What does Max Talbot have in common with Brian Campbell?
egroen replied to YoungGuns1340's topic in General
Yeah, the Pens Board are full of class acts... my guess is the average age is 15. http://www.thepensforum.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/...?num=1243390561 -
The only answer is for the Wings to completely keep the Penguins, and especially Crosby, off the scoresheets... so they have no Penguins goals against the Wings to feature in commercials for the next year. Though they'll probably just use stock footage. Bastards.

I love it...

Man, that game was just awful -- I mean, really, really bad. I'm not sure I could even play through an entire playoffs, even back then. So I salute your dedication. Well played.

I just made a visit over to the Penguins forum - which might possibly be the nastiest team forum I have visited.

Cam Neely is in the Hall of Fame (much to the chagrin of many). There is a glut of players already to get in -- it will be a while before Dino gets serious consideration again.
-
It's going to be a long time before Dino has another legitimate shot at getting in - there are a lot of guys ahead of him now elgible, and the next couple years will see a number of guys with better credentials as well (and no character problems).

Datsyuk, Lidstrom, Draper AND Lilja participating in full practice tod

Wow, my pants are a freakin' mess. -
The Red Wings have the best forecheck in the game (when they are not playing prevent and causing me to pull my hair out of my head), as well as the best backcheck -- Anaheim is the only team that was not a turn-over machine against Detroit this year, and that was with Pronger, Neidermayer, Beauchemin and Whitney all playing smart and Getzlaf, who rarely turns over the puck, playing 25 minutes. We may see Pittsburgh turning the puck over more than Chicago and the Wings better continue to capitalize. If they continue to play an agressive game, the Wings can use it against them - just like they did with the Blackhawks.
-
I tell you - these last two victories against Chicago have me brimming with confidence right now. Chicago is by no means a bad team, and has given the Wings a lot of trouble over the past couple years. The Wings were simply decimated by injuries, and still made Chicago look like a vastly inferior team, even with a goalie playing out of his mind in Game 5. They want this, and I am not sure anything is going to stop them this year.

Ok, Pittsburgh's D might not be the weakest we have seen this post-season, it's probably better than Columbus'.
-
It's not great - that's for sure. I was shocked when they traded Whitney - he made a lot of bad errors, but was a big body who could carry the puck and make the outlet pass - definitely an asset for the Ducks. I can't wait to see the Wings split and leave Hal Gill caught up ice with his sasquatch pants down.
-
Malkin has been virtually invisible every single game I have seen him play against the Wings - playoffs and regular season. I'll be very interested to watch how he plays.
-
Correct me if I am wrong, but the Pens had more of a struggle to get to the Finals this year than they did last year. Without all these injuries, I feel the Wings would have a strong chance of sweeping the Pens - they can run roughshod over any team without an elite defense. With all these injuries, I fear we may have ourselves a series.
-
Good lord - I get so tired of the PC Police on this board sometimes.
-
LOL! You're right actually -- making fun of Crosby is like making fun of the physically and mentally handicapped.
-
Getzlaf was visibly winded by Game 4 in the series with Detroit. The Wings' puck possession style can really run a team down, trying to play catchup -- and it is also why you will never see a Wings forward playing much more than 20 minutes a game. Quick, short shifts.

Trading Filppula this year, before the trade deadline would have been asinine.

Ken Holland: Expects Lids and Dats to be ready for game 1
egroen replied to Shaman's topic in General
Babcock should double-shift both Datsyuk and Hossa together. Eventually... they will to start playing well together! -
For me it was never "Flip Hate" but instead "Hudler Love" -- I do not think there is much of a chance we see both on the team next year, and I think Hudler's skillset is more unique, as well as having more room for improvement, than Filppula. I would not want to lose Hudler, when I could trade Filppula. I would love to keep both of them. Flip is playing great!

I was hoping for anyone but Boston. The Wings have shown time and time again that they can contain a high-flying offense, but if they can't score themselves, it can get ugly quick. Teams that have beaten the Wings or given them a lot of problems have had great defense and a hot goalie -- I thought Boston would be capable of both.

Toews and Kane are still on their rookie contracts - they'll be due for some serious raises. The Campbell and Huet signings are almost Rangers worthy in their waste of cap space - so they will have some serious issues. They should focus on Toews, Kane, Keith and Seabrook - that should be their core. Try and trade Campbell - that's all they can do.

Duhatschek: Wings will successfully re-sign Hossa
egroen replied to ComradeWasabi's topic in General
Flip would have to be traded - Samuelsson let go - Hudler would be a maybe. And then there's the crazy idea -- that Hossa signs another one year deal (for pretty low), with the expectation that when Lidstrom is done with his $7.4 at the end of next year, Hossa gets some of what is saved by Lidstrom signing for less. -
I would not be suprised if the refs were particularly stringent with the Wings tonight. Using the media to ***** about officiating quite frankly works, and I do get a sense the trailing team is given more leeway with calls. EDIT: Though MCreary being there does make me feel better.

Game 5 Injury Update: Ericsson, Datsyuk, Lidstrom out
egroen replied to alowicious's topic in General
It's worrisome. I'm just not sure how long the Wings can keep rolling without Datsyuk and Lidstrom -- it's going to really takeits toll the more games played without them.
