Where do you see Meech? -

I don't like the idea of Hudler on the fourth line. We have lots of "fourth line talent." Hudler isn't good enough to break the top six on this team. If Hossa is going to be a long term option on this team, I think that Hudler needs to be traded while is value is high. If Hossa is one and done, Hudler needs to be on the second line. Now to the topic. Don't be surprised if Abdelkader has an amazing camp and plays his way onto this team. I expect to see Helm in GR until injuries start to pile up. Downey or Mac (hopefully Downey) will probably be #13 although I would like to see Maltby as a healthy scratch in about 30 games. -
It has already been stated that Chelios is wanted as a number 8 defenseman. That means someone has to go. Chelios is one in the hand, I'll give you that. But I have no problem with Meech and Quincy as a number 5-6 pairing. I don't see the point in losing one of them for nothing to keep Chelios as a number 8.
-
We don't know what Meech and Quincy are fully capable of until they play. You are right about one thing, Quincy will never be counted on by the Wings for top line penalty kills after he has been lost to waivers because Chelios needs a roster spot.
-
I hear lots of "keep him around to help make the young kids better players" How is Chelios going to make Ericsson a better player when Jon is in GR and Chelios is on a road trip out west. ( Or even in Detroit) How is he going to help make Quincy into a better player after he is lost to waivers?

Wow! There is so much going on there I don't know where to start. No offense, but that reminds me of talking to my wife. Twelve different topics all wrapped up into one breath. All that matters is the mgmt of this team is premier. Just sit back and enjoy the regular season. Grow a beard come April and hopefully you wont have to shave it until June.

I think the biggest concern is the cap. I see a lot of names thrown around but they will cost more than Downey. I would like a guy that does more than enforce, but that costs a lot of money.
-
You are right, his name on paper isn't enough. But when he drops the gloves and pummels someone they get the point. Or even if he goes toe to toe and it is a draw, people get the idea. Downey knew when to fight and when not to fight. He never backed down from anyone and always held his own. He was called the perfect teammate on many occasions. I would LOVE to have him on this team.

I think that is a sign that Meech will be around next season. He can play both forward and D so I guess in essence, they will carry 8 d and 14 forwards.

Obligatory forward lines thread for next season

Dats is the better set up guy, but Zetterberg is no slouch at setting people up either. I think that the second line would need the better set up passes. That is why I would put Dats there. -

Look what he did in just about every other game of the season. He has a wicked hard shot the rings off of the glass nearly every time he shoots. If he does get the puck on net it is right in the chest of the goalie. I don't think he will bring much to this team in a back-checking defensive role if he plays with Draper. -

They don't make picks low enough to trade Sammy for. -

Hossa Zetts Homer Franzen Dats Flipper Sammy Draper Cleary Maltby Helm Kopecky McCarty That is just the way I see it -
I've been following Hasek for a long time. Don't put on the rosy glasses just because he was a Wing. He was a great player and he knew it. He didn't like playing second fiddle to anyone at any point in his career.
-
I'm gonna :puke:
-
I feel a little sick to my stomach about Val!
-
If the Wings didn't end up winning the Cup, Hasek wouldn't have been so gracious in the backup role. I'm sure we would have heard quotes from him all summer long about it.
-
He was fine with it because of the result. If he had to play all year as a backup he would retire. Oh wait, he did.
-
Hopefully this day isn't over yet!!
-
Is this a fact or your speculation. If it is a one way deal, then there is no chance for Howard to be up with the Wings this year.
-
Wouldn't he have to clear waivers?
-
Anyone know if it is a two way deal?
-
Great price for a guy who will fight for backup spot. I am happy with this one!
-
Makes me wonder what Huet was asking for if Theodore @ $4.% MM/year is a better option.

It was odd more because Ward was a former player who was in Scotty's dog house all the time. That was the reason that Ward was forced out of the Wings organization. Then Scotty makes Aaron the first person to know. It just seems odd. That is why I said, you don't know what is said in the handshake line unless you are there. This poster has a source who was there.
