If San Jose loses tonight 3/22 it will have dropped them to a 26% chance of making the playoffs. We also have a vested interest in Phoenix v Colorado. Phoenix could still be our first round match up, and Colorado needs this to stay over a 50/50 chance. Of course, Nashville plays tonight. If you want the home seed them losing is necessary. I want 6th place for many reasons so I want them to win.

The Dallas PHX game went perfectly for us... the three points and Dallas getting the edge really made it more likely San Jose would miss out. LA needs to win though now. 41.4% for SJ if they lose in regulation. IF Colorado and Calgary go to OT it will make it even worse for them.

It doesn't much matter now, because we are going to keep free falling, and I think we will end up with 5th or 6th depending on a few things. If we get sixth and SJ wins the Pacific, we only have ourselves to blame as we played like crap on Saturday. Interesting night tonight though with the games. Have a few epic games. If I was Edmonton, or Tampa, or Minnesota, or Columbus, or Toronto, or Anaheim, or Montreal, or Carolina, or Winnipeg I would consider sending someone with wavier exemption down/placing someone on IR and giving Ty a shot. You might end up with a goaltender who would be happy to resign with you to be a solid backup. Sometimes it only takes a vote of confidence and/or a change of scenery.

Okay, here is some evidence to what I was saying... Sheahan just signed an amateur tryout for the Griffins... effectively joining our lower ranks without using any contract space. This is EXACTLY what I was suggesting they could do for Danny. I think this effectively ends the speculation that trading Commodore was specifically for acquiring the outstanding Bronco from Western. Holland doesn't make the team weaker for a long term prospect when he doesn't need to, he would use the extent of the loopholes to get what he wants. I expect the week he is bounced from the NCAA tourney, will be the week he signs a try-out with the Griffins. Even if he signs a contract with the big club, which seems more likely, it does not logically follow that he wouldn't have signed a ATO or that he wouldn't have been a Wing. I could be wrong about that... but how then did Brunstrom make more money? He made like 1.8 his first year.

I am sorry, we are done. I hate to be the pessimist, and rarely am with the Wings... but this is absurd. I pray we don't end up in fifth place either. I think we would do better in 6th or 7th and that is where we will end up now because of these injuries. When you might have to start your fourth and fifth goaltenders weeks before the playoffs start... you are in serious trouble. Silver lining... maybe Lids gets upset with this and comes back for sure.

The only reasons to pick any team over the Wings... would be more money or more playing time. Toronto can do both of those things. I just don't see that as an issue for someone who is in love with the Wings. I know that if I was to have that level of skill, there is no question I would do anything to play for the Wings. I hate prima donnas, but even I would consider holding out and demanding a trade to Detroit to do it... so if I spent all that time risking my health playing without being drafted... I would DEFINITIVELY take the opportunity when it arose. This is why I don't buy this as a must make move. I think the kid will come. You don't pass on dreams. It just makes sense to come here now, in two years when Lids is done... He would be on the team no doubt.

Honestly, the biggest problem remains in my mind the fact we can only have one scoring line at a time. So might as well make it a great one. I would like to see if Zetter Pav and Fil could be a god line. Failing that I wouldn't mind seeing Zetter Pav and Franzen together. I would most likely wish to make the second line a checking line to negate the scoring... maybe have abs and helm when he returns there. (obviously this would only work with last change.) Use the depth to make the third and forth as good as possible. I think Nyquvist is good enough to play now on the second line as well. Maybe Gustav Abs Franzen. Mursak Miller Bert Homer Emmerton Cleary EDIT: just realized I left Hudler off... I guess Hudler could take the place of Cleary... or Homer. I have to agree, now that everytime homer gets on the ice he gets a penalty... I am getting tired of him. I still think he is better than Cleary this year though.
