So what you are saying is that Kindl isn't ready for the NHL because he hasn't played in the NHL yet. So how does anyone ever break into the league by those standards?

Reports said the he almost made the team out of camp last year. He had an entire season to mature. I think that he is going to be a regular on the blue line this year if Schneider doesn't come back, and I think that the D will still be quite good. Markov is an excellent Defensemen! He is steady as they come. He isn't going to make the remarkable play, but he isn't going to have to becuase he is usually right where he is supposed to be ahead of time. The only thing that needs to be decided is how much is that worth, and is there anyone already with the club who can do the same thing?

Not many people grow up dreaming about winning the sales competition each year. The Stanley Cup is a little different. Everyone on the winning team must sacrifice. Either their body, their time with family, or the difference between $2.5M and $1M during the offseason.

Last year he was worth $2.5M. That doesn't mean that he will be worth that this year. One year older = one year closer to breaking down. Do you really think that he can go two years at this point in his career with out an injury? That is a lot of risk for 1/4 of what the team has to spend this year.

I can't say that I like the idea of paying Dom that much. The only thing different from last year is that he is a year older and more likely to break down. I'm all for letting Schneider go. The Wings have a great core of D-men. Quincy played great and Kindl almost made the team last year at camp. He has had another year to mature and I think that we will see him as a regular if the Wings don't sign Schneider.

Considering the thoughtfulness of the NHL front office and Gary Bettman, I just hope they don't try for an outdoor game in Gary's beloved Southeast.

Just playing Devil's Advocate here. Aren't you much more likely to get seriously injured by a stick or the puck then you are by a skate blade?

Can you hear the screams from the Leafs and the Sabers? This is going to go over like a turd in the punch bowl with the management of those teams. Do you really think Bettman will allow three teams that close together?

I don't care if the player is from Ethopia! If he can play good, smart hockey, and fit into our system who cares where he is from. There is no truth to the rumor that you have to be from North America to be a good, hard nosed hockey player.

If Lilja smashed Selanne's face and did the same thing as Chrissy, you would be expecting a suspension just like I would. The only reason that you are pissed is that you can't seperate yourself from the fan base and see the hit with out an Anahiem bias.

Because those new guys in option 2 will never have a chance to show how good they are until they get the chance. How about they get that first year under their belt while the other players I listed are still there to help pick up the slack.

I never thought that I would have been unhappy with signing Maltby for less than $1M/yr. But I am. Three years is too much. I don't want Maltby two years from now let alone three. This team needs to get big, fast, strong, and offensive. Maltby only has one of those qualties, fast. How fast will he still be at 37? This is a business, and needs to be run like one. Sometimes you have to let well liked, seasoned guys, finnish their careers somewhere else. How many GOOD PKers do you need? Draper, Cleary, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen. Not to mention all of the young talent that needs to come up to the big time.

Shootouts are not the way to go in the playoffs. But the four on four idea isn't too bad. It is a way to get the stupid trap out of the game. The team with the most talent would be more likely to win instead of the team that can clog up the middle better. It would make players play harder and not be lazy. I'm all for trying most things at least once. (except playoff shootouts.)

I'm probably never going to hear the end of it for saying this, but Lilja looked pretty good during the flames series. He played tough, smart, and used his size like I have never seen before. I wouldn't rush Kronwall back too fast and risk a more serious injury. Lilja has gotten the job done.

Ken Holland is the best GM in the NHL. I have heard all of the myths stated in the original post, and I agree they are all crap. Kenny deserves a big The whole front office is great. Even when the Wings are going to have a "down season" as reported by all the sportswriters; you can expect them to win because players will play hard for this franchise because of their desire to win at all levels.

Here is the standard for a number going into the rafters. Everyone agrees that it should happen. That is how high the standard should be. No one would argue the names up there now, or at the time that they went up. That is how you decide.

There was a lot of talk during the Nashville game last night about who would be the odd man out when Z comes back. Who does everyone think should sit if and when Hank is healty. My pick is Maltby. He has been taking some stupid penalties, and there are multiple people who can do his PK job. The Wings have 8 forwards who can kill penalties well. Dats, Hank, Calder, Cleary, Franzen, Draper, Filp, and Maltby. Everyone besides Maltby offers some offensive upside. They all work just as hard in the corners and don't take the dumb penalties. Huddler needs to play! He has potential to score some big playoff goals and for his size, he is a pretty tough along the boards, and behind the net. Filp has proven himself as a staple in this lineup. So the question is, who sits?
