  1. Nick played it right! He stayed between the shooter and the open player. He forced the puck handler to one side to help the goalie cut down the angle. It was just on hell of a saucer pass. The only thing that could have been done different is one of the other players on the ice start using their heads when passing, shooting, and playing defense.
  2. What do you think is going to happen when you take 26 PIM. Holmstrom had 10 PIM. He went to the bin 5 times. Filppula went back in right after he got out, he didn't even get over to the bench to get yelled at before he got lazy again and committed another penalty. I know that a lot of the calls were iffy at best, but that is the league today and they should know that by now. How can you get your second line going when you spend all of your time killing off stupid penalties?

    Wings to move East?

I'll believe it when it actually happens.

Do any Red Wing players read this forum?

$10 says that Chelios has a bunch of accounts here and just keeps the conversations going all by himself. I happen to know that it is a fact that sirdrake is none other that Jim Nill.

Four games, four bad pinches, four goals against for Lilja

Part of the reason that Chelios has been so effective this late in his career is the way his minutes are managed. I don't think he would be as effective if he was playing 25 plus minutes every night. Chelios is too good on the penalty kill to limit his time on it (especially now when everything is a penalty) to give him more 5 on 5 time that Lilja was playing. If the salary cap is the reason that Lilja is around, why not let your marginal players go and develop your great young talent? (Quincy, Meech)

Four games, four bad pinches, four goals against for Lilja

Every player has a lapse or two every game, either they are out of position, don't keep their stick on the ice, take a stupid penalty in the offensive zone or something of the like. Not every player has screwed up enough that their mistake has allowed the other team to score a goal in all of the games played so far.

Four games, four bad pinches, four goals against for Lilja

It's not like this is a new thing for Lilja. I wouldn't be surprised to see him lose his spot at some point in time this season. I would like to see him as part of a trade for a top six forward, but I doubt many teams would want him.

    Power Play vs. 5 - 5 Play

If all you are looking for on this board is a bunch of screaming and to see how much you can piss others off, I suggest you find a hornets nest and stick you head in it.

    Official Downey On Waivers

Ken Holland is not the end all says all for this team. Mike Illitch is. Holland gets input from guys like Devallano, Babcock, Yzerman and then clears it with the Illitch's. Are you telling me that the names that are listed (and the ones that are not that offer advice) have no idea how to build a hockey team. It's about getting players that fit the style, attitude, talent requirements of this franchise, not just some big guy to take a roster spot. I would love to have an enforcer, but not at the cost of losing someone that can contribute to the team in more than one way.

Chris Chelios on the Kennedy EXPY?

Chelli and I were rolling in his Phantom hollerin' biznitches just last week and he told me that he just gots to gets himself an AM. Guess he did.

For those who want Downey to play with the Wings, who do you suggest sit to make room for him?

    Datsyuk Gets an "A"

http://redwings.nhl.com/team/app/?service=...rticleid=338815 Moving on up in the world. Now he has proof of being a leader.

Penguins and Lightning may play in Prague

If I were an owner I would be very unhappy about playing a game overseas. How much money would you lose on tickets, parking, TV, memoribilia, food, and drink. Not to mention the loss to the teams home city from fewer people using hotels, restaurants, taxis and the such. I can't say that I would be all for this. Let's grow the game here and not worry about eastern Europe.

Downey and Ellis skate at Monday practice

Grigs needs to play day in and day out. GR is the place for that. Being the 12th or 13th forward isn't going to do him any good. Downey is the guy that should be on this team, at least for the time being.

Three kids sent down to Griffins

Grigorenko needs to play day in and day out. I don't think that he is going/should get that oppertunity in Detroit to start this season. He needs to go to GR and the franchilse needs to pray that he doesn't opt out of his contract.

Quincey out indefinitely with broken left hand

That is too bad. He could have started up with the WIngs this year even with his waiver status. His play was good enough to make someone else trade bait. In this new NHL you can't have enough draft picks or cap room. Luckily it is early in the season and he will have time to heal.

    Anyone care to explain...?

Just a fan with too much time to vent his frustrations. I love the Q & A at the bottom. I was thinking that he would make a good doorman if I by his contract. If anyone wants to go in on it with me we can split up the weekends.

Video: Downey vs. Roy (Great tilt!)

Downey did get his bell rung and was still standing at the end. That has to count for something. He also landed a few shots of his own. Roy wins by a split decision, not a KO. I have to admit, I do like to see the heart and effort.

    Waiver movement thus far

Why would the Wings want to sign someone who was an early cut by another team. It would be a different story if a player was a late cut and the team that cut him was just too deep, but Lacouture and Brennan would just be a waste of money and a roster spot.

Hudler's name not on roster at Official site

http://www.nhlpa.com/WebStats/PlayerSearch...sp?OIDTeam=8369 The NHLPA site has Huddler listed on the Wings. If you notice the salary, it lists wheter a player is signed or not so I don't think that this is just a left over from before free agency. But I thought that he was making about $1MM a year.
  21. LIDDYGIBBY5

    Mark Hartigan?

It sure looks like he is GR bound. I'm not sure why he is on the roster though. He could fill in well on the fourth line if there are some injuries.

    Wing like Abdelkader

Wings fans complaining about something on this forum that they don't understand, I find that hard to believe.

    A good update from Holland

THere is a difference between toughness and just having someoneon the roster who can only fight. This team is very tough and gritty, just not a bunch of goons.

    Scatchard Is Available

http://www.spectorshockey.net/rumors.html Spectors is reporting that Scatchard was just bought out by Phoenix. If a cheap, big man that can play RW is what is wanted, is he the guy? I can't say that I am all for him, but lots of people around here want to get bigger. Thoughts???

    Today's the Day

Hasek, Markov today. 50/50 Bert tomorrow. Holland goes shopping to get the payroll up to $49.3M
