerous leads in a row), even the most rational minds look for something to strangle. The positive side is that the Wings have definitely upped their play over the last few weeks, outplaying most of their opponents by a fair margin... it just sucks they have so few points to show for it.

Jamal Mayers has permission from Toronto to seek trade

He never seemed to be a target for Holland... which sucks, as I love his game. He probably wanted $$$ as his $1.3 salary indicates. -
This team simply can not win when the play prevent... How many years will that take to sink in?
-
Just horrible watching the Wings give up leads consistently like this. Osgood needs to play next game... it's time to give Jimmy a rest.
-
I also think the NHL pays them to show as few replays on penalties as possible.
-
The other thing is they were not as liberal with calling fighting majors back then - and most ended up being called as roughing. You won't find too many players back in the Original 6 Era that had more than a handful of "fights" a year.

"Fallacious"? Meaning it was really named after someone else and mean ol Gordie took credit for it?
-
Oh, and probably my number one -- If the puck is over the goal line BEFORE the whistle is blown, review the damn play. Period. I absolutely hate all the blown calls on goals... completely takes away from the game. Happened again last night:

Especially Kronwall - his absence has made me appreciate just how underrated he is. It'll be nice when the wings have a 2nd PP unit again!
-
I think that has largely led to the inconsistencies over the past few years. Refs definitely have a "style" and having two out at the same time muddies up the water [ice].

It doesn't matter when you sign, it's if you are 35 at the time the contract goes into effect (something that apparently escaped Philly when they signed Pronger). That rule is something I hope they revise with the next CBA. Eaves and Miller will both be RFAs (and Meech).

If russia isn't scoring goals in buckets they are going to be losing. -
Good post, so I'll just list my thoughts: 1) It is tough to find hockey on the tube... very annoying. 2) I wouldn't mind one challenge a game either. 3) Agreed - at least let there be a luxury tax then. 4) 90% of the time I agree -- however, I don't like that a skills competition can decide 2 points. Awarding the loser of a shootout 1 point in a way acknowledges it is a pretty stupid way to decide a game, which I appreciate. 5) It wouldn't bother me as much if there were not so many tangible, on-ice benefits to being the chose one, or the chosen team. 6) Hmmmm... I am on the fence on this one. 2 minutes seems extreme, but at the same time I do not like seeing short-handed teams flipping it over the glass for a break. 7) Absolutely. The trapezoid is stupid and dangerous. 8) Inconsistency in calls is soooo frustrating. I also hate makeup calls and handicap calls at the end of a game.
